Who is Who

The Last Guardian, known in Japan as Hitokui no Ōwashi Trico literally "Trico, the man-eating eagle" and previously referred to by the working title Project Trico, is an upcoming video game developed by Team Ico and distributed by Sony Computer Entertainment.

History

The game has been in development since 2007, and was formally announced at the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo with a planned release in 2011 exclusively for the PlayStation 3 video game console. The game has since suffered from numerous delays and further complications, including Ueda's departure as a full-time employee of Sony, though he remains as a consultant on the project. Sony has since left the release date and platform in question but, as of March 2014, state the game remains in development.

Plot

The Last Guardian's story follows that of a boy who is trying to escape from a setting resembling the ruins of a large expansive castle. The game will revolve around the developing friendship between the boy and a giant, feathered creature resembling a griffin named Trico. The name of the creature can be taken to mean "prisoner" or a portmanteau of "bird". Trico has spears and arrows stuck in its back, and is initially bound by a chain. Later, it is freed and is shown attacking an armored soldier.

Thou shall reveal

A small update was also posted for "The Last Guardian," which is rumored to be a PS4 title. Although the industry insider couldn't confirm if the long-delayed project would be re-announced at E3 2014, he was recently told that the action-adventure game is still in development. An executive at Sony Computer Entertainment did state that the company is waiting for the right time in order to re-introduce the video game to the public.

The insiders also confirmed that "The Last Guardian," which was previously a PS3 exclusive title, has been "retooled" for the PS4. The impressive-looking title was delayed indefinitely although Sony Computer Entertainment insisted that the project has not been cancelled. In addition to the E3 2014 reveal, the publisher may possibly announce a launch window of this winter.

The managing and development of the game is such a clusterfuck I have no faith that the game will actually be good.

My wife let me get a PS3 because of seeing this game (and having loved Ico and SotC back on her PS2)... Needless to say, if this appears on PS4, I'll have to find money for it... but I think we'll wait till the game actually comes out this time.

The only downside? The game will never live up to it's hype.
 
lol, they didn't even say who the insider was.

Poor Shinobi, not even getting credit for his leaks. Mind you, shinobi said clearly that he didn't know if GOW ascension was 1080p 60 fps, but some sites misrepresented what he said.
 
honestly the more you guys hype yourselves up, the more you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

I swear peoples' hype and expectations for this game are through the roof

even if the game is just "great" it'll easily disappoint people and be considered "decent".
 
Shadow of the colossus must have left an impression to people if they are anticipating this. I know I love little boy with big cute animal as companion stories. But this is too much. I know that shadow of the colossus is a darling from GAF. But every year people are asking for last guardian come on. If isnt announced, its not real, I do hope that Sony people read NEOGAF, because every week there is a thread about Last Guardian, so I hope they think "GAF people, we will make it"
 
This game is never going to be as good as people expect it to be. I think that's what Ueda slowly came to realize with the rise of indie games (many of which have taken inspiration from his creations).
 
There is a guy on GAF with a rally car avatar, he used to work at Sony UK. He also said the game had been moved to PS4 (this was before the PS4 was announced and before Project Orbis rumors started)
