I've been going through the X-Men films (and the first animated series!) in anticipation for this - goddamn I forgot how great X2 is. The first movie is fun but the second is still up there as one of my favorite comic book films. Now on to X3, which I've never seen...

On topic for this, I'm kind of surprised how positive reactions are for this so far. Pleasantly surprised, of course, I can't wait to get another great X-Men film.

New review was added:
Bold and ambitious, X-Men: Days Of Future Past is an admirably controlled thrill-ride tempered with perfectly shaded moments of arcing darkness.
Movie is up to 94% on rottentomatoes.

I'm pissed I'm going to be working Thursday night, throughout all the showtimes we have for this film. Going to have to see this on...

Friday.

1 more day.

Will be seeing it in 17 hours 8 minutes time, can't wait

And after yesterday i did decide to do the X-Men movie marathon well it's a half hearted attempt. I finished the first movie, 1/2 way though X2... will power through the remaining hour of the film and then watch X3 after it tonight.

25 hours for me.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but have any reviews mentioned a mid/post credits scene?

Watching tomorrow morning and I don't want to miss it.

Another positive review. I've let google translate it.

And it is for this reason that to see how Days of Future Forgotten lives up to its predecessors was a relief. Incidentally, not only honor those works, but also brings some of the best moments of the entire franchise.

Excited and cautious. Cautiously excited. I don't trust Kinberg writing an X-flick, but I absolutely trust Singer directing one.

The series didn't deserve to go down the toilet like it did.

I was thinking this last night. I wonder why Singer decided to direct Superman Returns instead of X-Men 3 - in my opinion Superman is a really boring character while there's a lot more potential in the X-Men cast (potential he realised very well in the second film). I would assume from Returns that he reveres Richard Donner, but it's a shame he left the X-Men series and it very quickly went down the toilet.

Thanks.

Good news that it's good. I assume that means it's a potential set up for Age of Apocalypse?

Ugh, they're not calling it Age of Apocalypse, are they?!

Singer decided to direct Superman instead of X3 because he had been waiting on Tom Rothman and Fox to sign off on his X3 deal for more than a year. When WB finally came knocking with the opportunity to direct the sequel to one of his most-loved films ever, it was a no-brainer for Singer.

But make no mistake, Singer wanted to direct X3. He was ready to direct X3. Fox's top brass at the time were just made up of fucking idiots. I mean, this was only a couple years after Fox turned down a Cameron/Scott co-production of Alien 5 so they could make AvP.

This might be a bit too celeb gossipy for this thread (and to be honest, I don't care too much myself), but I was at a mixer last night that had a few people that worked on this film and First class in attendance.

One of them told me it was an "open secret" in Hollywood that Matthew Vaughn knocked up January Jones, and Fox went to great lengths to cover that shit up. I had no idea. Am I just missing something? Is this actually a thing?

Also, apparently Matthew Vaughn went nuts on set once and called Jennifer Lawrence fat. She hated him. Bonus points: She also doesn't like American Hustle, and thinks she was miscast.

That's the extent of what I heard.

Fat? I thought she looked gorgeous in the movie.

Watched it. Really good and better than ASM2, but there's some uneveness in tone and the middle act kinda strides for a bit.

With that said, it kinda... confuses the timeline.
Does this mean X1, X2 and X3 didn't happen because Mystique got captured and experimented? If so, then how come Wolverine has those memories?
Also,
I thought Stryker was the old fart in First Class, not the guy with Trask.

I found the GAF presence of this movie sort of lacking. Sure there were threads for the commercials but it sort of died in the last couple months. No one even wanted to do the OT. The hype thread lasted like 5 pages and the Spoiler Thread lasted 1.

It's remarkable since this movie is, by almost all accounts, exceptional.

Studios ruin everything.

It's not an MCU film. Stockholders of Marvel Studios' ego aren't interested.

Didn't I read that they changed who went back in time from Kitty Pryde to Wolverine?

Shadowcat is the one sending people to the past here.

With that said is this her secondary power? I thought she can only phase through solid matter

eventually this thread will blowup with pages and pages DoFP vs Avengers nonsense, I'm sure

Have to do my driving theory test tomorrow. If I pass I'll go and see this afterwards. If not, I'll punish myself for not passing and miss it.

Here's hoping.
