Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

As of Sunday, Mew2king, Mango, Hbox and Ally know nothing.

I would think invitations would have been sent out before even the announcement of the invitational though locked under NDA for at least a while (just to make sure the people they want can actually show up). This statement isn't a confidence boost :/

I'm on board with the hypothesis that the tournament participants will each be assigned one of the newcomers. Did we get a list of participants/commentator, btw?

Somehow I doubt there will be 16 newcomers. There certainly aren't that many currently announced, and I don't see more than 3 additionally being announced at E3. I am pretty sure it will be a mix of both old and new characters. I definitely don't think they will have a Smash tournament without Captain Falcon there, either way, so I stick to what I said.

The PR says 16 pro players, not the 16 top players. Those individuals are probably not invited since invitations would have been settled before announcing the event. I also bet people who are invited can't say because of NDA.

Sakurai will reveal his own Final Smash and clone himself to the point where he is all 16 participants.

Just this for every match.

There's no way Sakurai is going to let that tournament at E3 happen without him. If he's not revealed before E3, I totally expect him either in the digital event or at the tournament before it starts.

He'll get shown with the new F-Zero game that is being shown at E3. BELIEVE!

Pic of the day. Here's one of my personal favorites, the trophy of Brittany from Pikmin 3. She won't be joining the battle, but her model and expression is well-designed.

The amount of information we have about the tournament seems really odd to me. Like, the press release's wording seemed to be very specific with "highly skilled players," but then.......why haven't they contacted anyone in the community about it? And if they're not looking at the community then who is going to be in the tournament? I mean I get that it could be the press but then why would they specifically say "highly skilled players" and not "the press"? And it could be people from Nintendo but then they're not really inviting people to the tournament it isn't really an Invitational tournament.

NDAs man; anyways just take the information when it comes, no use worrying about such a thing.

I am soooo suspicious of that word "pro." :|

M2K can stick out this tourney as long as we get somebody watchable. There's a big difference between Ken vs. Scar and Bill Trinen vs. Shokio.

I know I'm sounding entitled but the pictures of trophies are my least favorite POTD updates
In some ways I'll agree but probably for a different reason. Trophies can still be a nice surprise when we know all the stages and characters in the game because people often never talk about all the trophies so it is something you can easily find on your own at your own pace without the worry of Internet spoilers.

Okay, as unlikely as it always was, I could see why a few people out there held out hope that Wonder Red might be playable until his trophy reveal.

But people are seriously surprised/disappointed that Brittany is not playable? Wha?

I think it's more that people were hoping for pikmin alts

Which was always highly unlikely since it would conpromise the integrity of the original character but now it's even more improbable with today's comment.

This game is one disappointment after another. First there's too many pokemon taking all the slots, second there is way too much content in the game, and now Brittany is not playable. IDK if I want this game anymore.

You forgot about Ashley, Ridley being a stage boss & charizard Y not being in teh game.

Yay for Brittany! Looks like an original model/pose?

Pikmin 3 really surprised me with how developed and engaging the characters of the new Captains were. It felt like a significant step up over the previous games, to the point where Olimar's absence didn't end up being the huge disappointment that I had been expecting. Stripping most of the abilities of the purple and white Pikmin in challenge mode, on the other hand...

I would have loved to see any of the three as playable in Smash, but unfortunately they all utilise the Pikmin in the same way as Captain Olimar, so I really can't see that there's any way to differentiate them moveset-wise. Some franchises are just destined to be stuck with a single representative in perpetuity, I guess.
