Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

If Smash was a 2D sprite-based game that wouldn't be a bad idea. Pluck some shapeshifting character from a Nintendo franchise and have them turn into random characters not in the roster for certain moves. Double from Skullgirls does a little bit of that.

Of course, in 3D this would be way too much effort.

Interesting. (Are you Super Smash Flash devs listening?)

everyone goes inside Ridley's body?

No, they're stitched and hot-glued to the outside.

Assuming he's revealed at E3, "The Incredible Shulk" would be amusing. Shame I didn't think of that in time for the poll.

"A Song of Fire and Ice Climbers" is in the wrong order - it should be "A Song of Ice Climbers and Fire". Maybe "and Fire Emblem", for double punniness. (Not like it matters; "It's been a year" is winning right now.)

Oh, right, and clean:

I wonder if the characters always cheating out toward the camera will have any effect on reading their attacks? I can't imagine it will effect anything, I mean no one seemed to notice until it was pointed out directly. I like the change, I just hope when we take our pictures we can really turn the camera like 360 degrees to the point that we can see into the empty darkness that is our TV's.

Man the pictures that people will out together will hilarious.

Good news for fans of the gamecube controller. I was praying for this.

Sorry if it's been posted already.

Edit: apparently that website is banned. Well, the news is that Nintendo announced that a gamecube inspired Wii U controller will be released in time for smash.

Yeah, that's pretty cool, but it's still made by a third party right? And it's wireless? Might as well just buy the adapter to use a normal Gamecube controller if you have one.

Anyway, why do you guys think we haven't seen a DK or Kirby stage yet? Are they related to an unrevealed character? Is there no DK 3DS stage and no Kirby WiiU stage, so they two that have already been revealed count as their representation in those games? Sakurai?

There's a gamecube controller adapter? Why didn't I know about this..

Yes third party and plugs into the WiiMote, so it is basically a Classic Controller with GC form

I'd totally buy 1st party 4 pro controllers shaped like gamecube controllers. I'd pay 50 bucks each. That's 200 bucks nintendo could make from me.

I'm betting a DKCR stage for 3DS and Epic Yarn or Return to Dreamland for Wii U.

I'm not sold on third party controllers. There's this orange third party gamecube controller I got. Shaped like it, buttons look the same and everything. Nothing seemed different about it. But playing with it...the buttons are all really stiff, the sticks feel jammed. It's horrible despite looking the same. I hope they pull this off, but I do have some doubts.

I'm sure I'm really late on this but I just realized last year's Developer Direct actually showed Battlefield's Final Destination form. :o

If Nintendo just released this they could have all my money:

The third-party GC-ish controller is stupid. Why wouldn't I just buy the Mayflash adapter and use my actual GC controller?

Didn't PDP announce that they and Nintendo were working on a Gamecube-styled controller?

It's a "GameCube-style" controller that plugs into the bottom of the Wii Remote, essentially making it a classic controller. Why not just make a GameCube style Wii U Pro controller?

Or, if they won't make that, why not just use actual GameCube controllers?

The poll for the next thread title is now live!!! To get the link to the poll, just quote this post to reveal it. Remember: If you don't vote and he next thread title ends up sucking, then it's your fault (unless IntelliHeath doesn't go with the winning title, then it's his fault).

Obviously it's too late for the next thread, but looking at the list of suggestions in the poll, "The Way of the Samurai" should totally have been "The Way of the Sakurai"

You saying they should just make a Wii Remote that's shaped like a GC controller?

On the discussion of the PDP/Nintendo collaboration, PDP apparently has an official license to use Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi for the controller (though it'll probably just be something like changing the color of the plastic and some paint).

I mean, no matter what it's gonna be a 3rd party gamecube controller that functions exactly the same as an original gamecube controller + adapter. Seems pointless if you already have one.

isn't PDP's build quality pretty bad
Yeah, and this makes it seem like it'll be worse than the original as well.

The only use I see for the thing is for VC GC games, because the original CC had analog triggers iirc
I don't think that's possible if it still just acts as a Classic controller.

Don't the adapters introduce an additional element of lag? I could be wrong.
