root for the home team, even though they've been relegated out of every league which people bother writing down scores for.

Goddamn After Earth was a turd.

I like Gary very much, that last shit was shit, but other than that he generally is on my side of things. Very happy for him.

LOL at them dating it for December 16th, 2016. Do they have a death wish?

Grats Whitta!

Why would that be a death wish? Kids just starting winter break, plus tons of people hit up the movies on Christmas. Looks like a win to me. If you think Avatar 2 is going to make that date, well...

Congratulations!!! If Abrams screws up Episode 7, the fate of the franchise is up to you.

Remember, GAF never forgets.

Reposting from other thread (with some shit added in)

It would be brilliant if Disney were able to give filmmakers sub-100m budgets to make a Star Wars film (I'm talking much less, maybe 50-60m) and see what they can get out of imaginative directors and writers. The universe is so rich with potential to be able to tell any kind of story.

It's Disney tho.

Still, I've propa enjoyed two or three Marvel outings. Casting is important, and they've got good ones for Episode VII. I also like Abrams' Star Trek films, and I loved Godzilla.

Regarding Verbinski - he'd be a very interesting choice, but it would cost 200m lol

Eli was a great movie. His episode of Walking Dead was fine too, nothing outstanding really. it fell inline to the rest of the first season. and im pretty sure after earth was out of his hands as soon as shamylon and smith got their hands on it

Congrats

Rogue Squadron movie, make it happen. Show the Rebels actually helping out a planet or system that the Empire is stomping on.

That's very cool. Congrats Gary!

Today's a great day for GAF! We're sending in one of our own to fix Star Wars.

Congrats, Gary. The galaxy is in your hands now!

Book of Eli hating is still a thing? That movie is dope as fuck.

I hated that
God told Eli exactly where to find the Bible in the middle of the desert.
They didn't even leave it ambiguous. If I want that kind of bullshit I'll rent Heaven Is for Real or something.

I enjoyed other parts of the movie, but what I hated I reaaaaally hated.

No see this is a situation where a fellow GAF member has been given an amazing opportunity and what many of us would like to do is shit on him. Not offer support or congratulations or even criticism in the context of useful feedback, oh no. Some of us are bad human beings.

Congrats to Gary and I look forward to seeing what they do!

So no Godzilla 2 from Edwards?

Apparently he's still on for Godzilla 2 and 3 and Legendary always planned for him to do something else before the sequels.

The report confirms that Edwards is attached to direct Godzilla 2 and even Godzilla 3, but those films are in the nascent stages and don’t even have scripts yet. As such, Edwards’ next project will take place in a galaxy far, far away. Legendary CEO Thomas Tull confirmed that Godzilla 2 is a ways off in his statement regarding the Star Wars news:

“The plan has always been for Gareth to direct a different film before we started on another Godzilla, but who knew it would a Star Wars installment? We have a great plan in store for Godzilla fans and I am looking forward to seeing Gareth’s imprint on the Star Wars universe.”

Man, some people. Book of Eli and After Earth were both successful films.

Anyway, this is great news.
Commercially successful, maybe.
Grats to Gary Whitta, very cool to see a forum member in the big leagues like this. And for what it's worth I thought Book of Eli/his Walking Dead game episode were fairly solid. Staying away from After Earth though :P.

I think Gary can now die a happy man. Wasn't this his dream ? Congrats dude.

Also, could someone explain the "Gary Whitta x4" joke ?
