Microsoft E3 2014 predictions

-3rd party/TV/Indies
-D4(2014)
-Sunset Overdrive(2014)
-Halo 2 Anniversary(2014)
-Forza Horizon 2 Announced(2014)
-Quantum Break(2015)
-Fable Legends(2015)
-Halo 5(2015)
-Mistwalker RPG Announced(2015)

That is conceivable and satisfying. I'd be happy.

I wouldnt expect Ryse to be there personally.

I do expect to see a short teaser for Undead Labs next project though

Seems a bit early no? There was an article not so long ago after they struck a multi-deal with MS that mentioned they hadn't begun production yet. I doubt that's totally true, but I can't imagine they're far enough for it to be shown at E3. I can see it happening at next year's conference though or perhaps even earlier at some other event.

I'm really hoping Platinum's game will be there, would be awesome for them to on the big stage this year, but again if rumours are to be believed then perhaps next year is more likely. I'd also imagine they'd want to ship Bayonetta 2 out of the door first before talking about it.

Phil did mention we won't have to wait for E3 to see some of their exclusive Japanese titles though, I doubt they'll show more than one at E3. The obvious one seems to be Devil's Third, assuming they struck a deal with VGS. Will be interesting to see how much it's changed since its initial reveal.

EDIT: Woops, seems like a quoted the wrong post. Fixed.

E3 is about games. Phil Spencer is the main games person at Microsoft now, and he's probably also overseeing all E3 content. They probably won't spend too much time on anything that's not games. Having said that, I doubt even the most anti-Xbox fan would be too bored by a short announcement of a live-action Halo TV series before Halo 5 is officially unveiled.

I hope MS can get the original Ratchet team together to work on a new Banjo game. That would be all kinds of awesome, I can't think of any other (non-Nintendo) team out there that could do it justice. That said, has the team worked together since "A Crack In Time"? All the Ratchet games since then have been B-team filler.

That would be a very weak 2014 line-up.

They said they won't be on their twitter, so obviously I was wrong! I asked an MS guy who works with Undead Labs when we will hear more about their next project he said soon, and that where he comes from soon means E3 (hence my assessment that it would be there) but now it seems it won't.

Oh well I'm still excited to hear more about what they're doing, they did say when they announced the new multi-title multi-year deal that we would hear more later this year though

Now that all hell has broken lose and the dust has settled a bit, what are people's revised predictions for E3 from Microsoft?

Personally, I think it'll have:

-Final 360 hardware revision and price drop to $99
-Sunset Overdrive gameplay and release date announcement
-CoD Advanced Warfare gameplay
-Fable Legends gameplay trailer with release window
-Forza Horizon 2 gameplay trailer with release window
-The Witcher 3 gameplay trailer
-Mass Effect Next gsnmeplay trailer
-Fallout 4 reveal trailer with exclusive/timed DLC announcement
-EA Sports montage with more Ultimate Team exclusive content for the Xbox platform across more games
-Quantum Break gameplay and release date
-Halo 2 Anniversary reveal gameplay trailer with release date and details from 343
-Indie section for 7-10 minutes for ID@Xbox games
-Killer Instinct Season 2 teaser
-Phantom Dust reboot gameplay trailer
-something not Kinect based from Rare (I want Banjo but I don't see it happening)
-Eden falls trailer
-Fortaleza makes an appearance (kind of hesitant here, but Microsoft needs their AR/VR solution to be announced)
-Halo 5 teaser
-new IP to close the show

Now that all hell has broken lose and the dust has settled a bit, what are people's revised predictions for E3 from Microsoft?

We already had SO, paywall and price drop; what else do you guys think we are going to see before E3?
I think Microsoft should do a run-up to E3 and let out information/game play videos for games we already know about such as Fable Legends, The Witcher 3, and Quantum Break. Save E3 for announcement of new games and Xbox Live features. I know this won’t happen but it would be awesome if it did.

My revised expectations:

Xbox 360
  • New "F2P" game such as LoL or Heartstone
  • Update to UI, closer to the Xbox One UI
  • Price drop to $149
  • State of Decay 2

Xbox One
  • D4 gameplay and a few new time-exclusive indies (3-5), plus announcement of all Xbox Ones are dev kit release date
  • Eden Falls reveal and gameplay (from LiftLondon?)
  • Fable Legends gameplay
  • Fallout 4 reveal with exclusive DLC
  • Fortaleza concept trailer, probably new LXP team IP reveal
  • Forza Horizon 2 gameplay
  • Killer Instinct Season 2 reveal with Cinder, Riptor, and TJ Combo
  • Halo 2 Anniversary gameplay
  • Halo 5 CG teaser
  • LiftLondon cloud-based games 2, 3, and 4 sizzle reel (plays across Windows devices)
  • Lionhead team 2 new IP CG teaser
  • Phantom Dust CG teaser
  • Platinum exclusive CG teaser
  • State of Decay 2 (I think it will be cross-platform)
  • Sunset Overdrive multiplayer reveal
  • Quantum Break gameplay
  • One last thing

I don't think Crackdown, Ryse 2, Gears, or a new Rare game will be there.

Besada answered me about the closing of the other E3 topic.

Because it was being used to discuss the same stuff going on in the $399 thread. The plan was to organize some sort of actual e3 thread, rather than using the date/time announcement threads as such, so we closed the Sony and MS threads (and I completely forgot about the Nintendo thread), just before ModBot went insane and destroyed our ability to communicate with one another.

So now, we are stranded alone, each an island with the power to reshape the board, and no way to gather consensus on doing so.

Or: We goofed up and we'll fix the mistake when we get our shit together.

So... yea that is it.

-Sunset Overdrive demo/release date
-CoD Advanced Warfare demo
-Fable Legends demo/release date
-Forza Horizon 2 demo/release date
-The Witcher 3 demo
-The Division demo
-Probably another demo, maybe Dragon Age Inquisition or something else, Homefront 2?
-Tomb Raider 2 trailer/2015
-Quantum Break demo/release date
-Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer demo/release date
-ID@Xbox games trailers, an ID game being part of GwG XB1
-Banjo or Viva Piñata announcement, made by Rare
-Twisted Pixel next game teaser/2015
-Halo 5 teaser/release date
-LXP and/or Platform Next studio announcement and trailer for game
-A third party exclusive (timed or full, whatever)
-A few Japanese games (not Phantom Dust, too early for that)
-Reboots of other older IPs, mostly downloadable games
-New IPs, probably 1 or 2 big retail titles but not due until 2015 and 2016

There won't be any AR/VR at this E3, it doesn't make sense to do it now when MS have other stuff to sort out.

  • A smidgeon of TV/media focus; includes Halo TV teaser
  • Quantum Break live gameplay demonstration; Q2 2015 release
  • Gears of War: Maria, Maria teaser
  • Halo 2 Anniversary official announcement; comes with Halo V preview
  • ID@XBox Section (much like Boyes' portion of E3 2013)
  • Nothing regarding Titanfall
  • Sunset Overdrive live gameplay demonstration; Ted Price; 'cloud' smells so good
  • Another MGS5: Phantom Pain trailer
  • Rare game w/ Kinect functionality (it's not dead)
  • Phil Spencer has complete wardrobe changes (w/ Lady Gaga's supervision)
  • Mass Effect IV teaser
