I also have an office where I game on rare occasions. The PC is an older AMD build.

That rig looks awesome! I really like it. Mind posting the whole build?

Also, I guess you mounted the HDD/SSD into the 5.25 drive bay along with the ODD?

Thanks! The HHD is in the 5.25 bay and I've got two SSD's taped to the back. I also suspended the HDD in the air with shoe strings to minimize vibrations. If you look close you can see the shoe strings LOL.

Long-ass table with a 42" HDTV on it, with PS3 on one side and Xbox360 on the other. Enough space for my tv/consoles/controllers/tv remote all on the table. Plus a cup of tea and plate of food if I'm eating/drinking whilst I'm gaming.

That large space in front of the HDTV is where I put my Microsoft Surface Pro; which I plug into the HDTV so I can work on a big screen.

Would a LACK table be ok with the weight of a 46" LCD? I've sat on ours when we've had company and it seems sturdy enough. I need something small as the space is limited but also somewhere to get my legs under for a wheelstand setup. The LACK is handy as we already own one but a little short.

Any other cheap and slightly taller alternatives available in the UK?

I've got a mahoosive A3 Brother printer sat on a LACK table and it weighs a bastard ton. They are pretty strudy mate.

haha funny
I really like those compact watercooling systems from Corsair. I wanna use one in my next build too. They look gorgeous.

Also, I saw many people hiding their SSDs in the tiny space between the right case panel and the motherboard. Isn't that going to be a heat issue? Or are they cooler than standard HDDs?

Here is my current setup. Looking for desk ideas for the corner between the tv and sofa. Wanted to go with a glossy red, but can't find any. Do you guys think white would look good? Any ideas are appreciated!

Damn, this setup is clean as Hell, love it. As for the desk, if you must Id get white but I actually think the empty space there works really well.

Yea I think so too, but I tried PC gaming on the TV, it just ain't working for me. I'd like to have my pc in the living room, but could move it to the bed room if it looked bad

No need to clean just for a picture :P
The bottle in the first picture ;)

I'm not the most fashionable guy around, but I feel that the white tables don't really fit with the rest. They're nice but there's something about them.

I painted a shitty old pine table and chairs with bright red high gloss latex. I sanded it down to bare wood, and then put about 3 coats of paint on. We were happy with the way it came out. You could grab a cheap used desk with a shape you like and try it. You won't be out much if it doesn't come out.

I can't find a before picture, but here's how it looked after.

This looks really stunning.
BTW, do you know how I can paint pinewood furniture? I own old furniture from my mum, not sure if it's real real pinewood furniture or if it's just a press board. I don't like the pinewood optic anymore and wanted to paint them in a pure white, or black. I don't care if glossy or matt.

Thanks! I don't have a place to paint, but I can try to find a place

Thanks. You should just be able to sand, prime and paint it. Make sure you sand off any shiny varnish if there's some on it, or the paint won't adhere properly. You can use latex pain, though I'm told alkyd paint will give you a nicer finish. Some people prefer a roller, but I used a brush. Just make sure you buy a good one, to minimize brush strokes. Go slow and do several (at least 3) coats, letting the paint dry completely in between. If you see any drips clean them immediately. Then if you want more protection you can finish it with wax if you're going matte or polycrylic if you're going glossy. It's easy, just take your time.

Thanks for the tips! Will check into the next DIY-store as soon as I got money again hehe

I'd be careful with using Lack tables, if you break the legs they are literally just hollow boxes of the outer laminate, so when they fail they fail hard and fast.

Monitor I brought out to play with, usually sits in my closet. Dell c22w, I'm going to assume most people here have never seen one haha.

If anyone in SF wants to buy it, let me know. I've barely ever used it and it just sits in my closet.

Before images
I got the apartment about a year ago, however as the images below kindly tells it was in a desperate need of caretaking.
As only being a 'hobby-handyman' it was quite a project to grasp, and first time trying to remove a wall was indeed fun but also 'hair-pulling'.
But today I must admit that I'm proud of the result.

Bought my first flat late last year and have it pretty much finished now.

It's pretty low-key but it's my first place and I love it. :)

Where did the money come from? Looks like you invested around 20.000-30.000 euros. And is it rented or yours?

you'd need twice that amount for restoration alone where i live : (

and that's a lot of work for a rented apartment

The apartment haven't seen any kind of renovation for the past 15+ years (walls, kitchen, floor, etc).
Therefor I received some funds from the owner of the building for a new kitchen (ikea), fridge, dishwasher, stove and such. (was installed by professional)

Walls was all done by me with help from various friends - plasterboards are inexpensive and does a really good job!
Floors was done by a professionel but got an awesome discount, so was able to pay him with the remaining funds from the owner.

The apartment is rented, and to answer your question, yes that is a lot of work for only a rented place...
But I will stay here for at least 4 more years (then I will have my masters) so I think it's well worth it!

To sum up I've invested a 1000 euro's of my own money (paint, plasterboards, etc) and all the freetime I had for 1.5 month into the renovation :)

Really like the living room. The window-placement is awesome. so much natural light in the room.
May I ask for a picture of the bedroom?

By the way, I also live in a rented apartment, which hasn't seen any renovation in the past ~20 years. I bought a laminate floor myself to get rid of that ugly carpet floor in the bedroom and in the living room, also in the entrance/hall.
I'm thinking about removing it again though, as currently the floor is like this:
on top: laminate floor
under laminate: the carpet floor
under the carpet floor: some kind of PVC shit
aaaaand under the PVC: some kind of old hardwood floor (similiar to yours, but I believe with a tad wider bars, not sure as it's under 3 layers of floor haha)
Did you in any way renovate the hardwood floor? Like sandpapering it, varnishing, whatever?

I kinda like the kitchen. For some reason I'd like to trade my 1 bedroom apartment with a seperate kitchen for one with a living room with kitchen. I really like the look of those.

In this case, it sounds like an awesome deal for both you and the owner.
Looks really nice

Nice place. However there be no way I'd be doing all that work in a place that wasn't mine. I hope you signed a long term lease.

Why aren't the floor standing speakers in the lounge?

Very impressive transformation happidane, I'm jealous of your of your handyman skills. Were did you learn to be able to do that alone?

Good to see a fellow longboarder on here! Is it nice to ride in Copenhagen? Also, what kind of board is that?

Stunning place, btw.

Thank you all for the kind words. Didn't expect such a great feedback, really appreciate it!

I perceived it as a fun project to do, so didn't bother me. However wouldn't go through the 'stress' again, for while at least!

They just didn't fit in optimal in the living room and also I would have to invest in some surround speakers, and to be honest I don't watch enough tv to justify the investment.

Therefor I have one speaker in the living room (originally a center speaker) and the two speakers in the dining room creating a great music experience in the whole apartment.

Very impressive transformation happidane, I'm jealous of your of your handyman skills. Were did you learn to be able to do that alone?
I was introduced to doing 'handyman stuff' in my early years through my grandpa and father, and I've never been afraid to either ask or get my hands dirty. Always been and to this day still live by 'learning by doing'.

The roads are decent here, however nothing like the roads in Santa Monica where I was fortunate to buy the board on a vacation. That place is just made for cruising all day long!
Cannot remember the brand and I'm not home, so will have to get back to you.

Any more pictures of the computer desk?
I have some from the customization process:

Yes I have installed a smoke alarm nearby, but it has been running for 9 months now, so to be honest I'm not afraid of starting a fire anymore, or the possibility of short circuiting some hardware.
