Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

The Ridley gifs are a daily reminder that the character itself is most overblown thing by the Smash community and will remain that way with the attention he gets.
|OT| It's been a year.
I like this one lol. So simple, but it is just kinda crazy to think about it that way.

Ridley's Bizzare Adventure |OT| Sometimes We Talk About Smash Bros

Oh god I'm sorry for talking about titles already, please don't kill me

I started talking about the new thread's title when this thread started.

It was 'Ridley's living the Tomodachi Life'. Awful, I know.

'Sakurai's not dead' could be a decent depressing one.

Sakurai: "Ridley will never be playable as long as I am the director of this series."
fans: "He's trolling us, he'll be playable in the next one!"

:P

But don't be fooled, guys. The Wii U version's been cancelled, as Nintendo is burning all of the existing unsold Wii Us and ceasing development of all games for it. It must be true; the leaked Nintendo Digital Event says so!
Seems legit.

Hmm I wonder if helmet less mega man will be an alt? Like how he looked in his smash trailer.
I'm banking on him taking off his helmet being a smash taunt-style easter egg rather than an alternate costume. If it was an alternate costume it would be too difficult to differentiate between players - a blue Mega Man with his helmet would look very similar to a blue Mega Man without his helmet.

Alternately maybe they'll go all the way and use his casual clothes from Mega Man 1 and Powered Up as an alternate costume.

Hopefully it does make it into the game. Worst case scenario is that it's just a trophy. Best case is an alt or a taunt.

Unfortunately, this is the only footage we have of the 'start' of a match: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iktxi6tPBPw#t=276 and it's likely not at all final. Warping in and putting on his helmet would we a good intro for megaman, but we don't see intros, unfortunately.

I still like my old one:

|OT8| Where everyday is Veteran's Day

But I think I need some new ones to keep things lively. Feels weird knowing that we're an actual 3 weeks away now.

Doesn't really apply anymore anyway, since we stopped getting veteran reveals with game releases for the most part.

I like that a lot.

Personally I'm a fan of taking the Picture of the Day quotes and turning them into thread titles.

Putting an E3 spin on them would be fitting.

My favorite picture of the day quotes since the direct:

  • Don't eat him. You can't eat him!
  • Members of the Enemies That Love to Hide Association, here are Octorok and Met. Calmly grab them while they're ducking.
  • Just the target screen felt lacking so here's a pic of the Dragoon itself. I wanna get on it. I wanna get on and ride it.

I can't help but want to inject a hype train reference in that last one.

"Get on the hype train. Get on it and ride it."

Like fish in a barrel.

Although I'm particularly fond of these three:

What about Palutena tho

People have pretty much convinced themselves she's a given.

Ultimate TWEEST ending: Ridley is a stage hazard that when beaten jumps in as a newcomer, but Palutena is an assist trophy or worse.

I couldn't even imagine the internet backlash for something like this.

I’m bored, so I have some newcomer trivia/factoids. Most of this is probably obvious, but I’m trying to hype myself up as much as possible until E3.

  • Only 2 of the 6 confirmed newcomers use the same name in both English and Japanese (Wii Fit Trainer and Little Mac).
  • Even though Sakurai ruled the Villager out in Brawl for being too peaceful, he joked in a 2008 issue of Famitsu that a potential Animal Crossing character could fight with a shovel and a net. Villager, of course, uses both of those tools this time around.
  • Though seemingly random at first, Villager’s boxing jabs have two possible sources of inspiration: Punch-Out!! was included as a playable NES game in the original Animal Crossing, and a boxing theme furniture set appears in both Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: Wild World.
  • Similarly, Villager’s Balloon Trip special move has a couple of direct links to Animal Crossing. Balloon Fight is also playable in the original Animal Crossing, and balloons feature heavily in the Animal Crossing series: they appear as handheld items, attached to presents, and as a furniture set.
  • The Wii Fit series emblem is the “dance” pose taken from the Wii Fit box art. The same image has been used more recently as Wii Fit U’s game icon.
  • Wii Fit Trainer’s Final Smash is inspired by the multicolored yoga cutouts used in Wii Fit Plus’ promotional art.
  • Even though most of Wii Fit Trainer’s move set is pulled directly from the poses she herself uses in Wii Fit, her Side Special Move and Up Special Move are actually used by Miis.
  • Rosalina’s Luma gameplay mechanic seems heavily inspired by Super Mario Galaxy 2’s Co-Star Mode, where P2 can control a Luma and attack enemies from a distance.
  • The Punch-Out!! series emblem is taken from the title and victory screens of Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!
  • Little Mac is the first Smash Bros. character created by Genyo Takeda’s R&D3 team. The other first-party characters have their roots in the more famous EAD and R&D1 studios.
  • The K.O. icon on Little Mac’s Power Meter is taken from the arcade games, and the multicolored notches are taken from the SNES game.
  • Little Mac and Charizard are the only playable characters to have appeared as Assist Trophy/Poké Ball summons in a previous installment.
  • Greninja is the second most recently-created newcomer in Smash Bros. history after Roy (whose game didn’t release until after Melee).
  • Perhaps as an homage to the attack’s original properties in Pokémon X/Y, Greninja’s fully charged Water Shuriken hits multiple times.
