Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

That, and the people who were into it during the 'fad' period started getting over it. Ruby & Sapphire happened right after Pokemon wasn't the new hotness. It was like Paris Hilton in 2007.

X/Y are gen 1 remakes.
 
So incredibly happy about this - remember drooling over how gorgeous Hoenn looked on the GBA to start with!

Can't decide what to go for - played Sapphire to death (well over 250 hours), so might be nice to go for Ruby for a change. Maybe I'll just buy both.
 
I really don't get why everyone is hyped for this. Do you forget the numerous Tentacruel you had to fight to get around the world because surfing was the only option for a while?

No, thanks, Nintendo. Unless Omega has some apocalyptic event where the sea routes are finally paved by magma cooling down to where I'm not fighting the "Zubat" replacement of caves, I'm good to wait until Gen 1-2 is re-remade.

X/Y are mad ugs though... so I don't expect this to be different.
 
I never had an issue with Ruby as a game per say. I quit at that point, but it was mainly because I'd become burned out on the franchise. I didn't know that gen was apparently so polarizing.

It would be nice if you could transfer Pokemon from X/Y without paying for the bank. Though a single 3DS i mean.

Did I state that the series didn't evolve? I said it didn't evolve past the formula of the first game, I even said it evolves at an excessive slow pace, which alone would imply that it has evolved.

Zeta Emerald, the sequel to both XY and Alpha\Omega! Making it the first 5th game.

Also, Zygarde is a green snake, so it's not that much of a stretch.

Yeah totally forgot Hoenn didn't get their shipment of Repel throughout the game.
 
Literally i went to the toilet came back and this happened

while i was dropping a log, Nintendo dropped the bomb

hated ruby and sapphire really, but maybe i can love them this time round
 
Seeing as somebody stole my copy of sapphire before I could beat it when I was younger I will get this and beat it for great justice.

ALL THE POKEMON GAMES.
 
Wow! Havent played the games back in the day so I cant wait for this remake. Will be a totaly new game for me and I'm super hyped because 1. so many from here are saying it is awesome and 2. my wife told me, we need a second 3DS for this.

If you mean the games that they announced today neither have you. My understanding is that a remake doesn't bode well for someone who expects the series to be more ambitious.

And again I didn't say it didn't evolve, I said it didn't evolve past the original formula.

Your point? People were hyped about Gold/Silver remakes even though the original games were full of problems.

Also, don't forget we had to deal with Tentacruel and Zubat in Gens 1 and 2 too.

Gen 6 dramatically fixed the encounter rate and I also imagine that the remakes will be similar to X/Y with having a plethora of other pokemon available so that you aren't just running into the same pokemon all the time.

Maybe its nostalgia for some. Personally I still play them and they still hold up really well. 60 FPS makes them feel so much faster than the other games, plus they have tons of really cool side activities: berry growing, secret bases, Pokemon Contests, the Trick House etc. Emerald is particularly great with the Battle Frontier, Trainer Tower and the double-battle gym leader rematches. Game Freak seemed to struggle to fill the later games with this sort of content.

If we don't get StreetPass Secret Bases in these new games, I will be very disappointed though.
 
I was just about to start Emerald because I missed out on the Hoenn games released when I was in my early angsty, grimdark, pokemon-is-for-children, teenage phase. Will skip ahead to Soul Silver instead now :D
 
I played Sapphire a while ago and I didn't get to spend a lot of time with the game. I beat it and that was that. I'm glad they're remaking it so I can finally put in some time playing one of them.
