You truly are my favorite user on this website
</3
Due to how things works, they'll leave things as is. AKA:
-things programmed to use higher clock speed will use it
-things not programmed to use it will stay at their default speed.
It's been awhile but iirc didn't the homebrew to play non-psn PSP games (and other homebrew PSP stuff) on the Vita allow you to modify your clockspeed prior to playing the game similar to how you can on cfw PSPs? It's unfortunate that you can't do it normally for games that aren't programmed to use the higher clock speed.

I've been playing some Guacamelee on Vita, and I just beat the Tree Tops section. That's definitely one of the hardest things I've ever done in a game.

I just...I don't get this. Play more games. Even if you're only talking about the extra section for the orb it isn't that hard. Seriously, play more games. Nothing in Guacamelee is worthy of being called "one of the hardest things I've ever done in a game". Nothing.

NPD results always break my heart :(
The hardware numbers are really abysmal, at least the Conception split shows that the Vita users are buying something.

Hello VitaGAF.

Been a long time lurker here, but just wanted to pop in to say hi since my account was just activated and everyone seems so friendly here.

I'm sporting both an OLED Vita as well as a Light Blue 2000.

I keep the 2000 inside one of those Nintendo Animal Crossing Pouches just because the pouch looks so soft. Blasphemous huh? :)

Looks like we were both part of the same batch. :D

To keep my post relevant to the thread, whats the consensus of the vita port of Phantasy Star Online 2? I played the PC version quite heavily and am wondering if it's worth the import and the gargantuan memory card required.

Welcome to VitaGAF you two.

Did you ever play split/second on PSP? Wondering whether to buy it.

No, I didn't like the artstyle of the PS3 version and the overall idea that you can destroy things on the race track, seemed silly to me. Never tried the PSP version because of that.

Heart Forth Alicia they where asking 165k on kickstarter for a Vita release , they got 232k. So yay!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alonsomartin/heart-forth-alicia

Just 13k shy of the 3DS stretch goal :D

From a guy called "I Wanna Be The Guy" :P Honestly difficulty is relative. The Tiger boss fight was a real bitch on Guaca.

I just finished it on hard on Vita yesterday and got the platinum trophy. That fight wasn't easy but I do believe I beat him in less then 10 tries so it wasn't that bad.

thinking of getting Soul Sacrifice Delta :/
but do I really want to spend another $36 :/

It sounds like it is worth every penny

The ONLY reason i haven't bought it is because my friends dont want to spend the money and I dont really enjoy playing these games solo

The positive side is many of my buddies grabbed the original for free on plus se we are playing that lol

I would much rather be playing delta though.

My personal list when it comes to hunting games:

Monster Hunter:
ABSOLUTELY needs friends. Too many elitists online and shit. "WHY DID YOU FUCKING BRING A HUNTING HORN".
Soul Sacrifice:
Something in the system doesn't click with me, might buy if friends do.
God Eater:
Will buy even if I don't play on playing it soon (lol I bought GE2 at launch and still haven't played it; got 50 hours on the demo though).
Ragnarok Odyssey:
Never again.
Toukiden:
Seems like this is second contender after GE now.
Freedom Wars:
Not really sure, but this is more ambitious than your average hunting game. As for getting it: Maybe... We'll see if they actually release a goddamn demo.

I generally don't want to play two hunting games in a short span of time (a year).

My personal list when it comes to hunting games:

Here is mine:

Monster Hunter:
I didn't like it at all when I played it a few years ago. It didn't feel responsive to me (probably my fault) and I didn't really like the many (unexplained) subsystems. Tried a friends' copy of Freedom Unite
Soul Sacrifice:
The game is quite good, but as you play it becomes harder to play with a non-ranged build. Amazing monster design, good and emotional story. It's my second favorite hunting action IP to date.
God Eater:
Liked Burst, but there was some stuff I didn't really feel. Bad animations and shit aiming. I never learned how to craft bullets :l
Ragnarok Odyssey:
Never played it
Toukiden:
Favorite hunting action IP to date. Really good art style, interesting story I'd like to see expanded (not as good as SS though), liked the Mitama system and the general mechanics. Has made me want to give a try to MH again.
Freedom Wars:
Hype is above 9000. I have high hopes for this game and the stuff I've seen so far is quite promising. It looks like it has improved what I don't like in God Eater, setting is interesting and it has quite some neat features we haven't seen in the genre yet. PvP, more mission variety and all that.

Yeah, I stopped paying attention to this guys "it's not hard" banter when he started mentioning scores in the TxK thread. :'(

:p

It's not that hard though. :p

People always us this comeback on me when I say something like that, but at the end of the day I've never claimed iwbtg isn't hard. I'd never call someone out for calling iwbtg hard, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I'll admit Guacamelee is hard. It's actually one of the easiest vita games I own.

My List

Monster Hunter
Still the king in my eyes. Love how it has been consistently iterated on over the last ten year to be the most addictive and satisfying hunting game i have ever played. Can enjoy solo and with friends though I ALWAYS prefer co-op

Ragnarok Odyssey
Absolutely needs friends and got Boring REALLY fast. It is just to limited mechanically along with several other issues. Have not played the expansion.

Toukiden
This is about as close to Monster Hunter as you can get. Love how its a mash up of other hunting games though. It is JUST shy of being a deep game but I love the combat. Fantastic game

Soul Sacrifice
I really consider this a different beast in the genre. Plays very differently and is a lot of fun solo and with friends. Probably my favorite new game in the genre and it has potential to be so much more amazing. I guess SSD capitalizes on this potential in many ways and I cannot wait to play it.

God Eater
Could not get into Burst. Not sure what the deal was. I think I really need to play this with some friends soon and try to wrap my head around it. Didn't grab me like the other games on this list.

Freedom Wars
Probably the most exciting new game in the Genre. After watching various gameplay vids the 4 and 8 player dynamics look like they are truly going to offer something fresh and exciting. Super pumped for this!

I miss TxK. Haven't played it in ages. I haven't played it since I posted my last high score in the TxK thread. The 2 hour long session I had scared me away from the game. I really don't want to be forced in to a 2 hour session every time I want to play. It really hurts the replay factor. Once you get good at that game the length of sessions are ridiculous. Amazing game though. I wish there was some kind of quick score attack mode. Like a daily challenge where you attempt a random set of 10 levels and go for as high a score as you can.

I can't get hyped for Freedom Wars until I play GE2. There were some big, even fundamental problems with GE:B that although can be excused for the first time, they absolutely cannot for another one.

I liked the game but I felt like at times they didn't understand what makes MonHun the King. Freedom Wars promises way too many things from a team that partially failed to deliver a lot less.

Soul Sacrifice is pretty damn great on its own way, though. It goes way, way further than the rest, tries many different and interesting things but in the end it lacked polish to make it to the next level. SSD is exactly what it needed and I really hope they delivered on that. Can't wait to try it.

I am waiting for Toukiden G, which is the reason I haven't got it yet, but I have no excuse for RO:A. I need to fix this.

I'm really thinking about getting SS:D right now, but it depends on one thing - is this game very multiplayer dependent?
In MH3U I came to a point when playing solo got boring as shit, but none of my 3DS friends is interested in getting it. SS:D has online play but the problem here is I'm afraid that in a month or two the online will be either empty or full of elite characters doing quests way above my level. Is that how it works here?
I guess I'll finish P4G either today or tomorrow so that would be a good time to jump into SS:D.

SSD did a great job in balancing the offerings. The throwing daggers that people liked to spam are now much slower, and melee weapons are actually useful now. I never thought I'd use swords and spears in SS, but they've become staples in my repertoire.

As far as my hunting game rankings go, SS > GE > Toukiden > MH >>> RO.

SSD has very competent AI partners, which a huge improvement from the previous game. You don't need to go online, but GAF parties won't discriminate against lower-leveled players. :)

Haha, that's good to hear. :-) I've got a 2 hour bus trip ahead of me, so I guess I'll try playing the original. If it clicks you'll get +1 SSDGAF member over the weekend. :-)

So VitaGAF, how bad is PAL PS1 SotN for someone who has played (and loved) the US version but will under no circumstances be able to play the US version on his Vita? On sale at the moment.

Game plays amazingly well solo. Tons of different AI partners for you to collect and use their help. I don't know what really late game is like, but until then I would go as far as to say that Solo is just as good as multiplayer.

When it comes to hunting games..

Nothing beats playing a touch fight with 4 friends in Party Chat

Hence why I LOVE playing them on Vita

It has EVERYTHING you need for an awesome hunting game co-op experience built INTO the system itself

Its a shame Capcom gave them the shaft with Monster Hunter. I feel like it could push double the numbers that all the clones(I am not trying to downplay them as Clones sorry!) are putting out and they are clearly profitable both at home and overseas cuz they keep bringing them over.

A cheap MH port to Vita seems like easy money. Even if its a cheap upscaling and update of the old games Portable 3rd/Unite.

Seems like money left on the table. Hell they put Unite on IOS with online play and improved graphics. I just dont understand why 80-100k units (what competitors are hitting) isn't enough of an incentive. Hell they would like sell way more than that on the platform

After trying to finish the game on Pure in one sitting, I gave up after an hour or so. It's just not something that's gonna happen with my schedule, regardless of whether I even have the skill level. I mean, I guess I could just let the Vita sit in sleep mode until I get home every night, but hopping back in after a long break usually means I'm gonna fuck up and die. I've gone back to just playing 10 or 12 levels a night in an attempt to have a less pathetic score on Classic, because I really can't keep myself away from the game.

I-I think I can wait that long ;_;
maybe
Just think of your backlog, think of money wasted on games not played and you might make it. After Senran, I can finally stop buying. I only want to buy and support the riskier games on the system so that almost everything Japan offers can now be considered "localizable(?)". I had enough dreaming about getting a game outside Japan then cry since it was either localized only for Chinese / Korean (Vita Legend of Heroes) or has no luck on getting out of Japan at all (S Robot game, Visual novels ).Tales and possibly Phantasy Star Nova (LOL) will accompany Persona Dancing and PDF2nd next year as January purchases. I hate seeing purchases not used / in the backlog since that means I'm just wasting money I could have thrown at other things.

Well, I got the original SS for that price last January. Can't hurt to wait if you have tons of other games to play.

I'm currently in the Philippines on vacation any GAF Kuyas know if there are 64gb vita mem cards for sale here? Ive been to a few stores but have only seen the 32gb cards. Also are there places that sell vita games for cheap? Im in the Quezon city area.

So yeah, picked up ssd last night to get a quest or two in... 3 hours later, countless quests, and a small novel of lore digested, I fell asleep. Needless to say, F*cking game is brilliant. They did everything right this time around, proper re release

Greetings! Welcome to the country. Enjoy your stay on our sweltering hot country hahaha. Datablitz and iTech (also known as Game One Gadgets) sells the 64gb cards in their stores. I am currently living near a mall (SM North EDSA) so I help you there.

I don't want to make this post look like an ad so if you want help, just send me a PM.

I broke down and bought Soul Sacrifice Delta, and it is currently downloading at a snail's pace on my work internet. Maybe by the time I'm off work tonight it will be finished. Borderlands 2 is next on my list, but that can wait. I only put a few hours into the original SS, but the improvements and new factions have me interested in this one. Looking forward to it.

If you want these games to keep coming to the Vita, buy them at full price. I know to some it's financially unsound to do so, but paying for any sort of entertainment can be considered that, too.

If you want more games to come to the Vita, waiting for their prices to hit rock-bottom isn't exactly going to encourage publishers to keep supporting the device.

Has Disgaea 1&2 ever gone on sale on psn? I mean i know one and two are worth their price but a sale price wouldnt hurt

Disgaea 1 has gone down to $9.99 before from it's normal price (though I think that was back when it was $19.99. I have never seen Disgaea 2 for anything less than 19.99.

*anecdotal evidence incoming* I have not seen a 1000 new in the wild in two months (memphis/southhaven, ms, typically at Target and walmart for electronics) Last week I saw my first Vita 2000 on saturday, by last night no vita's in stock.

Theory: I'm thinking Sony burned down a lot of stock of the 1000 over the past few months and where deliberately not restocking 1000s. Due to that, stores have not ordered much of the 2000, but what they have ordered is selling.

Prediction May NPD: expecting more than 3.3k but still very frustrating numbers.
