The Wii U will have enough screen space to do all of that on the TV.
It's pretty nice, but...only 39 characters?Just saw this,
I had a good idea how the character select screen may work.
This is for the 3DS game, but could obviously be replicated with the GamePad:
The bottom screen will have all the character icons, rules etc. ready to tap and select.
The top screen will be divided into four "columns" with like a dark grey background, sort of foggy, think of it like one of those dingy boxing arenas, and each column will show a full character model in their idle positions with their "Player 1" things around them and with their logos in the corner.
It's hard to visualise, and i'm awful at editing, but I hope y'all get what I mean.
I hope it's going to be 2-3 newcomer reveals, but I have a gut feeling we'll only get one. I know everyone is thinking Pac-Man (and it is pretty likely), but I just don't see that generating much hype. Honestly, they can't really show anything that'll top the excitement of Mega Man.How many characters will we expect at E3?
^lol I see what you did there, Red Arremer.
How many characters will we expect at E3?
not my fault 2 posts came in the way lol.But he's nowhere on this page. :3
I wasn't referring to the fact it is HD. Every console entry has had enough screen space for its respective roster and I don't see it being diffwrwnt for Smash 4.Yeah, as this is the first console Nintendo has designed with HD in mind, I expect them to design their menus with widescreen in mind. Should be able to have more stuff going on.
I thought you were imitating those who said that for the NA release of Kirby 3D.What did I do? lol
Just saw this,
Meta Knight doesn't even show up in Triple Deluxe!
Sure this is not accurate, but Target has a August 29 release date for Smash 3DS on their site. Check it:

Well...
That makes me think it's a placeholder. It's due out by the end of summer, so they put the end of summer (the end of August) as a placeholder.Sure this is not accurate, but Target has a August 29 release date for Smash 3DS on their site. Check it:

Yeah, August feels a little late to me. Either way, it's crazy to me we'll almost for sure have a new Smash game within three months.Seems possible as it's still Summer.
I think a mid-late July date is spot on though.
I think that is what they consider to be the end of summer. It is the last weekday before August ends. I think most game companies view August as the last month of summer while view September as an autumn month.Sure this is not accurate, but Target has a August 29 release date for Smash 3DS on their site. Yeah, I'm sure it's bogus. I wonder how retailers decide when to put dates up for games without official release dates; it always seems so random.I think that is what they consider to be the end of summer. Smash will definitely have an international release or really close to one.The game is definitely coming out in August. NOA never releases games in July. Plus, I'm pretty sure Nintendo always announces release dates at least 2 months prior.
It seems that Target just put what they think the possible date for its release like how some retailers put "31st of December 2014" as the release date for games for games that are known to be coming out in 2014, but not known which month/season/quarter it will release.Yeah, I'm sure it's bogus. ACTUAL SPOILER YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
yes he does
Smash will definitely have an international release or really close to one.
So I don't think NOA will have final say on the matter, but I'm guessing they will take that into consideration.
I'm hoping for some genuine surprises at E3. It's pretty sad that so sure we'll see Pac-Man that most of my hype is already been deflated. Everyone knows he's coming.
I really don't want this to be the case. I honestly really, really don't care for Pacman. He's not cool, interesting, or relevant. He's never been anything worth while in my opinion. =/

What? Dude, you ever play Championship Edition DX? You should, it's great!I really don't want this to be the case. I honestly really, really don't care for Pacman. He's not cool, interesting, or relevant. He's never been anything worth while in my opinion. =/
he's still probably the most famous video game character of all time
in fact, yep, I can say with absolute certainty this is true

Oh I absolutely want Pac-Man in, It's just in comparison to showing Villager and Mega Man (who no one was expecting to even show up because of how Capcom has been lately) he just won't make as big of a splash as last years E3.
The tourney should help build up the hype though.
Eh, I'm pretty sure they'll be unlockable. Shulk would be a nice surprise, and Palutena would make for a nice kid Icarus unlockable. I also can't imagine why she hasn't been revealed already if she's not unlockable.I agree with you, don't you worryI'll be expecting more. Shulk and/or Palutena seem reasonable. Pac-Man alone wouldn't be quite enough.
Again, I'm still counting on Sakurai to do the right thing and include Layton and Wright, though. That's my bar for my mind to be blown.

It's actually confirmed for a summer release date, so no.August seems early for smash 3ds.
Still expecting September.
He's probably not showing off unlockables though, except for third parties. There seem to just be less newcomers overall this time around.I don't think that really matters any more. He's got to show off the newcomers, because so far there's only 5 of them.
I doubt it, if that was the case we'd be getting rapid-fire reveals pretty soon. Mario Kart also hasn't had much of a problem with revealing unlockable content in the past, while Smash has.The way they handled it with MK8, basically showing everything, makes me wonder if they won't do the same with this.
It's actually confirmed for a summer release date, so no.
Not really, summer is considered to end at the end of August for the most part. Most of September is summer.
Happy Mother's Day, SmashGAF.
Did you show your mom some love today? Fingers crossed for a belated Earthbound update tomorrow.

September 22 is the last day of summer this year. Not really, summer is considered to end at the end of August for the most part.
There's no reason to think that Lucario and a Toon link won't be available from the beginning, and sheik definitely won't lol. Luigi might be the only non-3rd party exception, as Sakurai noted that this was an unusual case, and attributed it to the Year of Luigi. There's nothing to suggest that he's revealing any other unlockables. They already are doing that. Lucario, Toon Link, Luigi... they aren't gonna be available from the beginning! I wouldn't be surprised if characters Greninja or Sheik need to be unlocked either. Marth might have got a promotion, depends on if he's the only FE character or not.
Yeah, they'll totally show off most of the roster. Not all of it (Falcon, Ness, Puff, G&W, ROB etc) but most of it. Especially notable newcomers.
Technically yes, but September is considered a Fall month, not a summer one. The last summer month is August.September 22 is the last day of summer this year.
