Ouch, right in the gut! I mean, I never really thought the guy had a chance at playability, because it was quite honestly a longshot that such a completely brand-new IP was even going to be referenced... And yet, it was nice to be able to hope, to dream, to aspire. I feel like I should be overjoyed at having Wonder Red show up, but for now it just feels empty and hollow. Oh well, no use in crying!
If there's an immediate plus-side, it's a clear sign that the Trophy selection for this game will be more robust than in Brawl, and contrasts with the lack of representation for even super-notable titles like Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3. One of the primary reasons I play video games is for the collectables, so the way Trophies were executed in Brawl felt like a supreme disappointment after Melee.
I just checked Miiverse, and the VERY FIRST COMMENT says "Yes! I need more salt!" I really wish I had been drinking something, so that I could spit it over my screen... It makes me sad that some people are clutching at "b-b-but playable characters have trophies too, so not deconfirmed yet!" Just rip the band-aid off and let it go - this isn't Ridley's Shadow, and the rules of engagement have made it quite clear that newcomers are only shown alongside a trailer and a 10-screenshot profile.
Godspeed, y'all
