Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

Incidentally, Pokémon Get☆TV is airing a reveal of Omega Ruby & Aqua Sapphire on Saturday. A trailer for the show aired during XY today. It's unlikely to feature any footage, just the reveal of the box arts, but there we have it.

It does say Gameboy Advance...

So it does lol

Nintendo generally doesn't talk about Pokemon at E3, correct?

Generally yes, but they went heavy on it at E3 last year. It opened the Direct, and it also got its own roundtable conference with reveals and trailers.

I can't see ORAS getting quite the same treatment, but it's certainly likely to make an appearance. Before the worldwide launch policy started, they never had enough English footage to make bringing it to E3 worthwhile.

Really hoping for much more content in the remakes. Something like FR/LG, where you can travel to different Islands. Travelling to an other region would be too much, I think, but I wouldn't mind it. Also, make NPC's wanting to fight again, just like in the original ones. Being able to fight against Gym Leaders again and again, was pretty cool. They should also get stronger over time and not just once.
Level 100 fights or bust :P

I wasn't a fan of Mega Evolutions and I wouldn't mind them dropping them completely. Didn't feel like Pokémon at all, to me and I used them like twice. Couldn't care less, about those, but I also don't want to be selfish, so people who want them, should be able to get more Mega Evolutions.

Edit: Nevermind

another mock up for AS

Not enough trumpets ;)

Actually, speaking of the music, I noticed the best Pokemon composer, Hitomi Sato, is criminally under-represented in Pokemon X & Y's OST. I'm really hoping that's because she's spearheading OR/AS's OST. If so, we can expect a lot of wonderful melodies and, hopefully, significant piano and keyboard representation ;)
Unlike the rest of the sound team members, Sato's one of Game Freak's head game designers! I wouldn't be surprised if her lack of tracks on the new album is due to working so hard on the game itself. This also means that she'll always have to split duties even on remakes, whereas lazy Ichinose usually just wants to do music (which isn't always the case, since he did Soriti Horse recently). Both musicians do great keyboard work, so we're alright.

So, the Daisuki Club got this e-mail today (only just got pointed to it, I just ignored it this morning and didn't bother reading)

The last three bits are interesting.

It ends up pointing out the differences to Groudon & Kyogre on the box-art, stating that they're showcasing "never before seen Pokémon", the same terminology they used for Black & White Kyurem, as well as Mega Mewtwo Y upon their reveal, indicating that they are more than stylised artwork of the Pokémon.

Would the black cart for Black/Black 2 not count? Or are we only talking about the semi transparent ones?

Those are actually red. Hold them up to the light sometime.

Building the IR sensor into the cart makes it difficult to actually make them any other colors.

Team Mega gains a win.

Really hoping they are not shitty rush jobs after X and ,Y a decent frame rate in 3D, 3D in all areas and some actual decent post game content is needed badly.

Ehh... I'm not the biggest fan of Gen 3, but I'm getting this anyway, not going to lie about that. I just think remakes were not necessary after the first two gens. So, it's just going to be Ruby/Sapphire with X/Y graphics? Like it always goes. Great covers, btw.

I was thinking about this yesterday. Jokingly I mentioned to a friend "watch, these guys aren't even Groudon or Kyogre but some sick twisted form of them".

Curiously though, are the other Megas indicated as "different" like Mega Mewtwo Y? inb4 we've been staring at Mega Groudon and Mega Kyogre for the last 24 hours.

Well it was a given. Too many changes to be just a different design.

So much for Gen 6 being a gen where all formes exist in the first game (I know they never promised this but the hidden content implied it may have been possible). I guess they could always patch in Alpha Kyogre and Omega Groudon (given the symbols on their arms this is the best thing to refer to them as) for XY to maintain battle spot compatibility (since you need the latest version to play in battle spot...).

Mega could be interesting from a tactical view. As in switch in activate drought then transform and get an ability along the lines of turboblaze to replace the drought (would kind of suck if you switched out though)

The trailer already said that the game was in 2D with some areas in 3D.

A patch to add in Pokemon is about as likely as one to add new moves. Pretty sure Masuda shot it down.

Well we only got other Mega Evolutions revealed after the concept came.

Here, they've revealed nothing of the game yet. The could be Mega Evolutions, they could be forms, they could be something new. We have to wait and see. Exciting, isn't it? :)

You've got your extreme cases like Mega Mewtwo X & Y, Gengar and Mawile, and then you have your not so extreme ones:

There doesn't seem to be any rule regarding how different they have to look. I'd guess they have to at least be distinct enough to get unique merchandise, but similar enough to obviously be the same Pokemon.

The only reason they dont is because the games typically release in Japan a year earlier than in the west so why would they waste time discussing pokemon when most pokemon fans already have all the info. However, now that X/Y has done worldwide releases the pokemon games will be heavily discussed. So I expect a good amount of info about Oras.

I really hope these games have a better Safari than X & Y... Man, I miss the days of the Safari Zone

Why?

If I see a rare or shiny Pokémon, I prefer to have a decent opportunity to catch it instead of having to worry about it running away.

You don't know the pain of having a shiny Heracross run away. :(

Got this as well, wish theyd added some pics tho! Kind of hoping these aren't meg-evolutions though... bit plain from what I can tell...plus I don't want a mega-evo for EVERY legendary!

Before X & Y last year, the only time there were non-localised announcements was at E3 2003 when:

Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire
Pokémon Colosseum
Pokémon Channel
Pokémon Box: Ruby & Sapphire

were all announced.

Still saying they're formes.

It's awesome how that video has over 1.5 millions views. All it is is a picture of the the box art literally nothing else lol.

I actually remember guessing these Pokémon game names years ago, but I thought it would be the other way around. Alpha Ruby and Omega Sapphire roll better off the tongue to me.

These worldwide releases are awesome. It has always been crappy having an announcement like this and realize that Japan will get it in 6 months and that NA won't get it for about a year. Instead, we are all able to count down to November. Hopefully the Pokemon Company (or Nintendo, whoever is in charge of distribution) gets their act together and makes sure that no one gets the game around 2 weeks in advance like with X&Y.
