Perfect, thank you so much!
Now where was I...

I could see them combining a Kanto remake with something else, like having a game take place in two alternating regions.

Also, the Regi puzzle needs to be expanded. In addition to the braille puzzle, each Regi should have their own dungeon filled with unique Pokemon of their type and puzzles before you can reach the legendary.

Regirock is easy. Its dungeon should contain Rock types like Larvitar and Strength boulder puzzles. Maybe some Pokemon fossils from older generations lying around too.

Regice should definitely have sliding ice puzzles, but it's tricky to think of awesome Ice type Pokemon that aren't legendary. Shellder (After it evolves), Swinub, and Sneasel are probably the best that aren't already in RSE.

Registeel is the trickiest. I think conveyor belts would fit a Steel type, but they're not exactly old-looking. The Pokemon are easier; Ferroseed, Bronzor, Honedge, there are a ton of awesome Steel types.
Regigigas should also be added for DAT 3 guaranteed perfect EVs.

Wonder if they'll add legendaries from other generations to the post-game. The legendaries from Gen II, IV and V don't have blue pentagon versions yet.

They should keep May and Brendan as the MC.

But they should carry over the dressup customizations from XY
Yes. I still don't understand why they removed Kris from GSC remakes. I like Lyra's design, but her addition to HGSS was totally pointless.

It will be very disappointing if they remove the character customization thing.

GBA was my number one gaming platform back in the day, and out of all the Pokemon games, Sapphire is the only one I've played extensively.

Still really want to complete all the other gens, but I'm so looking forward to revisiting Hoenn.

Nintendo, what are you doing!?!?!? Put the old games on 3DS eShop!!!

I started with Red and Blue. I've played every gen. None of them have come close to the masterpieces that were Gen II (and the Gen II remakes). Day/Night system, Introduction of Breeding, 16 badges, 2 regions, the battle with red, the legendaries, no Pokemon game has come close to introducing as many awesome features as Gen II. Gen III was a tremendous step back (although it did introduce some great Pokemon).
I am literally unable to comprehend this post. Are you from some kind of alternate reality?

Let's all bask in the glory of the best city theme in all of Pokemon, Sootopolis City

I was like 11 when Ruby came out and I remember getting it at launch. It was my second pokemon game (my first was Silver) but I wasn't really a die hard fan until Gen III. I spent over a thousand hours between Ruby and Emerald (and more when you throw in Leaf Green). And the Gamecube games were technically a part of Gen III as well, and those were pretty fun for what they were (and it was cool being able to battle my GBA pokemon on the big screen in 3D with friends). It was easily the gen I put the most hours into, so I've got a lot of nostalgia. But I did replay Emerald a year or two ago and still love it.

Gen 2 having Kanto killed Johto in terms of size and what they could do. The Kanto we got was pretty lame all things considered. Getting 16 badges was cool but the price the rest of the game paid for that was pretty high.

Yes. I still don't understand why they removed Kris from GSC remakes. I like Lyra's design, but her addition to HGSS was totally pointless.

I think they just redesigned her so much that she ended up as a completely different character, and so they changed her name too.

I think it was a smart decision. No one really cared about their E3, now there is some buzz and people should be expecting them to show some of this at E3. They made sure not to show any gameplay.

It can be seen that way, yes. Personally, I was already hyped for the E3 content, so it doesn't change much for me.

Also 4th Gen remake should come with 8th Gen, according to the current trend.

It's nostalgia that's making you think that. It's cool, it happens to the best of us.

...and yet I think R/B hasn't aged too well. If it's only nostalgia that's making me think Gen II was best, then one would think the same reasoning would apply to Gen I as well.

The changes made in Gold/Silver were incredibly minor gameplay wise compared to stuff that came later. Breeding was a big deal, but it was refined so much more later on, and stuff like the physical special split and abilities are way more important in battling, the main form of actual gameplay

I'm not into competitive PvP though, so I couldn't care less about stuff like that. I pick Fire Blast, Hyper Beam, and Surf, and then have fun. On the surface, G/S introduced a ton of really cool things that were removed in future games (or future games didn't introduce as many features). Coming from R/B, I think G/S was the biggest leap in quality than any other generation in the franchise, with Ru/Sa being the biggest step back. Simple as that.

The Regi's battle theme is literally the only track I would want to be changed. That shit give me headaches.

That would be weird, considering Ethan's redesign is kind of similar to his old one. Oh well, go figure.

The 3 things I liked about the Gen 5 games the most was the music, the story, and the battle speed/framerate. XY were immense letdowns that way, but at least I know these remakes should automatically check two of those boxes.

Consider me tentatively hyped.

November this year means towards the end of my first semester in my PhD program. RIP.

Man, Nintendo hitting it out of the park with Pokemon lately. I can't handle these worldwide releases. This announcement feels like it came out of nowhere.

This is cool. I love Gen 3 so I'll be sure to pick this up. But I guess I'm one of those people who never really felt like these games needed to be remade. They are pretty good as they are and they hold up really well today. I beat Emerald a couple of years ago and it was fine.

Nothing really about the game's visuals or gameplay seemed like it was needing a remake so I wonder what these remakes are gonna do with them.

What features were removed? The day night thing? because that was a novelty that sucks for anyone who can only play at specific times of the day and doesn't want to mess with the clock. A bunch of pokemon? All of them were still in the game and were able to be obtained through later gens. And I think even for more casual players, stuff like making the boxes not suck ass is a pretty big improvement.

I'm actually forgiving on GSC Gen 2, but absolutely think HGSS is a disappointment as far as remake goes. Better than FRLG but still disappointing.

HeartGold and SoulSilver perfected Gold and Silver. Those games had so much content. The Safari Zone that made it possible to catch basically everything except a smattering of Sinnoh exclusives? The Pokeathlon which became and remains the absolute, truly best "side-quest" in Pokemon and craps on Contests from a great height? The GB Player? The Giovanni/Celebi event giving closure to a decade of fan rumors? The impeccable music which has yet to be topped in the series? The sheer amount of in-game legend events such as Lati@s? Bringing back the following Pokemon feature from Yellow but applying it to every Pokemon? And on top of all that, the Pokewalker, which made it easy to get free items and hard to obtain Pokemon?

Yeah, excuse me if I don't share that opinion at all.

Is it sad that what excites me the most about this announcement is that we might finally get some love for Deoxys again? I love that pokémon more than what is probably healthy.

And interesting choice for names on the versions. We already have the Alpha pokémon in Arceus, so I wonder what they'll call the inevitable new (mega?) forme for Kyogre.
