Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

And why would a multi release of Pokémon X2/Y2 reveal that their next handheld is not that different from 3DS, power-wise?

I wasn't taking about power, I meant that I'm not expecting 3D, dual screens or possibly even typical controls.

I feel like they're going to go completely out of the box after the so-so sales of the 3DS.

If this was announced before X & Y, I would have been very excited.

However, despite having skipped Gen IV & V, I was easily burnt out by X & Y. Most of it was the various training systems, which by and large feel unnecessary to me but at the same time felt the need to complete them to be the best. In the end, I only finished the 8th badge and haven't felt the need to return.

Hopefully this game will be different and return to the more straight up leveling and stat boosting, and it was a pleasant news bite to the morning.

Edit: Don't PvP much, which may be my problem of not appreciating.

Translucent 3DS carts please!

Lol, I'm still playing Ruby and Emerald right now.

So funny that you can take pokes from the original RSE and take them to their remakes.

Expecting Mega Luvdisc so that it would shed off the reputation of being the worst fully evolved pokemon so many generations in a row.

Best region in the series returns. Hype off the charts, and all they had to do was show me some fancy boxes.

I said dayyum.

See if you overlay the boxarts with their flipped versions and then with each other it kinda looks like a map OF A NEW REGION PERHAPS JUST SAYING

Hope hypothetical mega Sceptile is super awesome seeing as he's obviously a candidate for new Smash Bro, fire grass water trio + rep for this game...

Just realised that, for the first time ever, transferring from game to game is going to be easy and wonderful.

Upload to Bank from Pokémon X, download from Bank into Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

DONE.

Such a relief.

People can freak out however they want, but seeing these reactions just baffle me.

It's a remake of arguably the worst game in the series.

Still waiting for them to hook me like they did back in the day. Oh how I wish they would.

Some people enjoy Hoenn. Personally I am meh on it. However I looooooved the engine in X/Y bring that back along with mega evolves and trainer customization and I am there.

Hyped beyond belief.

That could be but I was expecting their next gen handheld to have a lot of differences from 3DS. It'll be pretty interesting to see what happens.

3DS will still sell for a while when its successor arrives. I wouldn't be surprised at a X2/Y2 3DS release in 2015 and a 3DS handheld successor release in the same year.

I mean. I'd be excited, but reading it on GAF is kind of not the same as a live conference.

Omega Ruby, here I come!

Holy shit, that came out of nowhere. And a worldwide November release, too? That is... pretty damn cool.

I wonder how long it takes for us to get some actual gameplay footage?

Unless it uses the XY engine (3D with active pokemon in battles) I'm gonna pass

But why wouldn't they use an enhanced XY engine?

I think they used a better R/S engine for FireRed and LeafGreen. And then they used a better Platinum engine for HGSS.

Love the titles too! Omega ruby and alpha Saphire! Awesome! Didn't really enjoy the graphics of ruby and Saphire all that much but with the 3D remake hopefully I can enjoy the 'mons from this generation more!

Nintendo's going to turn Pokemon into a yearly release, aren't they?

Going to? In the States they've been yearly since Platinum. 2008 was the last year without a new mainline Pokemon.

2007 (2006): Diamond/Pearl
2009 (2008): Platinum
2010 (2009): HeartGold/SoulSilver
2011 (2010): Black/White
2012: Black 2/White 2
2013: X/Y
2014: OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire

Sounds like these are sequels, not remakes.

Had a feeling they'd do that. You can still transfer Gen III Pokemon up to X&Y, so this is the only way to get around it that makes sense...

"New world" = new to loaaads of relatively young Pokemon fans who have never been to Hoenn. They'll play the nostalgia card for sure, but the beauty of them spacing out the remakes like this is to a massive portion of the Pokemon fanbase they're brand new games.
