Ok, all giggles aside this does pose a small question. What does happen when two on the same team pick the same color? Do we get the light shade again or is it first come, first serve.

I don't think that will change in this game. If both players pick the same character with the same color/alt and they are on the same team, they're still gonna need something to distinguish each other, unless you are not allowed to pick the same thing this time around.

They obviously can't. The character choosing limitations will apply to team battles too from what I understand. The outline is just an extra mechanic on top. So it'll be just like choosing characters in a free for all.

I think we are lucky Nintendo isnt printing huge manuals anyomore...because the manual would be the holy bible of Brawl...
 
Keep it up, guys, this shit's legitimately hilarious. I just hope they have Team Mode on the Best Buy E3 demo so we can all get a taste of how well this works in action.

Yepp, and that's only because there was no other way around it. But now that problem is solved. Which means.... less confusion! Not only is everyone the colour they choose rather than their teams colour, meaning the same character on the same team is different, but the outline also makes it more obvious who is on what team, equally for every character! (Green Luigi compared to Green Jigglypuff or Sonic).

Also now they can go all out and create costumes as they wish, as opposed to force some on for the sake of team battle.
 
When I saw the update I in no way imagined anyone would have any complaints to level at this. This has to be the least controversial change of all time

Unless all four players are picking blue Mario in a level made of nothing but blue Marios I think we'll be ok

Nope! Unless you happened to choose random and ended up getting the same color and character as somebody else.

It's happened to me 3 times before.

Not only that but now I'm not forced into choosing one of three costumes for team battle. I can choose from ALL the costumes the game has to offer. I can now use Dark Link in team battles for example. More than half the costumes aren't left out. This is stupid.

I don't think they showed Blue Mario, so no. Besides, team colors in Smash are Red, Green and Blue, so Bowser has to have a blue color scheme.

No, gamma radiation uses the lower case gamma. Waluigi deconfirmed.
 
I feel like this is something that I really should remember, but it's not coming to me: In Brawl, was Wario forced into the Biker outfit when Team was active, or could he also use the Overalls? Even a slight increase in the number of alternate outfits was probably enough to spur this change.

Pretty sure you could choose his alternate.

I don't know about in offline, but in online if you selected his alt outfit in Team it would just give you the default anyways.
