Hoenn isn't stylish enough.
Why would following Pokemon be scrapped? Why would Vs. Seeker be scrapped? Why would Pokemon Contests be scrapped? Why would the Battle Frontier be scrapped? Why would naming your rival be scrapped? Why would Secret Bases be scrapped? Why would the Underground be scrapped? I could keep going.
Game Freak doesn't care about scrapping things that enhance the experience. It's a total fucking shame.

EDIT: Off topic but does anyone here know how well Gates to Infinity sold? It wasn't nearly as good as EoT, EoD, and EoS, but I really want a gen 6 Mystery Dungeon game.

I am really hoping for more customizable options, and a no hat option.

This. Also more male trainer clothing and personal appearance options. No duster coats, paper boy hats and NO DREADS/TWISTS was saddening.

Give the duster coat after beating the league.

Well it was a big upgrade from GEN II to GEN IV.
The way the trainers are designed didn't change very much since 2003/2005
(or at least the gap is much less big than between Silver/Gold and SS/HG). It don't expect the new Hoenn characters to be much different than the originals.
The issue is the way the characters are designed in the overworld since X/Y... ("dwarf" syndrom)

Character customization is more important than all of those things.
The only reason it might be scapped is because of the two old protagonists.
