Nintendo E3 2014 - discussion thread for their E3 plans

I don't know why Nintendo-related speculation threads become so big.

Anyways, I wouldn't expect Nintendo's next handheld to be announced till next year at E3.

All I want from Nintendo...well let me explain...

E3 2011: Was expecting to see a new Metroid for 3DS, perhaps Dread finally!...Nope.

E3 2012: OK, Retro is surely prepping a new Metroid for Wii U launch!...Nope.

E3 2013: Starting to get afraid the franchise has been shelved...unless Retro's secret game is Metroid!...NOPE! Maybe a new Metroid for 3DS is finally coming?...No. Fucking. Dice.

Seriously, I am jonesing for a new Metroid so bad, I will take it in any form at this point. 2D, 3D, First-Person, Third-Person...Anything! Remake Metroid 2 or something! Give me Prime HD!

LOL!

Because they do way more innovative and crazy stuff than all other parties combined in the video game industry. And they also make the best games.

It also helps that Nintendo is so tight lipped that they can literally pull anything out of thin air at any time.
So it's fun to just speculate what they have hidden away.

Welcome aboard. We request all passengers to keep an eye out for these bastards:

And if you should see one, please alert the driver immediately so defensive action can be taken.
LOL, Sweet! Thanks.

I think they make good games, but what does that have to do with speculation?

As for the first sentence...all I can say is 'wut?'

I think Riki is on the ball, it has to do with how tight-lipped they are.

I'll actually attend the e3 this year (yay) ...its a dream comes true to me and I'm VERY disappointed at the fact that Nintendo doesn't have a "normal" conference :( .I'm really really really hoping for some kind of gathering where Nintendo fanatics get togther to watch the stream in a place at e3 or something :'(

Edit: oh I expect Nintendo to reveal some major games with their collaborations that will take everyone by surprise.

But my most anticipated game so far is Zelda U (whatever they are baking really)

Are you attending as press? If not, then there's really no way you would have gotten to see the conference anyway.
Outside of that, there will probably be several locations where people will watch together. Particularly in the hotels.

No I bought the ticket through the website and they sent me some kind of questionnaire and asked for my work and stuff and it got approved.

I hope GAF make a thread about those gathering places tho :(

Yeah, the conferences are invite only. So even if Nintendo was holding one at the Nokia, you wouldn't have gone. But there are always GAF meetups for these. There should be a thread going up in the coming weeks.

These are pretty random and i haven't thought about them a lot, so quite a few will surely go wrong. Still gonna bookmark it to see what i got right.

NINTENDO
This time we'll get a proper conference which hypes the core gamers the most. 3DS is doing fine as always but it's starting to lack games, WiiU on the contrary must need some heavy 1st party/3rd party co-developed titles to stay alive. Maybe Direct to show games's demoes for those unable to be at their booth.

3DS
Price drop for both Lite and XL
New "Elite" revision for 2015 ---> (XL with two analogs, 4gb internal memory, screen resolution doubled, spring 2015)
Zelda Majora's Mask 3d ---> (so teased it's inevitable, XL special edition)
Pokémon Z ---> (usual 3rd PKMN game with improvements and new pokémon, just wonder who's gonna be on the cover since Zygarde isn't a surprise)
Smash Bros ---> (new trailer with final release date, Chrom 3ds exclusive character)
Bravely Second ---> (JP release Late 2014, first half of 2015 for the west)
Dragon Quest VII ---> (release in Fall)
Yokai Watch 1 ---> (together with anime airing announcement)
Monolith Soft 3DS game ---> (we know they've been working on it for a while, more at tgs, most surely 2015)
Metroid ---> (2d game prequel to Wii U's one)

WII U
New firmware update
Smash Bros ---> (release date announced, Shulk WiiU exclusive character)
Bayonetta 2 ---> (live demo, release date announced)
Zelda U ---> (at long last, it's every zelda hardcore fan wet dream, visual style appealing to the masses, great graphics, Spring 2015)
Metroid ---> (hardcore reboot made by Retro, 2d prequel on 3ds, 2015)
Or
Star Fox ---> (just a teaser, made by platinum W101 team, 2015)
x ---> (full name revealed, proves itself as more than a Monster Hunter clone with proper single player storyline, Jap release date and West season)
Something by EAD ---> (title to appeal kids and families)
New Miyamoto IP ---> (a title to cater every type of gamer)
Watch_Dogs UBERDOWNGRADE EDITION ---> (watch it being even worse than PS360 with dlc timed exclusive and silly gamepad features)
Monster Hunter Online ---> (brand new title with MMORPG features, buy2play, uses some Panty Raid engine techs but very badly)
Hyrule Warriors ---> (playable demo, fall 2014)
Pokkén ---> (just a tech demo, developed by ???, no hints of release)
Yarn Yoshi ---> (2014 title)

I kind of expect to see Zelda U

I want a NA X release date, a 3D Metroid announcement, and a surprise exclusive and I'll be overjoyed.

I wish Nintendo would do a press conference. Why aren't they doing it anymore? I just watched the epic Zelda orchestra intro from 2011 we will never get back the crowd reaction and the pure epicness from the image...

It's sad that people still believe this after we got a lengthy battle video.

While i absolutely loved Xenoblade, this one still isn't clicking with me, and while the last gameplay video was interesting, you cannot deny there seems to be a MH inspiration. Maybe if they show some main story segments i'll change my mind. I hope so.

All I need to see/hear from them is:

-Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem Info/media/anything!
-More on X and maybe finally hear some real info on it rather than more trailers/footage
-Advance Wars 5 3DS
-Zelda U

There is no MH inspiration whatsoever. You're seeing things that aren't there.

Finally an updated hype train pic! The last one is pretty outdated since it has banned users or users who suddenly became trolls for unknown reasons :(

Of course I can.
The battle system is nearly identical to Xenoblade.
Nothing about it is like Monster Hunter in the slightest and you're hallucinating if you think otherwise.

Fighting big monsters does not equal mh clone.

I honestly have no idea what this game is.

It's Phantasy star online.

I dunno, I never really got a PSO vibe from Xenoblade.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel like X looks more MHey than I would like, especially given we still haven't seen any proof of any significant story mode. I Certainly hope I'm wrong because I hate MH and would be incredibly disappointed if they wasted a potential Xenoblade sequel as a MH game.

It's Phantasy Star Online (Episode 1). I brought it up because it came way before MH, and at least the both of them are sci-fi-themed RPGs.

Made by Takahashi, hiring employees with experience in literature, not MH-ey in the slightest, etc..

Aren't some of the pgs shown in the video supposed to be other players?
So if it has co-op i guess it'll be mission based aka fighting big monsters, that seems MH-like.
But hey, if you're telling me i'm wrong then i'll happily order two portions of crowds :)

I totally agree with you, but damn do I want a higher resolution 3DS in the meantime. I honestly don't care what the graphics are like since a good art style can handle a lot, but the res can sometimes be annoying.

That "Nintendo DS games in HD" thread really showed how much detail gets lost.

We don't know anything about how online does or doesn't work in the game. They haven't even confirmed it has online (though it seems likely).
But even then, the entire game would certainly not be built around online. That's pretty clear from the videos that there is a lot of stuff you do as a single player.

If Xenoblade allowed human players to control AI party members, would that have made it "MH-like"?

Mh clone? where that come from?

anyway.. I hope we get a proper name and some tidbits of the story.. Probably my most anticipated game for this year.

Nintendo E3:

-3DS things (don't care for this since I'm not that big on handhelds)

- Trailers for new IPs (2)
- Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 HD bundle (1080p/60FPS) - Fall 2014 - $60
- New SKUs with 160 GB HDD - $299 / 60GB HDD $250
- Redesigned gamepad with improved screen/ergonomics/battery life. A lot lighter so not as stressful to hold for long(er) periods of time.
- Bayo 2 new trailer with release date
- Pokemon U trailer
- Zelda U gameplay and trailer

EDIT: Forgot to put X gameplay in there

Probably in the minority here, but I'd love it if Mario's next, big, proper HD 3D outing on WiiU was Mario Sunshine 2. (Or just an up-port of Mario Sunshine.) Summer's just around the corner and that game's a perfect fit for the season...

Oh I would cry tears of joy.... Sunshine was the best Mario in my opinion...
