Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

It's almost time for wario to make his appearance...

Wario should ride Waluigi instead of a motorcycle.

Anyone expecting a Wario reveal to coincide with Mario Kart 8's launch is setting themselves up for disappointment. The previous "promotional" reveals involved characters with significant roles in their respective games, but Mario Kart obviously isn't a Wario game. He'll probably be announced on a random date with a link to the Game & Wario site on his page.

If I saw this picture before yesterday, I definitely would've been convinced this is Dillon's render as a playable character.

Small request: can anyone add a convincing shadow beneath him?

I'm not. Wanted an excuse to post that gif lol.

So I went into and got a Nerf grip for my 2DS today, and between it and the Circle Pad cover I got a couple of months ago, I imagine my Smash 3DS experience is going to be pretty comfortable. Anyone else tricking out their 3DS/XL/2DS like I am? Or are you all going in raw?

Gonna try raw at first, if I feel I can improve, i'll get the CPP for my XL, although if the 3DS version is closer to the N64 than to Melee, than the CPP will probably not be necessary

I'm banking on overalls Wario being the "main" Wario this time. WarioWare hasn't had a real game since Smooth Moves, and overalls Wario is generally more popular anyway.

On the other hand, I'm not holding my breath for a Wario Land-based moveset. But I can dream...

Got a battery extender/grip for regular 3ds, seems pretty gud.

Do you guys think we'll get Warioware Wario again? Or just regular Wario?
Both will still show up but I'm positive that WarioWare Wario will remain as the main model. It's a design unique only to the Wario games (whereas Land design is just regular old Wario from Mario spinoffs) and Ware is the more prominent series.

Plus, Wario's moveset is based on the Ware games and I highly doubt he'll be getting a Land-based moveset overhaul. I'd like to at least see Shoulder Bash upgraded to a special move ala P:M, though.

Wario's two most recent games (D.I.Y. and Game & Wario) used the WarioWare aesthetic.

Because Melia's playable instead of Shulk?

I'm ok with this.

I'd be amazed if they actually got Jenna Coleman to reprise the voice. I'd love Riki too, but I think I'd hate it if they couldn't get the same English VA. That's the only thing I'm really worried about having Xenoblade characters in the game, I fear Nintendo/Treehouse won't bother reaching across the pond for the VAs.

right-clicked and saved.

I hope Wario gets some changes this time around.
I'm thinking not. Out of all the veterans not confirmed yet, he's probably the least in need of a redesign. He's a completely original character (unlike Lucas/Wolf/etc) who isn't held back by being introduced early on in the series (like Ganondorf was) and is completely true to the modern version of the character (unlike Brawl Bowser and Pit, Ganondorf).

He also wasn't really terrible or good or anything like that, so it's not like it's a balance issue.

Though I know others feel differently and that those people may think some of his moves aren't Wario like and just random, I am inclined to agree with you.

Yea compared to the others he doesn't need one, but I think he could be even better. I would like to see some more Wario Land influence in his attacks for one. Maybe even a Shake-It inspired ground punch or a shoulder dash attack. Just a few tweaks to make him feel like the beast that he is.

Don't count on it though. His motorcycle and recovery might be changed, to be honest, since Sakurai seems to be making it easier to recover. Wario's Side B into Up B isn't the most intuitive really and the up b by itself is Little Mac tier.

Sakurai's making it easier to recover for some characters.

Pit got his nerfed, IIRC.

I suppose it depends on what you call a Nerf. He can't fly for ridiculous lengths of time or glide but did you see the distance of his recovery? It is preposterous, horizontally and vertically. (Less so vertically, as far as I can tell)

I can see Sakurai getting rid of the bike or giving it a nice buff. And agreed his recovery isn't the best so maybe his bike could be changed to have a chargeable boost (similar to Diddy or even Lucario's now) that will help his recovery. And Wario is the least of my worries for Smash so I'd be ok if he's the same honestly.
