hehe, relax. Its just an option for people that wont use kinect. Im a happy kinect user also, there nothing wrong with this ;)

Well it kinda guarantees the Kinect won't be used all that much in AAA games.

Why would a dev bother spending money and time on a feature which would only apply to a fraction of a fraction of their user base?

Xbox One Kinect for sale. Literally never used. I'll sell it for £50 but you need to be quick. One time only offer for today. Like, within the next minute!

Of course. Voice stuff is not related to camera stuff.
Not exactly. Kinect has the mic itself and knows who is talking. So they would need the headset to now be able to understand the commands. Assuming voice is even a part of this sku, that is.

If true I'm surprised this is happening so early in the cycle.

I think they fear having a WiiU-like situation and, unlike nintendo, are going to act as fast as they can to try and prevent that from happening. Kudos on them for making smart moves to try and push units, although you can argue that had they not made so many boneheaded mistakes with the Xbone that they wouldn't be making these major changes in the first place.

Still, the first current-gen machine that gets 3D blu ray support is clearly going to win it all so let's keep an open mind about these things.

Maybe the result of Titanfall not performing as expected?

Eitherway, smart of MS to act fast. The more time they give Sony to pull ahead the worse their chances get.

The generation has already been pretty much decided I think but you never know.

So a device that was developed for years to be an always-online machine that utilizes the Kinect is being half-assedly overhauled and changed within the first year to resemble something that consumers would actually want to buy.

They are flailing, trying desperately to grab on to the coattails of the PS4. This doesnt exactly give me the warm and fuzzy feeling about Microsofts plans for the future of Xbox since they will basically just throw away any business model at the drop of a hat.

This generation is barely beginning, we all remember what kind of standings Sony was on at the start of last generation. We have a solid 6-8 years of these machines, whatever they're seen as or marketed as now will be completely different in the coming years, they're all going to evolve and change.

I still have my day one controller and achievement....so I mean, there's that, lol. I actually have a replacement XBone on it's way to me because the fan started sounding like a nest of birds chirping. I wonder if this news will lower the cost of the extended service plan, because I'm thinking of buying one now.

Launch buyers am cry.
Why? I am a big fan of the kinect. I guess some buyers are not, but reading the forum makes it seem like kinect haters just didn't buy an xbox. Hopefully they continue to use the kinect though. I want to see some games use the controller passing feature.

If they can backtrack on this. Can they backtrack on this shitty GPU?

this is what I don't get. People are acting like this is the second coming, but all Kinect ever did was make it a REALLY bad price value. The fact remains that it is still a poor value next to PS4 given the hardware (as we are still seeing/hearing from devs and reviewers 8 months later)

Is it really possible, that Microsoft.....can learn?

Sales must be pretty disappointing at this point from Microsoft's perspective. Would love to see a $349 model or even a $299 model.

Just realized they're taking a page out of Sony's handbook, getting buzz pre-e3 has payed out huge dividends for Sony in the past.

This is already exciting. Im interested now. Glad I waited and didnt buy at launch. Were Xbox sales that bad that they are forced to drop it?
