Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

I knew of this but that's still a pretty scary thought. I wonder if they would've ever ended up localizing Fire Emblem regardless.

FWIW, I always thought Ashley/Mona/Jimmy T & Captain Syrup should have been a thing since Brawl.

Then again, I also believe that in terms of Smash rosters:

- Palutena AND Medusa should make playable
- Star Fox's current 3 is great
- Donkey Kong should get one more (Dixie > K. Rool personally)
- Metroid could get Ridley to bump the number up to 3 (not terribly for or against the space dragon)
- Mother could get one more but I dunno who to pick besides based Kumatora. I'm sure someone will mention Ninten for the Mother series main character triumvirate, but just like the current dialogue with Fire Emblem, all main characters (and no girls) is boring.
- Mario, Zelda and Pokemon are good so far but I don't mind them getting more characters
- Give me all of the Retros (Prince Sable, Mike Jones, Takamaru, Lip)
- Advance Wars, Golden Sun and Sin & Punishment are the red headed stepchildren of the Nintendo vault. (Andy/Sami, Issac, Saki pls)
- Yoshi could get Kamek because hilarity
- Falcon could get Black Shadow as a compliment.
- Fire Emblem's Brawl trio (yes they should have went full hog here) should have been Marth, Ike, Lyn. The more universal answer is Marth, Anna, Robin for 4.
 
All I'm gonna say is Rainbow Road 64 Mario Kart 8 version needs to be a music track. We have a Rainbow Road stage. Nuff said.
 
The more I think about it the more I wouldn't mind if Lin or some other Advanced Wars: Days of Ruin character was the replacement for Snakes moveset if that happened. Wouldn't be a stretch for those characters to incorporate it and on Lins side I can always do with more female characters.

Need to get an Isaac fanbase as large as Ridley's

Saki was already deconfirmed though!

Also, I inow it was kind of a joke, but we really don't need more F-Zero and Yoshi. Also, the idea of adding a character solely because they're female isn't a great one.

Mother has three games and isn't getting an official fourth. Two characters is fine.

I really hate to be Debbie Downer with the reality that Isaac's chance to be playable character for Smash4 is pretty slim; however Isaac is one of Western's most wanted characters from what I remembered. I think Isaac is right up there for top 10 wanted characters at Smashboard but I'm not sure. If anyone want to correct me on that, please do.

My favorite hypothetical situation for Mother having a third character is Ness, Kumatora, and Loid. It would cover all three games and even reflect the same three character archetypes that have been present in each game.

Otherwise leave me to my delusions

See, this is why DLC can be good for smash. If Melee couldve gotten DLC, I wouldnt have been surprised at Isaac getting in based off of how much the original 2 games sold and how well received they were

Isaac's popularity, sort of like Zoroark's (although Zoroark is bleh) was at that awkward time where it they didn't have much of a chance to capitalize on their popularity for smash

I'd be happy with Lin, Sami, or even Will. Unfortunately I can't shake the feeling that Andy would be first in line for the series.

My point was that he had a brief stint of popularity where many people believed that if smash 4was announced before gen 6, Zoroark would get in. He, Ghirahim, Isaac, and many other characters simply had better chances in the middle of the releases of various smash games, and are examples of why dlc can be useful

No, Zoroark wasn't that popular, although early gen 5 he had a following that became a little smaller with time but still remains, although I think it got smaller when gen 6 came out

Wonder what would happen if Ridley was revealed.

There's no checkbox for happiness (whether you wan Ridley in or are tired of the discussion) and therefore SmashGAF will run errors as it self-destructs
 
Seeing people talk about Lin both here and in the NBA thread is sort of disorienting.

She'd be great, though. Not happening any more than another Wario character is, but I can dream.
 
My only real want or need for the Smash roster at this point (besides Palutena) is some kind of female representation out of the FE series. I really like Ike, Chrom, and Marth, but it's kind of a bummer that a series that has produced tons of amazing female characters (I'd say FE is probably one of the best Nintendo franchises in this regard) isn't really represented in that regard in Smash. And everyone who's picked is, like, just a Lord (which is admittedly understandable). It's why I've been rooting for Anna so hard - she's practically a series mascot (with all the history that entails), she's got a distinctive bag of tricks that doesn't necessarily need to rely on 'sword stuff', and she's... well, a she.

I'd be rooting for Lyn, too, but that seems like an unwinnable battle.

Would prefer Sami, to be honest. Lin's a cool design, but I think Sami has a lot more history to the franchise itself.

Oh, certainly. If we were having this conversation about a game coming out in 2009 that'd be one thing, but with the series in dormancy and DoR getting a fair amount of backlash, they'd unquestionably go for one of the OG Orange Star COs first and foremost.

If Wars was even on the table, anyway. I fear what IntSys is going to do to it in the wake of Awakening's success once they finally give the series another shot.

Oh no, they're certainly not doing that. Snake's moveset is very specific to him to begin with and wouldn't fit anyone else, no matter how much people want to try and make connections on bazookas alone.
