I just watched the third terrible film last night. I totally forgot that Magneto was depowered at the end. This makes the end scene of The Wolverine make no sense.
Does anyone know if this is addressed?

Who has the ability to control people and freeze time as shown in the previous movies? Charles Xavier does. Magneto raises his hand to protect himself, not to stop bone claw Wolverine from attacking him.

It's a good fake out for people that are paying attention.

The ending shows him getting his powers back, meaning the cure only temporarily removes powers.

No, he raises his arm to block adamantium skeleton Wolverine from moving.

Everything in that movie was designed to have an easy retcon-

- Magneto's powers started returning in the last scene. Mystique's and Rogue's could as well.
- Xavier mind-jumped into the body of his brain-dead twin in the mid-credits scene.
- Cyclops was killed off screen. We only have crazy Jean's word (unreliable narrator) and some levitating eyewear to say he actually died.
- Jean is the Phoenix. She already came back from the dead once.

Another review was added to Rottentomatoes:
With director Bryan Singer comfortably back in the saddle, there's a wondrous sense of scale about this ambitious Marvel adventure as the element of time travel to the 70's offers a springboard for unbridled creativity and imagination.

Also features this line:
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a real scene stealer as the silver-haired Quicksilver
lol I wonder how much confusion Quicksilver being in both Avengers and X-Men will cause.

Before Wolverine attacks Magneto, he notices a bunch of metal stuff on the metal detector moving by itself. That's how he knows Magneto is somewhere nearby.
Also, Magneto does stop Wolverine; even though his claws are bones now, his whole skeleton is still made from adamentium.

Before Rougue's scenes were cut off from the DOFP, you can see in the trailers that she was in some kind of mutant concentration camp / prison. Meaning her powers probably did return.

The trolling giveaway in that quote is saying Aaron Taylor Johnson is a scene stealer. That dude gives the pacific rim guy a run for his money for basic boring performances

I have my ticket for the premiere this Thursday at a local cinema.

Bring it on!

I'm going thursday morning in Australia, can't wait :-)

Bit worried as i care more for the older cast rather than the first class cast. Guess i need to embrace the future of the franchise.

He was pretty bad in Godzilla .... but the strangest part was that he was married to Scarlet Witch =P

So I just got out of an advance media screening of this movie and it was good. It really was quite good.

Yeah, time travel plots have problems, but this one is at least internally consistent and allows for some great 1970s carry on and some comical liberties taken with US history. The cast all put in solid performances, the story itself is a cut above the average superhero-movie standard and not aimed at kids. There were many good laughs and mutant abilities put to creative use. One particular time-bending scene is a real joy to watch, and there's a new girl who has a power lifted straight out of a game: Now you're thinking with portals.

Highly recommend. Will watch again.

Saw it in 3D. Predictably there is a post credits scene.

Wait, film still stars Shawn Ashmore as Iceman, right? OP lists his twin Aaron. Lol.
Goddamn it. It's probably cause I watched the entire run of Smallville over the last year to truly grasp how loathesome it was. And now the OT has an ugly 'Edited' footnote.

I hate Smallville! I HATE YOU!

Speaking of which, when I watched X2 recently I got big smallville vibes from it.

Are there any reviews out for the 3D version of the film?

Brazilian critic says it is very good since it is true 3d, but it don't add anything that would enhance the experience much.

Don't have the huge tunnels of RE5 or the meta parts of Mickey's short before Frozen

Gonna catch this on Wednesday. Hope I enjoy it more than Godzilla. Not sure if I can handle two disappointments within a week. .....Who am I kidding, of course I can. :P

Just saw it, thought it was pretty good. The ending
was a bit too happy for my tastes but it's a good reboot.
Music was indeed good as well.

Is there a separate thread for impressions? Can't see anyone posting any here

I'm going to miss the

Yah. Jackman's score is all around solid.

Like I said, from what I can tell (soundtrack spoilers, not plot)
he does reprise the Magneto theme from First class at least once on the soundtrack... but he kind of changes the note progression a bit to differentiate it from that X2 Wolverine theme. It sounds virtually the same, and the instrumentation is identical, but he's altered it a bit. Other than that, I don't think he's incorporated anything else from the other films. Although, I suppose it's possible a cue or two from First Class appears in the film but not on the soundtrack. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, actually. Someone on Superherohype indirectly alluded that Ottman reprises material from throughout the old films...so who knows.

Latest reviews. The last one is kind of confusing.

With director Bryan Singer comfortably back in the saddle, there's a wondrous sense of scale about this ambitious Marvel adventure as the element of time travel to the 70's offers a springboard for unbridled creativity and imagination.

With its time-twisting plot, sci-fi soapiness, powerful humanism, and to-die-for cast, this is the summer blockbuster done with elegance and heart.

Dancing between the fun and the all-out ridiculous with surprisingly nimble feet, X-Men: Days of Future Past is an absolute blast.

A bold, dark and important chapter in a superhero franchise that continues to evoke the past atrocities of man, in order to portray a fantastic fable of hope amidst hopeless times.

It's all such rollicking fun it's hard to care about the occasional baffling moment.

It's a character-driven comics movie that mostly forgets about the characters as characters.

I really hope this isn't Wolverine front and centre again. My favourite thing about First Class was the relationship between Charles and Erik. Besides that, looking forward to it.

LOL come on man you know it might be.

It's not like they're ignoring charles and erik, it seems by the trailers it'll still have some focus on them.

The best thing going right now is knowing that there will NOT be any focus on Rogue/Bobby.

huge relief

New review added to RT:
The film is unfailing in its attention to detail, brutally unforgiving in its fan-service, and riddled with genuine moments of exultant joy. The X-Men saga has been bumpy, but Days of Future Past manages the near-impossible feat of not just cleaning up the mess Ratner (and the first Wolverine spinoff) made, but also establishing itself as one of the finest, most enjoyable superhero films in recent memory.
