Damn Ike looks really good now. I love his new design. I hope they give him a new move set and that he's not a clone of Marth... also, I'm still hoping for either Ness or Lucas soon or for Shulk at E3.
Ike was never a clone of Marth. If anything, Ike was a clone & replacement of Roy. Both being heavy characters with fire-based attacks.
Move set is the roughly the same, speed & power are different.

No. Just no. Have you guys that are claiming clone ever played Ike? The only move that is shared between Marth/Ike is down b counter bc it's so integral to Fire Emblem... S.M.H...

Pic of the day. Ike, the swordsman of magnificent strength, joins the battle!! Strike your foes down with his powerful smash attacks.
For this game, Ike's design is based on the hero that appears in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. His sword deals heavy damage in Smash Bros., so this design suits him very well! Rest assured, he can use Aether as well.
Finally a veteran reveal. Man do I love RD Ike.
I'm sorry but this is the stupidest character inclusion ever if it means no one else from Fire Emblem makes the cut (and it does). Why not Chrom? Or someone without blue hair, even? Ike just looks like a Marth lookalike, another guy with a sword doing that sort of shit.

No I'm not complaining about his outfit, I think it's fine. It's just that the colors are really off compared to his older depictions and renders.
Still I'd like Vanguard armor.

I actually haven't. I guess I was wrong, my bad there GAF. My other friends seemed to thought they had a similar but modified moveset to Marth and Roy too. I guess it's easily missed by the general public. (Weird too considering after I asked them to see if they shared the same move set or not, they thought the same as me. My friends are huge into the fighting game scene more than I am too, which is double weird. They watch Evo etc.)
Oh well... again, my mistake. I always play as Ness or Lucas or Fox. I recently started playing as Olimar too and enjoy him.

Counter, so integral to Fire Emblem it's appeared as a skill in all of 3 games or so and is pretty useless all around in 2 of them

I know, It's crazy. I make that post and then turn on Brawl and start laughing my ass off. My memory put in Vanguard Ike (because he plays like a huge bruiser) and he basically looks exactly like Ranger Ike.

That's an older controller made by the company making the GameCube-inspired one (which hasn't been shown yet). For some reason one of the news articles about the new controller used that picture as a header, and even though they labeled it appropriately it's been confusing people.

Oh come on! Are you one of the pattern people? Just cause Ike is in doesn't mean Chrome or Roy is out. Gadzooks man just let people be happy with their unique character and maybe just maybe you'll get your new character as well.

I wish I joined in the roster prediction contest cause I didn't have anyone cut in my roster. Well just Snake, but only cause I'm not sure of Sakurai's relationship with Kojima.

Ike has a fun, powerful, unique, and well-liked moveset.
He clearly looks very different now, and behaves very different as well. But even if he looked like the Brawl version, which is more similar to Marth, gameplay comes first.
I think you're jumping to conclusions here.
Roy and Marth are very different. Ike/Roy are similar but aren't exact clones as they differ in moveset, though play generally the same being heavy characters. I'm a Marth player and could never adjust to Roy correctly. I used Ike in Brawl because they nerfed Marth's sword strength - the tip of the blade was his source of power in Melee. The transition to Ike from Marth wasn't an easy one at all. Ike was so much slower than Marth.
