Solid T. Hawk play involved heavy footsies to begin with, so he got better in that regard. Once people learn to exploit his weaknesses with the matchup appearing more often then he'll just drop out of the "overpowered" conversation.also helped by a super impatient Hawk. That said getting zoned out as a grappler is really frustrating, and it's hard to fight that impulse.
That said, I do think Hawk's weaknesses are going to be known more/exploited more in Ultra, so I think you'll see more of this- I just hope it isn't so much that Hawk drops to below mid tier.

I'm enjoying it more now that the talent level is higher and there's less people who don't have a chance at winning filling the brackets.
I know folks talk about Doom, Vergil, and Zero a lot, but the number of viable cast members is actually pretty huge right now. There are only a few, like Tron Bonne and She-Hulk, that are truly terrible. Hell, we almost just had a Hulk player win a major tournament, and Hulk has been considered crap for most of this game's life.I think Firebrand is legit part of the metagame now, and it's great to see Apologyman taking out god-level players. Also Kubota being used as a real tactic.
Who won AE last night?
That taquito (Tokido) guy.
Enzo et. al.
I know it's ECT weekend, but Chicago will be hosting a local tournament on Saturday, May 10th. It's IGNITION: Road to UFGTX. Stream will be at http://www.twitch.tv/ignitegl. Hope some of you at least have it open in another window.
And if anybody in the Illinois-Indiana-Wisconsin area is actually interested in attending, information can be found here.
A bit off topic but I was at Stunfest in France this weekend and a bit before the finals of SF4 I saw two players dropping their shirts to play an old sega arcade cab.

Nwm so gdlk
LA Machine Guns is the shit. The local arcade has it so I make it a point to play it when I can. That and Soul Calibur 3 are pretty fun, probably the only good permanent things in that arcade. If only they were playing the superior LA Machine Guns
complete with "hoverboard" you stand on and big black rumbling weapon you grasp in your hands
speaking of non-ECT tournaments, there's yet another MLG qualifier for Melee this week: Get On My Level, which is on May 10-11th in Canada
Canadians are freeKappa
there's already 130+ people registered for Melee, and also if anyone cares (lol) Brawl is using a 1 stock Bo5 ruleset instead of the usual
Marvel's Not DeadTop 8 at NWM was hella good, with tons of variety of characters and playstyles and a lot of exciting moments. Marvel's not dead yet.
I think all that is left now is an article on FGCNN about the non-money match.
Marvel's Not Dead
Forums poster and devout Marvel fanboy Dahbomb finds his faith tested by dogmatic and argumentative moderator Shouta.
Choice quotes:
Shouta: "Repeat after me. A Marvel patch is not happening."
Dahbomb: "I'm sorry, I can't do that."
Shouta: "You will do it by the end of the major or else you'll be banned from NeoGaf."
So is Marvel dead now
--
Anyone looking to play AE/KOF today?
I still find Marvel as enjoyable as I always have.
There's plenty of games that are dead. Marvel is far from being one of them. But then again how hype would the finals have been if Chris G was a part of it?
Enjoy it while it lasts.

Trying to teach players who've already developed bad habits and mentalities is hard :<
Which ones in particular?

I can't believe the Champ/Nemo money match didn't happen. I hope this doesn't diminish the number of future appearances from Nemo at American tournaments. Flying from Japan isn't cheap, and I'd assume he's confident enough in his money match prowess that he was counting on bringing it home.
I think Shouta mostly paid for Nemo to come out here this time? Sadly, no Nemo at EVO this year either; we talked to him last night and it does not sound like he is coming. Shouta can probably go into better detail about reasoning.
I would love to see a fighting game that trains you in different ways through exercises. Here are some examples that I think Marvel could use (I choose this game because I know it best):
Stuff like this would be so fun to play through, and it would really teach folks how to play. Street Fighter could have focus attack tutorials and such.
I have not - do tell!Have you played Killer Instinct? I felt the trials in that game were pretty damn good.
Skullgirls Twitter said:Squigly's free period for #Skullgirls Encore on US PSN is almost up! After May 6 she'll be $4.99 so d/l her now.
Oh yeah, have to get her and Big Band before they make me pay for them. I'll play SG whichever week it comes free on PS+Not sure if this was posted already:
Also, you don't need the game to download her.
