JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders |OT| ATTEMPT NO MANGA SPOILERS HERE

Music, sound effects, voice acting, direction, etc. are all reasons why I vastly prefer the experience of watching anime to reading manga. I guess I could try to seek out the volumes of part 1 and part 2 to compare, but I'm going to stick with waiting for the episodes for the rest.

Same...manga doesn't do it for me as much as anime.

Forever doing the rubix cube to prove his intelligence is still the strangest part for me.

Jojo is just so wonderfully quirky.

Araki just wanted an excuse to draw a rubix cube, as well as drawing an orangatun that can solve a rubix cube to show off how smart it is.

With how faithful the adaptation is and with the production value are quite high, I'm not sure what else to pursue to recommending just reading the manga other than if you want to blitz through the content.

The manga has Araki's glorious art and the exaggerated sound effects and poses look superb in it.
Anime is still good though.

I don't feel like anyone really needs to read the manga for the current and previous parts. It's a great adaptation and Season 2 has been super faithful so far. It's worth reading for a comparison and because it's still damn good but I don't think it's a straight up better version of the current parts.

Goddamnit Araki, why was the shower scene necessary? Really not looking forward watching this episode with the girlfriend...

Overall, it was a pretty good episode, there were some hilarious bits with the orangutan.

I'm not talking about the shower scene specifically, just the whole, y'know, prepubescent girl shown naked with gratuitous shots of her bum etc

i don't remember exactly, it's been a long time since I've read stardust crusaders, but i don't think the manga was quite as focused on her butt haha. i just remember seeing it maybe when the orangutan pulled back the curtain.

Guess I should blame David production instead of Araki for pandering to perverse dweebs if so.

They're malnourished brain-addled man children, it's not their fault.

Stuff like that doesn't sit well with me, for obvious reasons.

If you just calmly explain to her that Jotaro had earlier grabbed her chest and discovered breasts - so she's clearly not prepubescent - she'll totally understand and not think you're creepy for liking this show. Oh yeah also remind her that they're over international waters.

Most of the shots are exactly the same, NSFW I suppose. I don't think it's meant to be fanservice, it's meant to be creepy. Why would you do fanservice only in the creepy/horror fight?

There was a bit also in the Jotaro vs. Kakyoin fight with the nurse but, again, I suppose it was somewhat subverted by the context of the situation, kind of like this time. As long as it doesn't become commonplace, which apparently it doesn't, I can ignore it.

Still a weird and hilarious case of censorship when one juxtaposes that scene with Jotaro's smoking.

Well I'm not gonna defending those Ramen Warriors lol

For better (bwahahahahey) or worse those butts shot will make the runaway girl more memorable though

That was the only shot that was the same. I have volume 2 and that was the only butt shot in that chapter. They definitely went overboard in the anime lol

I haven't gotten that far with reading Stardust Crusaders (I've only just finished reading Battle Tendency last night), but I'm enjoying what I've read, especially with getting a laugh with how Joseph Joestar is now a kick-ass wrinkly old prune, who is dealing with a kid that had the same attitude he had at his age. The only thing I find to be a bummer is Jotaro's attitude. Seriously, when does this kid begin to lighten up?

Someone explain to me what the fuck the button was all about

Since the button isn't directly part of the ship it isn't part of the monkey's Stand. It pissed him off and distracted him enough so that Jotaro can catch him off-guard.
Jotaro explains it pretty well.

But I mean none of them are part of his stand, nor are any of their clothing

or that apple he was eating

or that playboy

like idk

If anything it was mostly Jotaro taunting Forever (the orangatun) and belittling him that allowed him to take him down. If anything the button was part of Jotaro's plan to strike him with a projectile in case his Star Finger wouldn't be enough to kill him/defeat him.

You know, if you post spolier-tagged words without explaining what the spoilers relate to no-one will know what you're spoilering unless they spoil themselves.

Someone explain to me what the fuck the button was all about

The ape thought he had won because he controls everything on the ship (they are created by his stand power, the apple and the playboy as most likely) Jotaro proves him wrong by using his suit's button (not created by Strength so not controlled by it) to goad him into fucking up.

The orangutan was affecting humanity by dressing up, smoking, and reading porno mags. Part of this egotism stemmed from the nature of its Stand, and how powerful it was. With the button, Jotaro introduces something outside of the ape's control, sending it into a rage because its still an animal, and will react accordingly to having stuff thrown at it. In this way, Jotaro is saying that the orangutan will never be fully human, or fully animal (because it broke the "rules"), and thus deserves neither respect as an human antagonist nor pity as a animal in surrender.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - Stardust Crusaders 7

Yeah this was one of the weaker episodes of the series so far and the runaway girl "fanservice" was more awkward than it needed to be :/
The orangutan (how did Dio even get an orangutan on his side?)
wasn't the most interesting adversary and "Strength" is a lame name for a Stand but the Stand itself was pretty interesting and a nice subversion of Stands we've see so far - I can tell they'll only get crazier from here. All that being said, a Stand
that anybody can see
? Why this Stand and not others? Its not like it was strictly better or super powered compared to other Stands so far. Seems hard to justify here but not elsewhere - was it just because it was so large? I also felt the non-Jotaro members of Team Stardust were kind of holding the idiot ball this week :(

All that being said, I'm still loving this show in spite of its flaws :)

When does the OST for this come out?

I must say that the show grew on me - and I think I even prefer it to season 1 + 2 now. There is just something about those stands.. not sure what it is, but they appeal a lot more to me now

Also, it helps that the animation and soundtrack are sooo good! You feel every punch and every tiny encounter feels special

So yeah, I'm on the JoJo 3 hypetrain as well now :)

The stands are still pretty basic right now too. Strength is the first to really hint at the variety of stands in the future.

I pretty much feel the opposite right now. Part 3 feels the most shounen monster-of-the-week of any of the parts so far, and can't reach the heights of part 2 so far.

You should probably get used to fighting a different stand every week because that's essentially what everything from Stardust Crusaders onward is.

At least they had overarching plot though, its like western TV show.. completely episodic at times but there's some thread to follow, but SC don't have that. I completely understand if people not buy that.

Just started watching, finished episode 4 of the first series (or season). I love how the show is so over the top, but in a self-aware sort of way.

But aside from the main villain chapters the overarching plot is pretty much the same in each part. The enemies have been sent by DIO to kill them. The enemies have been sent by (manga spoilers)
Akira and Kira's Dad/The Assassins and Diavolo/Pucci/Valentine
to kill them. The only difference is that Stardust Crusaders story is a simple globetrotting adventure. That's what I like about it too. The overarching plot is to reach Dio and break the curse, while he and Enya send stand users after them. There's some other plot stuff such as Polnareff tracking down his sister's killer but it's a simple and enjoyable story.

Yeah, that's what I love about SC too, just saying though.

SC absolutely has an overarching plot. It's just super linear.

Of course, the only part that isn't linear at all is 4, which has its own charm.

The other Stands are not as complex as a large completely functioning and manipulable boat, so they're not as "great" I guess, so they can't be seen.
