Man the more I think about it the more I realize he was a live action Impulse (though a bit cockier and less hyper.)

I'm sorry guys, I had to stop at some point.
Prediction: Quicksilver surprises people and becomes a fan favorite!
I am subscribing to this theory.
As much as I hate the design I think you're right.

Okay, that was pretty awesome. Having Singer back has me excited, but they are still tackling one of the most revered X-Men stories ever, and have tons of characters to work with in the movie, so that makes me a bit more hesitant.
But if Singer delivers something anywhere near as awesome as X2 was, I will be very happy.
Also nice to see John Ottman coming back with Singer. And with Newton Thomas Sigel back as the cinematographer, the movie should look really nice as well. But Simon Kinberg writing? Ehhhh.
Yes. It was awesome. Was there an ending credits vid? We left because I didn't see anything like the usual tease after pre-ending credits...
Jackman's performance was so subtle in this film. You don't get raging Wolverine but, as above poster puts it, good character that drives a good story. He really did a very good job.
I don't agree with Fassbender however. Nothing against his crazy talent but there wasn't enough material here and I think his character was still very bland and one dimensional but there's really nothing they can do there. I think if we had more insight into his rage and motivation, go beyond the context of "mutants must be saved" and what really drives him, it would have worked much better.
Lawrence was just outright annoying. Putting her side by side with the rest of these actors, for me, exhibits just how much of a one trick pony she is. She did not own mystique at all.
I'm sorry guys, I had to stop at some point.
I have an oddball feeling that QuickSinger is going to surprise us in a very good way.

Ok guys, real quick, cos I'm seeing this in a few hours.
Is there a post credits scene? I ask just cos First Class didn't have one.
I did say he looked bad, butttt..I'm sorry guys, I had to stop at some point.
I actually think Quicksilver will turn out better than a lot of the young cast. He's completely comic relief I bet. Maybe they'll make the future version look different too (unless he's dead). I base all of this on nothing.
Forgive me Sculli.I always felt like this interpretation of Quicksilver is super tongue in cheek corny. He has a Walkman and plays pinball/ping pong by himself. The costume doesn't look good, but it's less offensive to me because I feel like that wasn't the intention here.
Quicksilver it's a so bad it's good situation.
He looks silly and his scenes are incredibly cheesy, but you can't help but like him.
Not at all.
He's not "so bad he's good"...
What he is is an an example of how not everyone needs to be a brooding badass. He's a nerdy, greasy haired, douche bag teenager who feels no sense of responsibility towards how he uses his powers. He really just wants to have fun and do cool shit. He actually sort of reminded me of the kind of guy who'd post on NeoGAF (the 60 seconds between posts thing would bother him).
His action scenes, as well as his look, perfectly suited the character. Great direction, on Singer's part. Bad marketing on Fox's part.
I think Whedon will get more depth of personality out of the character, especially through the sibling dynamic. But damn, does he have his work cut out for him in matching the visual representation of his powers.
Go to the spoiler thread if you want this stuff answered.So... What is Apocalypse about? Does anyonedie in it? I am not into the comics... Also is it set in the future or past? Thanksfinally actually
So is this more like a First Class sequel or will I feel lost if I haven't watched the original movies?

More of a first class sequel. Disappointed the future didn't get as much screen time.
Largely first class. You won't feel lost, but there is a bit of nostalgia knowing some of the older films.
Haha, this is incredible.I'm sorry guys, I had to stop at some point.
Question, no spoilers please.Loved this very much. It really tore my expectations and was its own movie. I thought this was going to be a "me too" avengers movie but it really took its time and paid off nicely.
A few thoughts:
- wolverine still gets shafted on screen
- I really dislike Jennifer Lawrence. The only time I was pulled out of the movie was when she appeared. She's just awful
- it appears to me, righty or wrongly, that Fox really trusted Singer with this because it just didnt seem set up as a traditional blockbuster. I thought it was a really brave movie and really leaned in on characters that have been written well over the years and characters we get behind.
Good stuff ultimately.
They are wrong and have no joy in their lives.Remember this feeling, dudes. The second half of this thread will look nothing like the first half as all the kids hyped up from your reviews comes back disappointed and nitpicks this thing to death. Remember this. See: every comic film thread.

Do I need to see First Class before seeing this?
I've only seen X-Men 1-3, though I am familiar with the DoFP plotline from the comics.
Sorry if it's been asked already, I'm avoiding reading much so I don't get spoiled.

The Wolverine is decent. The only truly bad thing was Viper. Silver Samurai was goofy but still fun to watch. Is it relevant to DoFP's plot? Not really, but I don't think it's worth ignoring.yes. and the after credit scene from the wolverine

And the after scene credit from X-men 3, if you want to know how Xavier is back.
