List of Assist Trophies (so far):

Red indicates new assist trophies, blue indicates returning assist trophies from Brawl. I used lots of Brawl renders cause it is way too much work trying to crop them out of the images and they largely look the same though with a bit more color (Waluigi's case is a lot more color). Thanks to the Smash Wiki for cropped out versions of some of the characters on here.

There hasn't been any information on local multiplayer, has there? I'm kind of curious if it will be multi card or download play. If they did download play I could see them doing it similar to that new kirby fighters mini game in kirby triple deluxe, where it limits the characters you can choose if you don't have the game yourself

I think the direct gave the impression that Smash Run everyone needs their own cartridge.

Anyway, we're, at best, going to get the Namco Rep and maybe Snake at E3, and they're going to let the Invitational & demo do the rest. I think people are putting too much stock in E3 being E3 leading to some huge Smash blowout. It's like none of you remember back in 2007 when we got nothing other than a couple of seconds of footage, a release date that didn't hold and fuckin' Donkey Kong. Smash is a known quantity, and there's no reason for them to dedicate a lot of time to it, especially since it has it's own hype machine running in the form of the Daily Pics, and since we just had the Smash Direct. They'll probably use the time for games that have had less focus (Bayo2, X, Hyrule Warriors, SMTxFE) or are just being revealed (Zelda U).

I agree with the sentiment regarding alt costumes. There's a lot of Nintendo history and general nostalgia ready to be tickled and it'd certainly be nice given the series' tradition of packing the kitchen sink's kitchen sink into the game. I've supported alts since pre-Brawl too although I struggle to understand why Project M showing it's possible and could be a thing is bad now.

As for ATs, I feel that way about Lyn and Saki more.

Pac Man + 1 or 2 more newcomers
3-4 more vets

Minus Mega Man, Pacman, and maybe Sonic I expect the 35ish characters we'll know about at the end of e3 to be the starting roster with the remaining vets and newcomers hidden. If I had to guess the vets they'll show off will probably be Wario, Ice Climbers, and Meta Knight with a potential fourth going to either Ike, Ness, or Captain Falcon.

I really have no idea what newcomers we could potentially see besides Pac Man. If it were me I'd probably show off Shulk as a Xenoblade/X rep as part of the get people hyped for X this fall campaign.

Nothing so far, but I'm sure there'll be some sort of (restricted) download play. I could see them doing something like limiting you to the original 8 characters in Smash 64 and make all the shiny new ones some incentive to buy.

Or maybe they'll force you to main the random button.

yeah, i could definitely see that. although if they did that, i'd expect them to mix up the download play roster a bit. like maybe throw in mega man or another new character in. and oh man, maining random button would be... different to say the least

Snake would definitely get the same treatment Sonic got if he was in the game again.
I'm personally guessing Pac-man in the E3 Direct, maybe Mii as well, and Ridley on the show floor.
All 3 characters have been hinted at. They don't want to have characters they've hinted so strongly at be locked characters.

The fascination with them is that it's nice to have more options. When I choose a character, I like to also choose a color and costume that make the character feel like "mine".

Every other fighting game on the market already does it. There's no reason for Smash not to. For a game series that likes to throw in everything and the kitchen sink, it's bizarre that the series hasn't done proper alternate costumes yet.

I don't doubt that sakurai can make him an interesting character who is fun to play, but, unlike wii fit trainer, I already disliked him ahead of time, and think that smash bros is not the place for him. At least, not as playable. I'm still OK with a pac man stage, item, assist trophy, anything. I like RETRO pac-man, I just don't like modern, goofy, arms and legs pac-man. I think he's dumb.

I don't have to play as him, which is fine, I just hope he's low tier so I don't have to play against him all the time.

I just realized I never posted my updated roster after the disconfirmation of The Wonderful 100/Wonder-Red, so here it is:

I did away with the either/or character slots. Also, I expect between 50-55 of these characters, not necessarily all 55 shown here.

The only problem I have with Pac-Man is unlike Snake, Sonic (to a *slightly* lesser extent) and Mega Man, we already know he's happening and there'll be virtually no surprise to his reveal. The only mystery is what design they go with, and even then I'm sure he'll still be fun to play as if it's the awkward new one.
