AMAZING! I was worried after they didn't mention anything in the Direct Villager would have no alts, but these look great! Though...I'm still probably using the standard one.

Pikmin alts would be different characters. These are all Villager.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dr. Mario alt as a nod to Melee more than anything? Villager alt is awesome news, I hope this comes with different voice FX which I assume it does :-3.

Villagers don't have personality to separate the male and female, they're all villagers.

hopefully both, it would be weird if you couldn't use female villager if you were on blue team, for example.
I imagine it's six male and six female villagers. Males probably numbered 1 through 6 with the Number shirts?
Not sure if I'd call them all "alts," really, though. Other than the hair they're pretty much just retextures... probably won't get separate renders on the character select beyond the male/female split.

Great update. I knew it was coming but 3 more instead of just 1?! Yeah boy! The possibilities for other characters to get more than one alternate is fair game! Wii Fit Trainer and Villager make perfect sense as completely different character skins. They are basically avatars from their own games so it was always expected we could get their official opposite sex counterparts. Little Mac gave us real hope however with the wire frames and now I'm expecting many characters to get at least 2 completely different looks! So exciting!
My most wanted costumes are: Strikers Donkey kong, Dry Bowser, Cat Bowser and Black/White Yoshi(just a pallet swap so make it happen Sakurai!).
