if hes forced to sell the team it will be for a lot

the Bucks just sold for 500 million, for a franchise in a small market and with basically no stars, this sale could be for a lot of money

but glad for the ban

I wanna see a defense force against this (**continues to lurk stormfront for shits and giggles**).

No idea who that is but I'll guess the owner of the Magic?

If I had to throw a number out, Clippers are probably $700-800 million.

EDIT: I'm leaning towards less as they don't have an arena.

He's losing a lot of leverage because of all the outside pressure to sell the team, though a multitude of buyers may up the price.

I don't think that just because a man spends his whole life actively discriminating against all minorities and especially black people that we should immediately assume he is racist. People are so quick to judge. Same thing with Cliven Bundy. People just don't understand the complexity of his views.

Clippers are worth 800+ million. But there are people lining up to purchase. Now it's up to the new owner if they want to move the team. the magic Johnson's group buys it, he will keep it in LA, but if a rich Seattle billionaire buys it. clippers could be in Seattle by 2019.

Some on Twitter are saying the bidding wars are going over $1 billion. Sterling will be getting quite a nice return on his investment.

Yeah, definitely.

I'm saying what they are likely/should be worth. A bidding war would drive that up. Some owners probably have some interesting ideas for the franchise.

The issue is now is Sterling gonna fight the ban?

He likely will considering he has a invasion of privacy case.

Oh please have Magic and his crew buy out the Clippers.

This isn't what people had in mind when they said they were waiting for a defense force lol

Clippers are not moving to Seattle.

/end

I tried to follow this story and i still don´t understand why a racist who hates black people owns a basketball club, the sport which is predominantly black.

You'd have to imagine that a forced sell of the team would come with the stipulation that the team could not move for some time. It's not exactly the same situation as a team like Milwaukee getting bought and moved.

says who? it all depends on who is buying it. LA is the better option, but it moving is not impossible.

Yes, it is impossible. The NBA has denied multiple sales to owners looking to move teams to Seattle lately. Nobody's moving unless they use it as a threat to get a new arena and the threat fails.

Honestly, the guy is so rich and powerful that is impossible to actually punish his behaviour in any real way. Given that constraint, this is a pretty tooth and substantial sanction. $2.5 million, like any fine, is a token fine, but it'll do a lot of good to help worthy organizations, and the rest of the stuff removes him from the picture (even if he will profit from selling the team).

Yup. Makes no sense whatsoever. I mean.. as an owner, did he not have even the smallest professional relationship with the players?

LOL Just heard the conversation. I can't believe this is a real argument between two adults.

"You know I'm mixed, right?"

"You said you were going to fix that"

Good stuff. Now we need an investigation into payoffs and bribery in the NAACP who gave this guy a Lifetime Achievement award and was about to give him another.
