Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

LMAO

Is there a place I can see these all together

I don't even comment on the Ridley updates anymore, because every single one you created since the beginning has been amazing. I'm looking forward to it as much as the PotD.

This is literally every race on Mirror Mode.

...Man, FUCK Mario Kart Wii. Fuck it straight to hell.

Holy shit, so true. Getting all the unlockables has been hellish (you basically have to get first place in every race in every cup).

I always turned the dragoon off because of tge smash ball.

I hope this time onde item doesn't interfear with another item's appearance

Pic of the day. Uniting three parts will complete the legendary Air Ride machine…the Dragoon! It's back! But we didn't just leave it the way it was, and added some nice touches to the design of the targeting screen. It is, of course, in stereoscopic 3D on the 3DS.

Just the target screen felt lacking so here's a pic of the Dragoon itself. I wanna get on it. I wanna get on and ride it.

YES!
Loved the dragoon just for the fight over the pieces.
And in 3D!!,
That'll will look amazing

I've been spriting the assist trophies from the direct still btw.
I'll post em all online together once I'm done, but if anyone wants a specific
char as an avatar let me know & I'll post em when they're done.

I would love chain chomp, if you're doing it! :) (and nobody else called it :( :( :()

Has the hype died down for anyone else? Since the huge Direct we got and Mario Kart 8 on the way, my hype for Smash has dropped. I still plan on getting both versions but at this point my hype is really low.

I think a lot of the hype of smash bros is in the mystery for sure. Having a HUGE info dump with not much afterwards caused it to die down. On the dojo for brawl, we NEVER knew what we were getting next. It could be a veteran, it could be a newcomer, it could be a stage, it could be... widescreen support. But the fact that we NEVER knew what it would be meant that every day was hype.

Current smash website, the only hype is for veterans, since we never know when they'll appear, but it's been since... february since one was announced on the website. So now, all we really have is E3 hype and smash 3ds release hype. For all we know, everything he wants to show, character-wise, has been shown already. Maybe 1-2 more vets and 1-2 more newcomers for e3, maybe. We don't know. Maybe the rest are secret.

Yes, the post-direct lull has killed hype a bit, but i'm still looking forward to it.

No my hype has expanded 10x since those directs and all my friends are talking about and replaying smash. We're all counting down to e3 for for info

Wait for E3.

re: hype and infodumps

Personally I'm hoping there's still some secret characters/items/stages once the game launches.
It's kinda lame how they spoiled everything about MK8.

Yeah, I really don't like nintendo's new trend of revealing absolutely everything about the game before launch. I don't get the appeal.

Maybe they're trying to broaden the appeal of the games by publicly announcing everything and hoping at least ONE thing sticks, that way more people are interested? "Oh, you weren't going to buy the game before... what about pink gold peach... you gonna buy it now?"

I dunno. It's just a bummer. It's like having a 10 minute trailer for a movie that reveals all major plot points, even most of the ending, so you can figure it out on your own. Not exactly, but it's what it feels like.

I think at least in Mario Kart's case it's because they're really counting on the game to carry the Wii U to profitability, and the more media that's out there the better.
Still, I hope it's not a trend that they stick with.

Should have put Hydra in this time. Dragoon is ok I guess... :P

If you really think about it, Hydra always made more sense as this item, but for some reason it's Dragoon. The best feeling ever is just simply running someone over in City Trial with Hyrda and laughing at them as all their pick-ups flop out of them like a sack of dropped fish. >:U

Also, I swear your avatar never loads properly.

Yeah. I want to play more City Trial. It's been way too long. Loved it way back then though.

I forgot about the avatar thing. I've been meaning to change it.

I hope they tone down the Dragoon Piece spawn rate for this one.
I could be remembering incorrectly, but I used to play a lot of 5-minute matches of Brawl, and you were pretty much guaranteed to get at least one full Dragoon per match. It was pretty ridiculous.

The worst item has now been confirmed for SSB4.

Dragoon is an absolute pain. You can't even get Smash Balls when Dragoon pieces are in play.

Smash Ball's been known since the games were revealed.

.

I will go as far as saying that the smash ball was (and still is) a desing mistake for what smash bros is (was ;P). And i am not even talking about specific final smashes. Some were a lot worse for the gameplay than others, but i think that the smash ball and final smashes should not exist.
When playing with items, i played without it a lot, maybe most of the time?? (i cant remember)

Items were waaaay to broken in brawl. I still remember (even if i havent played brawl since forever) that i didnt like many of the new items from brawl.

Arguments for Ridley's inclusion:

*People have been wanting a second Metroid rep
*Other Metroid characters either have been deconfirmed or else are less significant
*Ridley is easily one of the coolest Nintendo characters
*Smash needs more villains
*Coming up with the moveset would be much easier than, say, WFT or Little Mac

Unrelated: Has the Star Rod been confirmed? My favorite battering item there.

Yes, it's confirmed.

I was wondering this the other day - would it be worse if Ridley wasn't in Smash, or if Ridley was in Smash but was awful to play as (floaty, weak, awkward controls etc)?

The latter. The idea of Ridley being in Smash is better than it would ever actually be if it happened. Our best bet is to just keep hoping for Ridley, and for Sakurai to not include him. I'm pretty sure he would end up pretty bad anyway, from Sakurai's "He would have to be pretty slow. Is that ok?"

Charizard's shape, Megaman's projectile propensity and Bowser's size.

Palutena's final smash, silly :p

It would be cool to have another 'smash ball tier' item (that prevents other smash ball tier items from appearing).

Triforce.

Technically Zero Suit Samus is a second Metroid rep

Also, since when are "need more villains" and "coming up with the movesets" considered legitimate arguments?

Since they justify the inclusion of a character they want, silly.

I think there are no pokemon reps without limbs, which justifies the addition of dratini.
