It's a game where you kill the same dozen of creatures hundreds of times in the same few enviroments to farm some items you'll later use to improve your equipment so you can fight harder battles and repeat the cycle again. The game is focused on co-op play. Bosses have mechanics and patterns you should learn to avoid damage.

I could be talking about WoW raiding though. For me, hunting games are like offline MMORPGs with lower budget and focus on what really makes them great (boss fights).

So Monster Hunter and company are like MMO's little brothers XD

They don't have a story.

First physical Vita game I've bought since P4G.

Speaking of MH clones, do we have a release date for Freedom Wars? I've got some traveling to do this summer and I'll need a new game for it...

should I just buy this digital and be done with it?
the gameplay/battlesystem is fun right? -not just a pure fanservice kinda game?-
It's basically Musou/Dynasty Warriors with Japanese schoolgirls instead of Chinese generals. I'm probably going to also buy the game digitally and keep the LE sealed.

If the retail edition is that limited price will probably go up with time. You're keeping it sealed for that reason?

It's essentially a Musou clone, definitely a better game than the 3DS one, which was a very barebones sidescroller brawler with terrible framerate.

At this point MH is the only game that doesn't have a story. God Eater, Soul Sacrifice, Phantasy Star Online/Portable/Nova, Ragnarok Odyssey (?), Toukiden, Freedom Wars... all of them have a story.

At this point, you should also call Final Fantasy Type 0 and Sword Art Online clone of Monster Hunter also.

Guy, I'm actually thinking about selling my Toukiden retail copy. They'd probably release it 1.5 for retail, right? And I'm expecting it to appear on PS+ in the next 6 months...

If I sell it know I'd be able to get FF HD or Danganronpa for 10€. And it seems I won't be able to buy a full price game anytime soon :S

At this point, I've heard of people calling Final Fantasy Type 0 and Sword Art Online a Monster Hunter clone.

The line is quite blurry.

Even if 1 game shouldn't be on that list, what about the rest? Most hunting games have a story.

So I just noticed that the online pass for Wipeout 2048 which came with physical copy has been replaced with the plus version and it will expire when plus expires. That is pretty shitty! Should I contact sony? I do have a backup of my physical game.

I can't understand this clone propaganda. Figure this shit out yourself.

Lol. I don't mind it is. I'm the first guy that doesn't consider any of those games "Monster Hunter clones", just a young genre that is still in the "every game is X" phase. I only pointed out what things all the games in this genre have in common.

Due to those difference they're not copies of each other.

I think you misinterpreted me xD

408p... I guess is not native res.

The line is not blurry at all, people is just lazy or stupid or trying to hate Vita, how can anyone with a sane mind can call this a monster hunter clone?

Well I've been fighting it but I need a 64GB Vita card. Now I just need to save up to get one.

Been enjoying Rayman Origins on the Vita alot recently. I've been enjoying it so much that P4G has been put on hold until I finish

Is Rayman Legends a big upgrade? I got Origins through PS+ and I'm wondering if it is worth buying

It's graphically more appealing, to me at least. In nearly every other way it's a downgrade though. They cut out a HUGE (and trust me, it is substantial) portion of the traditional platforming levels, and replace them with "Murfy" levels where you have to remove obstacles for another player using the touch screen. These are literally 50% of the game. It's incredibly perplexing and disappointing.

I'm going to pass on SSD at that price. I was raving for Monster Monpiece for months now so I reaally would be buying it day one. Although a Crazy Humble Bundle right now is currently about to wreck me again.

Oh and Watch_Dogs is 900p. I am now cancelling that preorder and will just wait for reviews / screens here in GAF.

Poor Phantasy Star Online.

Released 4 years before Monster Hunter, yet still called a clone.

As much as I enjoyed MH, most of the stuff that surround it is just not quite... as good. Let's just put it at that.

At this rate, you might as well call Ys a Monster Hunter clone.

Edit: From this point onwards, I'm going to call every RPG with a good scripting to be a Legend of Heroes clone - the Story RPG.

I promised myself I wasn't going to buy any more games for a couple of months, but Dragon's Crown just went back on sale for 20 bucks and I had a moment of weakness.

Any tips for a newbie DC player?

so Dynasty Warriors 8XL or Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus?

how much content is there in Senran Kagura? Is there depth or just repetitive and erotic?

maybe DW on ps4 and SK on vita

Well hello there NeoGAF; it's been a long time coming.

In case you don't know me, my name is Kyle Wakeling and I'm the Editor in Chief over at popular Vita site TheVitaLounge.net - writing news, reviews, and anything else I can think of that's Vita-related.
Welcome! I have not been to your site, but I will surely check it out when I am off work.
Man, can't wait. Never played Minecraft before although it has been released to pretty much every platform from rocket launcher to toaster.
Man that toaster version sounds awesome...
:D
Is it bad that I want to buy the DoA5 Complete Costume DLC since it's going to be only $10 starting tomorrow when I don't even own DoA5 yet?
Not bad at all, I am in the same boat. I saw some conversation about the Vita compatibility with it though, are these packs for PS3 only I see?

Excellent grab! Mess around with each class a little bit, from what I hear they all play pretty differently, so you can tailer your choice to your playstyle. I have only played the scorceress, but she's at level 95 or so. I love her play style. I want to play others...but I can't help but try to eek my sorc up to 100. A lot of ranged attacks, barely any physical for her. I love raining death from above :D
