I'd decided it based on how awesome I could make the moveset. Do I go for Mach Rider since he's basically a blank slate, or shall I go with another more defined character?

Do I want to really make people want to say wtf? How about I make a character out of nintendo's peripherals. Virtual Boy head, Vitality Sensor torso, 64DD butt, etc.

Honestly, everytime I look at Mach Rider, I think Ghost Rider with guns. Haha. But i'm sure things can wonderfully for him, if they really thought about his stuff.

Yeah, we did. We finally know full roster and full tracks since they already show last 5 tracks. It was pretty good Direct for me at least.

I'd go with either your suggestion due to having a similar idea on its execution for a long time or Takamaru & Lip to work the "Captain Rainbow reunion tour" with those two and Little Mac in the roster. In either situation, it's more because of the moveset you could bring to the table with each.

Mike Jones: Athletic junior varsity pitcher with a psychically controlled yo-yo.
Takamaru: Based samurai. Also godlike projectile game and ground speed.
Lip: Puzzle game heroine and an outlet for a play style revolving around "position control".

NeoRice, we also got E3 preview trailer from Nintendo. I think it's title is Nintendo Play; so basically they announced few informations for E3 and Smash Tournament.

I thought it was hilarious. I enjoyed it a lot more than the previous Directs. I love Iwata but let these guys handle the Directs. Iwata should only come out for important announcements and such, but info Directs like this one don't need to be handled by him.

You're comparing a Brawl character with a Melee character. Fox is actually competing against other characters with similar offensive ability and is in a game where his weaknesses matter.

I'd probably go with a combination of unique and if they have been recently brought back. Anyone that can bring something fresh to the game will be welcomed. And I agree with Takamaru and Mike being good choices. There are characters I can see making a comeback through smash easily.

Evidently, enough people that the thing exists. I don't think a $50 Wii U Pro Controller + that is shaped like a GC controller is as ridiculous an idea as you are making it sound.

Wii was an anomaly. The audience that bought all of those Wii ___ and Just Dance games are gone, as we can already see by the god awful performance of the Wii ____ games on Wii U. The audience that ballooned Mario Kart and NSMB sales to ridiculous numbers are gone as well. Smash will be the best selling game on the Wii U, like it was on the Gamecube. Maybe a close second to Mario Kart, but no lower.

Like someone said, a GameCube controller for the the Wii U would only happen if Nintendo starts releasing GameCube games on the VC. Other than that, you better get used to the Pro Controller (& if they make a wired controller, it'll likely be of the Pro Controller since they're still in production, unlike the GameCube controller).
 
Problem is that Sakurai mentioned that he want to add more old characters but it don't meant that they had to be retro characters. Maybe I'm being literally but we'll see.

I'm fine with that. So far, we have a lot of new characters that are either very popular or have made an impact on Nintendo's success, which is great. But I can see Sakurai adding one or two old/unique characters to redesign and surprise us. well maybe.

I'd take Mach Rider and Lip from Panel De Pon.

Also, isn't Mach Rider a girl? What was with Nintendo and pulling "It's a boy!, but not really." in games back then? o_O

This would be my dream character. Won't happen, but would be pretty darn awesome. I can see him (or her since it's relevant to discussion) doing circular burn outs, wheelies, trail/side braking, handlebar tricks, clotheslines, etc etc.
