Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

That's what the name tags and arrows above each character are for. They look pretty big and obtrusive in the POTD, so I doubt that'll be a big problem.

Yeah but what if I close my 3DS while playing? How will I know who I am? How will I control myself? Will I vanish from this world forever?...

Complaining will always be a part of every game on earth :-D

What if someone knocks the controller out of your hand and then pours milk on your head

Who will patch that

What if, while playing, somebody spills Dr. Pepper on your crotch so it looks like you peed yourself and then they all call you Dr. PeePee and then you become a professional Smash player but the nickname sticks and you're on a livestream in front of tens of thousands of people and everyone is calling you Dr. PeePee.

For people who are still skeptical: go into Brawl or Melee, do a team battle, and put Mario and Luigi on green team. Then you'll see why these outlines are a good idea.

But don't stop complaining about these changes. We'd have nothing to talk about otherwise.

Another stupid thing about this that people on other boards are pointing out: Outlines becoming hard to see against similarly-colored backgrounds, especially the Blue Team outline against a blue sky.

Not only that, but how will we be able to notice where blue characters are with a blue background?

How are you supposed to tell where Sonic is in that screenshot? There's so much blue, he could be anywhere.

Sakurai just shot himself in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Smash culture (I'm an expert), but palette swaps and teams being the same color but one being shaded slightly lighter are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an competitive Smash asshole player. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is to play like Captain Jack.

What this means is the Smash public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Smash 4 FOR WII U AND 3DS for either system, nor will they purchase any of Sakurai's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sakurai has alienated an entire market with this move.

Sakurai, publicly apologize and cancel colored outlines for Smash or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Clearly the black outlines helps that. ;3

Wasn't red team luigi pink?

Pink shirt, red overalls.

What if I'm colorblind and can't see those outlines? What if I'm blind and can't see anything?

.

so wait

what if everyone picks the same character and the same color

you have neutral, lighter shade, darker shade, and what??? this is important samurai

I think so? I never really played on red team. All I remember is green team Mario and Luigi could be downright impossible to distinguish in the middle of battle.

But Mario got a "M" on his cap while Luigi got something similar to this "L"...i think he got a L because he is "L"arger than Mario who is "M"edium sized? Am I right?
