Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

Im more surprised that some people actually didnt like X/Y.

No proper 3D in the overworld, only 70ish new pokemon for people who like to catch them all (a mega isn't new, it's got no pokedex entry and I can't see it in the PC outside battle) and a major step down from black/white in terms of involving gym leaders in the games plot. Back to basics structure that meant it felt the least new of any new gen since 2.

If you aren't in it for the PvP it's an easy game to be disappointed by.

I should say I still liked it but it was disappointing.

I hope they've improved the engine enough for at least a locked 30 fps. X and Y were horrendous. I hope we get 30 on the field and 60 in battles though.

Or they match RSE and get 60fps throughout the whole game.

"griffin like bird"...*looks at Rayquaza* I don't see it.
Rayquaza is most likely based on the Hebrew legends of Ziz, the unconquerable primal master of the sky. Its counterparts were Behemoth and Leviathan. Rayquaza's appearance also draws inspiration from other creatures of myth such as the Asian dragon and lindworm. Alternatively, Rayquaza matches the description of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, who was depicted as a flying serpent, and created the boundary between the earth (including the oceans) and the sky. Its trait of being capable of inhabiting the skies, and living there while subsisting on nothing but dew and particles for centuries, also bears aspects of the legendary Chinese xian hermit sages and East Asian dragons.
According to the bulbapedia editors. Go figure.

That was one of the few things right about XY, actually. Don't put it on a "bad things" list. There are already 730+ Pokémon for those who like to catch em all.

But I already caught all those ones. I don't want to catch them again. I want new ones to catch, BW gave us 150, even GSC managed 100.

Pokemon getting pretty close to that yearly release territory. I thought X/Y being worldwide would mean a bigger gap between them, but I guess not. This one is WW too. Interesting.

Aw yeah, my favourite gen, happy they did this before the second version of X/Y.

You did, but a lot of new players didn't. Don't catch them again, then.

You could go play against other people, like a lot of people do. That is actually the main aspect of the games since Gen 3, when they dropped the "gotta catch em all" slogan.

Still, rest assured, they are probably giving you a few more new Pokémon in Z/X2Y2.

Just realized I can trade pokemon from ruby and sapphire to their remakes.

Has the original version of a game and it's remake ever been compatible with eachother like that before? Lol

This is sort of exciting news! But X was my first Pokémon game, and I'm really on the fence about whether or not I'm ever going to buy another game in the series.

Basically I just ran through every gym with a normal type poodle Pokémon, occasionally bringing in some reserves. It took 30ish hours and I didn't think I'd learned anything about playing the game strategically. Then the online multiplayer and "meta" game (I'm using this term without really understanding what is meant by it) is incredibly complex and seems to require a tremendous amount of base knowledge to compete in. Every Pikachu isn't the same? Jesus, I not only have to learn 700 Pokémonsters but also how to spot which ones have better propensities suited to their strengths?

There needs to be a middle ground between the too-easy single player game and then the people who have been learning their Pokémon for almost 20 years. I really did enjoy walking through the world in X, though.

Crossposting from the community thread:
Interestingly, the Japanese logos for the games have the Omega and Alpha symbols in the same place where the Mega symbol went on the X and Y logo. These same symbols can be seen on Groudon and Kyogre's arms, respectively.

Omega and Alpha Evolution confirmed?

I'm hoping that they'll solve some of the performance issues that were in X/Y with this. It was really annoying having battles drop to like, 15-20fps at parts.

This video, for these new games, had 'gotta catch em all' in it though. It's undropped.

But yeah, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with introducing less new pokemon, I just expected at least 100 since it's happened every time before. I also expected full 3D like every other 3DS game and didn't get that. Again, not wrong per se but disappointing to me and a reason I didn't like Y as much as I could've. Just giving reasons :P

This, here, is why I think Game Freak making less Pokémon is a terrific thing. I fear for the day we will have more than 1000 Pokémon. :(

That is okay then. I had my reasons for not liking XY that much, too, they just happen to be different reasons altogether.
