Activity has went way down for me, yet I remain in second place, dat legacy

The roster look pretty nice. I would be happy with any numbers whatever Sakurai would put in the game.

I should clarify my remarks. Personally If the only newcomers we got were the ones we have now plus all of the remaining Brawl vets I would be super happy. Mainly because of how the mechanics seem to be turning out and Little Mac got in. Though I would be just short of Mega Happy without Ridley and to a slightly lesser extent Dixie.

When I say 11-13 doesn't sit well with me I just mean in comparison to the 1st 3 titles. Each time Sakurai goes above and beyond with character creation and this time there is no BS subspace mode to hold half the team back.

Smash 64 - We got 12 characters. All 12 with fairly unique move sets.

Melee - We got 14 new characters and among those 8 brand new move sets with older ones revised.

Brawl - We got 18 new characters, 15 of which had completely brand new move sets, while the other 3 were luigified clones of existing characters. Not to mention veterans received a few updates here and there.

I want to say with the time given, a count of about 20 brand new move sets is plausible for the team and by the time the game releases we lose about a 5th of that. I'm just BSing numbers but that's how I see it. If we go from 39 only to 50 I won't be upset, I would just be extremely surprised. This is going to be 52+ roster for sure!

Just trust me. I know how these things work.

Theprodigy will have #1 in a thread or two, don't worry

He might even be top by as much as he did in thread 6 again (400-500)

nah I'm kicking back and watching georly vs IntelliHeath, it was already going that way at the end

and besides foxuzamaki is up there from the 1277 post thread 2 anyway

Ok, what's your definition of "kicking back"
500-600?
Something like that

No there is not, but there -is- a whole other installment in the franchise being developed simultaneously with the home console entry, so I'd approach those expectations cautiously. Not that I wouldn't be delighted if you were right and we ended up getting more than 52 characters.

Ice Climbers to get that business out of the way.

A grounded side of me wants to say either them or Wario are gonna be next, but I'm gonna place my bets over one of the Mother boys because the crazy train is all about praying for the improbable.

I think if we were getting TWENTY, we'd have more than 6 revealed by now, considering the game is 3-ish months away. By 3 months before release for brawl (japanese Jan 31 date), we had 11 newcomers revealed. Granted, we didn't have an E3 coming up, but that's almost DOUBLE what we have now. Assuming we don't get more than 3-4 cuts, 20 newcomers would put the final roster at nearly 60 characters, which is INSANE. Sakurai himself said he didn't want to add characters for the sake of increasing the roster. I think we're reaching the tipping point where in order to actuall TRY to balance the game, they have to keep the roster at a manageable size.

With 20ish newcomers, we're looking at Marvel Vs Capcom 2 sized roster, which is infamously one of the most imbalanced fighting games ever. I just don't think it's feasible to even attempt to balance that many characters in one game. That would require so much time and money on their part, and probably tons of post-release patches. This is assuming they want a balanced game, and with the way he talked about online in the direct, it sounds like they do.

I think 8-12 is fair, but I really doubt we'll have a roster increase as large as before, and definitely not larger.

*IF* I'm wrong, I'll eat my words, because 20 newcomers would be AMAZING, but I just don't see it happening :/

12 more Pics of the Day till E3!

Also I got a little depressed when I realized today's Friday and there's no pic tonight. ;(

I have a feeling a lot of vets are going to return with very few more new characters joining. I bet 3-4 more new characters, 3-4 vets cut, and the rest are returning vets to a totally number of 40 fighters.

Would love the 50 characters, but I feel like that is dreaming :(

So how long do you think will this thread survive when E3 drops, before we have to move to #9? We still have around 3 weeks to lead up to there, too.

I keep forgetting Wario hasn't been announced. Its either Ice Climbers or Wario for next reveal before E3.

I have to say that I'm glad that I didn't show up on that post dump.

We had 4 sword wielders in Melee (Link, Young Link, Marth, Roy)

4 in Brawl (Ike, Link, Marth, Meta Knight). I guess 5 if you want to count Pit.

So far we have confirmed 3 (Link,Marth,Ike) Pit shouldn't count here because of his "expanded arsenal". I'd say we have room for 2 more.

EDIT:Add 1 to Brawl and Smash 4 cause Toon Link

Then why count Link? :3

We need Takamaru, Shulk and Isaac.
