So what do you guys think this means for Alph as a possible clone newcomer to Olimar?

I've thought of it before but honestly I don't think he's going to be playable.

I though Olimar could use the older Pikmin while Alph uses the Flying and Rock Pikmin as part of his moveset but I don't really see it as plausible anymore with most of Alph's ideal moveset taken by Olimar.

Because revealing Female Villager will end up revealing that one can change both the Villager's face design and top design independently from each other!

If so , it is entirely possible that a cut character might be put back in as DLC down the road. Not that that will salve any wounds if Captain Falcon is getting cut.

To be fair, Male Wii Fit Trainer had been shown before the Direct, just not confirmed to be a costume. The only actual reveal there was Wireframe Little Mac, and I guess they might have wanted to show it rather than Villager to avoid giving the impression that all alternate costumes would be limited to gender variations.

I'm okay with no more characters until E3. I'm pretty sure we basically know the roster at this point, so I'm content with Trophy Wednesdays and Assist Trophy/Boss reveals up until E3. At the very least, we'll get some amusing reactions to certain deconfirms.

Oh, a boxing glove. So that's one game of the 16 sports games out. We also have Play and Play Mation, Music, Fit of the Wii X games to consider. All the Mii Plaza games and even the Miiverse. I don't see the Villagers moveset having any impact on that.

Yeah, 544 Trophies. I really hope that we are getting a lot of trophies this time since I really love to collecting the trophies.

Having looked into this leak (and trust me, I've done a deep investigation into this), I can almost guarantee that the RosalinaX leak is false. Everything RosalinaX leaked so far was either plausible or already confirmed information and it does little more than to keep the leak alive. Even if I hadn't done a deep investigation, I would still be suspicious of the leak.

If anyone wants to hear in details as to why I feel this leak is a fake that really shouldn't be discussed here, I have an essay-worth to write. When I'll get it done is unknown, but if I am really lucky, I should have it ready by Thursday (but we'll see). I would like to make a thread about it, but I doubt it'd remain open, so I'll probably just post it here IF and only IF anyone is interested in hearing my thoughts. I am going to post it on Smashboards, GameFAQs, and the Mario Kart Wii Forums regardless, though, since I've actually heard very recent discussions of them on the former two and the last one is where the RosalinaX leak originate from.

That's why I want to see Sakurai to announced few newcomers at E3 so it could increase our chance to see a newcomer that are not on leaked list.

For 48 characters, the cuts always happened at end of the development so they said that 4 characters got cut. If it's true then I would imagine that it might be Snake and Pokemon characters since GameFreak/Pokemon Company are more likely to decide whom are in or not. Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Ivysaur and Snake.

Ironic enough, I already expected that we are getting 45 to 48 characters a long time.

I would like that. If they ran out of time to add the characters that they really want to add to Smash then they could release those cut characters for DLC bundle which would be fantastic. I seriously doubt that it would happens but it would be nice tho.

Personally I don't think Villager makes the Mii redundant in any way. I just wanted to say that the Villager is also "you" in that game so if female villager was already shown then this would have covered everyone and the Mii might have lost part of its importance when revealed. It's only a theory as to why the female villager hasn't been revealed yet (and not why she might not be in it/Miis might not be in it). I just can't think of any other reason she isn't revealed yet, although the point about Sakurai not wanting all alts to seem like gender swaps seems a good one. That begs the question though.. how many alts are we going to get anyway? We already lost one candidate in Pokemon Trainer.

It hasn't been revealed yet because Sakurai seems to be resistant to the idea of revealing all the content. Bosses got a whole section of the direct too, but iwe got a half-baked tease instead of explanations of something like the Find Mii stage.

Gotta say, these trophy updates aren't really doing anything for me. Obviously, ones disconfirming characters that had a lot of fan support behind them (like Wonder Red) is one thing, because that at least is somewhat newsworthy, but then you get random things like Big Mac, Phosphora or Brittany trophies that just leave me thinking, "Okay, and...?"

What characters would cause major meltdowns if they were revealed to be just trophies? I'd love to see a Mewtwo trophy PotD just to see one.

Pretty much any character from the Gematsu leaks (except the ultra-vague "Pokémon from X/Y" - which is technically fulfilled with Greninja, anyway). Especially Palutena, who has an incredibly large following, I've noticed. Personally, I'd probably be more annoyed if Sakurai said none of the Xenoblade cast was getting in.

I'd say Ridley, but it's pretty much all-but-confirmed that he's a boss character in Pyrosphere.
