Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

zlCfzR9C_sYQd26mrL

Pic of the day. In previous games in the series, if you chose the red team in a team battle, your Mario would have been red. But now you can choose any color you want! The color outlining the characters will show their team affiliation.

I'm continually surprised by how not-horrible the 3DS version looks. 60 fps in 3D too, supposedly - that's fucking impressive.

After the Hyrule warriors render, I now want Impa as well. Redundant as she may be, just too cool of a design to not want.

I don't think she'll happen, but I'd welcome her inclusion.

WHAT IF the models sakurai had in the background in the smash direct are the NFC figurines
I assumed they were figmas. I don't know my toys so someone would have to scour through the vid again.

I like the idea that NFC figures offer a 3rd way to unlock secret characters.

Like:
1. Normal requirement (ex. Beat Classic Mode)
2. Fight/Time requirement (ex. Play 200 matches or play 20 hours)
3. Scan NFP figure (unlock immediately if you have figure)

NFP can also be used to store your 'custom moveset' for a character, so you can transfer to 3DS/Friend's house. Just like a memory card, but for 1 character.
I can also see special ones releasing that are basically costume DLC, or maybe they also unlock trophies.

Would like Impa to be an Assist at least

Would be so good

She is one of the most returning support-character, has been mention in the first Zelda-Game and played a major roll in two Zelda games (OoT and SS). If some Zelda character deserved it then her. The only problem is, that she could be too similar so Shiek and therefore not diverse enough for Sakruai.

Reposting from FGW:
If it's just one figurine that I can save my main on to take him/her around, I think that's a great idea - I love it, and Capcom should do the same with a Capcom All-Stars game that mixes MvC3 team building with Heroes and Heralds mode for maximum dumb.

But if Ridley is announced for DLC, and I need to:
1) Buy a figure to unlock him.
2) Use the figure every time I play (how does it normally work?).
3) Start to amount a small collection of statues for future DLC characters.

I will be seriously irked. Not enough to not buy the game, but I hate having things around my house. I try to keep the presence of unnecessary physical objects to the minumum.

If it's about saving my custom Ganondorf moveset to a figure to take to tournaments, then that is badass.

Now that shiek isn't a transformation, I'm totally OK with replacing shiek in the NEXT smash bros game. I hope he does.

In game the Hyrule Warriors Link is way better than his Smash 4 counterpart, but that is mostly due to the Smash 4 Link looking like complete ass. Comparing the character art/renders side by side I approve of the Smash 4 Link by far. Hyrule Warriors Link looks waaay too feminine even for Link.

At least HW Link's nose isn't a stick! Also HW Link is beautiful, don't talk shit.

I don't think it'll be delayed. Unlike the Wii one, NFC support can be patched in post-launch, especially if the NFC stand for 3DS isn't ready by launch.
NFC stand is coming next year. It will never be ready by launch of Smash 3DS.

Patching it afterwards would be a lot of trouble for them, especially the ones who don't connect to the Internet.

All we know now is that Smash Wii U has (unless Nintendo France is just saying nonsense lol) NFC support. We know nothing about Smash 3DS.

And before "but how will the 3DS and Wii U connect" stuff happens, the Wii U and 3DS can communicate fine without NFC. :p

When you guys mention "custom move sets" as a possibility of something associated with the NFC stuff, what does that mean? Custom button setups? I didn't think it was possible to have any kind of custom moves for a Smash character.

In the Direct he shows move variations that you can use with characters.

Man, you are out of the loop! You are going to be able to customize character movesets in the next Smash. Example:

Mario's Fireball (Neutral B):
1) Normal - as you have always seen it in games.
2) Smaller fireball with rapid fire (think Fox's laser).
3) Big, heavy, slow fireball that multi-hits for lockdown.

These were all in the trailer, so I'm not just postulating. There were a few other examples, and it's not clear if this will be a normal part of the game or

These are the 2 potential ways I see customized movesets being implemented.

1) All of the customized moves are preset.
So it is basically pick and choose what move you want for each character (like what Kartiscles said).

2) Ability to modify properties of moves with preset options.
Each move is given a bunch of property options that come with negatives.
Example: Large multi-hit fireball means shorter range, and is slower
Example 2: DK's headbutt with super armor means longer animation

Could have a class system where you can only put certain things in each move or in total.

If it's the second one, that would suck because it'd take forever to set up.

Yeah. I'm sure it's just like 'Choose one of 3+' for each 'special/B' move.
if it's 3, then you get 3^4th(one for each special) potential combinations, so 81 'different' versions of mario.

I would prefer figurines just for trophies.
I want to be able to purchase any alts or new characters digitally without physical stuff I gotta throw away or store somewhere.
