Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

It's wednesday(well technically thursday), which mean's tonight's the night for either ice climbers or captain falcon.
or both

Welcome!

I think Ike's pretty safe. Unless I'm mistaken, Roy was slated to be in Brawl alongside Ike, but was cut due to time constraints, so there's no real precedent for removing the previous lord. They'll leave Ike and add Chrom because the more the merrier with blue-haired lords.
There's alot of evidence pointing towards mewtwo being in brawl, but when it comes to roy it isnt as much as mewtwo, iirc ther is some code on brawl's disk that nobody can make out but the only clue was that it is named roy, since it's just called roy it could be one of 2+ nintendo characters named roy, one being a mario character.

The evidence for FE Roy is that he was in the first game, Roy Koopa wouldn't (maybe?) be the only koopaling mentioned, and First thing they did on Brawl is port over Melee.

Pic of the day. The unexpected Assist Trophy, the TV-Game 15! Color TV-Game 15 is a home entertainment system that was released in 1977 in Japan before the release of Space Invaders. This is the oldest game to join the Smash Bros. series.

Sakurai you big slim FUCK

EDIT:
Don't forget the second post

Normally, controllers for these types of games had knobs with variable resistors--these allowed the players to control in-game movement by how far they twisted the knobs. The TV-Game 15 used microswitches instead. We've worked a little too hard to reenact the behavior of the original, so the paddles always move in linear paths with the same, consistent speed. We pay attention to such peculiar details!

Spacewar Deconfirmed.

I really don't get the point of the pic of the day. The original purpose was to hype the game, but he never reveals anything via the pic anymore. And when he does, it is always on Friday, so it is predictable.

I think they missed the point.

You don't understand the point, but they missed it anyways?

I think you did, unfortunately.

It was never intended to reveal things every day. In fact, that only happened for a short while between December and March.

Also, we got a reveal on Tuesday of Charizard's moveset changes, and yesterday of a trophy, so...

I really miss the Dojo...

I for one like that not too much is being revealed from the website. Mario Kart 8 has basically shown everything about it and, while super interesting, it is a bit of bummer knowing there aren't really going to be any surprises. I love that Smash is withholding some stuff.

I think what the guy who is complaining is saying is that as of now instead of getting a couple of pointless goofy pics and new stuff here and there, now we are getting media blow out and direct rehashes of things we could have figured out ourselves on top of it. I can see his point. There is no point showing stuff you can just look up on the developer direct showcased on the same site. Apologist no need apply to his complaint.

Personally, at this point with Smash Fest in a few weeks I could care less about this daily stuff cause I can get hands on with mechanics. I'm just waiting for the inevitable roster leak. A bit tired of playing this PotD game with Sakurai.

Yes! Best AT! I loved this thing appearing randomly in the montage during the Direct, and am glad to see they have such an attention to detail according to the PotD descriptions!

It's such an obscure yet significant history reference that I fell in love with this AT as soon as I saw it in the Direct!

Alright, that's who I thought; the translucent blue under her, the seemingly translucent/glowing look of the character herself, and the lack of visible yellow on her jet boots left me second guessing.

yea I also couldn't easily tell where ZSS started and the visual FX ended either. lol

According to the description, they simulate the microswitches by having the paddles keep constant speeds, not slowing down before changing direction like a knob would.

Also, what character is 2P?

they are really doing their hw with this game. Sakurai must have Nintendo's whole to browse through. also. I was kinda talking more about the hardware of the original system. it sounds pretty interesting how they used variable resistors and micro switches. thanks for the explaination though.

I'm new to Neogaf, can I please be welcome with a prayer of the safe return of the best lord ever in a Fire Emblem game, Ike.

cue that's not how you spell ____ joke

Seriously tho what's Ike's chances?
Welcome to GAF! There are plenty of great people on here; many of whom know a heck of a lot more about gaming than I do.

Really good chance of returning. I can't see Chrom replacing Ike (contrary to what people may think) and both can be made into unique characters. Plus Ike has more merits than Roy did for returning; the lord of two games, even more popular than Roy, unique (doesn't guarantee him, but it does help), and Intelligent System does like him. If Ike gets cut, it'd be due to time constraints, but I don't think that'll be the case (I'd imagine Wolf more than anything).
I don't think you can call it a pattern when there have only been 2 games with FE reps in them. Especially since Roy was pretty much only put into Melee to advertise his upcoming game in Japan (Seriously, Roy's game was released after Melee)
Not entirely true. Roy was added in the game not only to promote his game, but to promote the franchise as a while. It was Sakurai's idea.

You guys do realize there's people who didn't watch the Direct right? So things like today's pic might actually be new for them.
