Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

What features were removed? The day night thing? because that was a novelty that sucks for anyone who can only play at specific times of the day and doesn't want to mess with the clock. A bunch of pokemon? All of them were still in the game and were able to be obtained through later gens. And I think even for more casual players, stuff like making the boxes not suck ass is a pretty big improvement.
To be fair, the Battle Tower was also removed, and many people (not myself) enjoyed the two regions.

Oh, and they added annoying animations for HMs.

YESSSSSSSSS FINALLY HOENN CONFIRMED! I can't believe how fast Gamefreak keeps pumping out sequels nowadays, but if this is anywhere near as good as HGSS, I don't care. Why didn't they save this for E3 though? They BETTER have a real trailer there now that they bothered to announce it ahead of time.

This is cool. I love Gen 3 so I'll be sure to pick this up. But I guess I'm one of those people who never really felt like these games needed to be remade. They are pretty good as they are and they hold up really well today. I beat Emerald a couple of years ago and it was fine.

Nothing really about the game's visuals or gameplay seemed like it was needing a remake so I wonder what these remakes are gonna do with them.

I play Sapphire/Emerald every other month and they do hold up real well. But gen3 would benefit alot from getting all the mechanical changes that been made since it original release.

I remember when I said that these were in the perfect timeframe to be announced and Joe went haywire on my ass about how wrong I was. :p

Also,

HYPEEEEEE

Did X/Y ever get placed in the Pokémon timeline? As far as Gen V, the time line was:

FireRed&LeafGreen/Emerald -> (3 Years) -> HeartGold&SoulSilver/Platinum -> (more than than 3 years) -> BW -> (3 Years) -> BW2.

IM SO HYPE RIGHT NOW

Presumably X/Y's after BW2 since Looker is pretty prominent in X/Y's postgame, but I suppose it could take place any time during his adult life which includes before Platinum.

Are you being serious here?
Yeah.

I like the sprites. I'm sure it will benefit from all the modern upgrades to the battle system and online mode, though. I'm not against this remake or anything. Maybe it's just that I played Emerald not too long ago.

Gamefreak has two teams that trade-off games. This team probably started work on this right when Black/White 2 was finished.

As for announcement, I'm guessing it was because of all the bad financial news for Nintendo today.

BW/2 screwed up the timeline heavily. A Team Rocket grunt moved on, became a dad, and had a family by BW1. But in BW2 a ton of past characters appear looking almost unchanged. So it's really hard to tell when the hell BW/2 take place.

I am in no hurry whatsoever for a Sinnoh remake.

I couldn't be in more of a hurry.

Day/Night and 2 regions mostly. I thought the first was always pretty cool. If you didn't like it, then pull an animal crossing and just change the time on your DS (or include an option to turn it off, similar to exp share in X/Y. I think options are a great thing).

With 2 regions and 2x the badges, I felt like I was getting more content for my money. Kanto might've been pretty empty, but that's something they should have improved in the sequels and not have said "to bad, so sad" and never revisited.

Improving boxes was definitely a needed improvement, but it wasn't necessarily a "fun" improvement.

Guys... If this is announced now just how much stuff do they have to show at E3 if they couldn't fit POKEMON in there?!

I don't think that's the reason we got the announcement today.

Most probably it was a way to appease investors after the terrible financial year report.

I hope secret bases get a prominent online role. Can't wait for November <3

Sceptile could be shown at E3. They need a grass starter and he's a perfect physical candidate along with being related to the upcoming remakes...
Watch Serperior being announced as a playable character instead (don't ask me how a snake would manage to fight in a fighting game).

That makes sense. Sounds like this is being worked on by the A team, so it should be great.

It wasn't just Kanto being empty, it was Johto being small and short to factor in the balance.

I'd rather one large region like Sinnoh, B2W2 Unova and Kalos over two small regions.

I can see it work out, kinda. I have no problems imaging it attacking, but how would the hitbox work? Snakes are so long.

No idea, but I would fucking love to have Serperior in Smash. My favorite Grass-type starter.

By the way, "Serperior is too long" should become the next "Ridley is too big".

At least the names are incredible, Hoenn is my least favorite region/gen

Yeah, I was expecting something like "Radiant Ruby/Shining Sapphire", or "Terra Ruby/Aqua Sapphire". These sound way better.

It is funny that they went from the shortest names in the series to the longest, though.

Nah, that's probably not gonna happen haha.

Mega Drizzle: Permanent rain, just like the old days

Mega Drought: Permanent sun, just like the old days. Also, give Groudon Flare Blitz.

Mega Lock: Prevents mega evolution or weather effects as long as Mega Rayquaza is out

:-D

Oh...

Wow. My memory's bad.
I really like these ability ideas! Groudon should be more powerful than Ninetales lol

Pokken fighters at E3 mang.

On that note, it does make a lot more sense why Blaziken has been getting a lot more exposure lately. Getting a Mega-evo, being made a feasible posterboy of Pokken (along with Lucario). I know the new "Rising Fist" TCG pack is supposed to focus on Lucario, but I wouldn't be surprised if Blaziken was in there, too. Especially if Pokebeach's theory of the Rising Fist pack being released to help hype Pokken is correct, instead of the usual thing of going along with the summer movie release...
