A card with less than 4GB wasn't even on my radar when I recently upgraded. I knew VRAM requirements would go through the roof with the new consoles coming out and to be honest I would've liked to get more than 4GB if it was available for a reasonable price.

*hugs Titan*

Good news for people in the market for graphics cards, the GTX 780 and GTX 780Ti come in a 6GB variant.

finally a game that prove "2GB is enough for 1080p on Ultra!!!" wrong... I'm busting my a$$ to explain it to the other guy on another thread about 2GB vs 4GB @ 1080p... and finally here we are...

I have GTX 760 2GB, looks like I'm stuck with High texture :(
I have been trying to warn people in the PC thread, for at least 2 years, to get 3GB or more VRAM video cards. It was hard to explained that the games were designed / limited to 2GB of VRAM and not because the X GPU wasn't powerful enough to use more ram. I always get the counter argument "look at zero difference in fps between 2GB vs 4GB." When the nextgen was announced with 8GB, I knew games designed for 2GB> was near. Lets just say, I am glad I bought SLI Titans at launched. Guess, I didn't waste money waiting for the 780.

Sweet, some good news. Did you try setting them to ultra first and if so, did you notice any uncharacteristic stuttering or just consistently lower performance?

Shadows and reflection on ultra the game was unplayable with a ton of stutter and fps dropping to the teens.

I coulda sworn Toms and Anand did articles about PC hardware myths such as VRAM. It was concluded 2GB was enough for 1080p with good post-processing.

To me, the bigger problem is that many gamers still hold on to 4GB main RAM for dear life. For all the complaints about console generation holding PC gamers back, we need to convince the home turf that an extra RAM stick isn't going to kill them.

So um, before we jump to conclusions. Anyone has trouble with running the game because of low VRAM? Or are we judging this based on VRAM usage of people with more VRAM? Because everyone should know that that is a stupid metric.

You'd be surprised what removing the windows shell does for system ran availability.

I'm going to prove that even with this game, 4GB is still enough.

Man, i guess i need to wait for new drivers now (sli user 2x770 4gb edition) and feedbacks before purchasing this.
I'm ashamed that i was hyped for this, should have realized what was shown in the first reveal was vaporware.

Looking to get an Intel Core i7-4770K and the following MSI Z97 GAMING 5, Intel Z97, Socket 1150, Motherboard.

I have a 660 Ti 2GB GPU and 16GB RAM, what are the chances of me being able to run at 1080p on ultra settings?

660Ti is going to bottleneck you at Ultra. High/SMAA you should be good to go, though.

Tried Ultra-textures on my 760 2GB and its a stuttering mess from the texture streaming hitting its head in the ceiling. On high it's a VRAM-usage of 1.9+. Occasional stutter.

Really GPU-heavy on both performance and heat-development. First game i have seen to push my windforce-card to 74-75 degrees C.

God TXAA is horrible.

Remember folks if you have to choose between TXAA and FXAA, always choose FXAA.

TXAA makes all the edges blurry. I wish Nvidia would stop pushing it.

What? TXAA is extremely good in this - and I say this as someone who posts in the HRSS thread.
Yeah, so it's going to be an upgrade to a 770?

Upgrade to a 770 for this game? I wouldn't bother, tbh. The jump isn't that big performance wise and you may as well hold out for the Maxwell cards in Q3.

So nobody has properly answer my question, I'll ask it for the las time, if I have a uplay key can I unlock and play the game right now or do I have to do some kind of workaround?

Someone wrote that you must have uplay in offline mode for the game to work, since it isn't offi out.

My specs
i7 4771 @ 3.5GHz Boosted to 3.9GHz
770 GTX 4GB
16GB RAM
7200 RPM HDD

Using all the highest in game settings (ultra everything) at 2560x1440 using TXAA-2 I get average about 30-40 fps in the open world, driving at full speed, etc.

If I drop to 1080p I get 50+ FPS and using no anti-aliasing I get 60+.

I'm also using a PS4 controller to play via DS4Tool to emulate a 360 controller. Works great.

I'm happy with this performance for now, better drivers should improve the performance and I'm mostly going to be playing on PS4 anyways for the multiplayer. so locking PC at 30 FPS doesn't bother me.

I can post some screen shots of the highest settings at 1440p if anyone wants to see any.

The only game where I found the txaa to be excessively blurry was crysis 3. Which was the first game to have it I think. All other games have had much less blur, yes its there but I think it still looks good.

This is my personal opinion, I just feel that TXAA blurs way too much, even more than FXAA. FXAA accomplishes the same thing with less blurred edges. I don't know, I was just looking at screens, trying to find what I mean. I remember seeing an image of a fence, and when compared to FXAA, TXAA was extremely blurry and turned me off using it.

EDIT: FOUND IT! I find that FXAA has "cleaner" edges.

Comparing TXAA with FXAA is funny enough.

You do realize the bottom image is TXAA right?

Of course, because developers make games based on the fact that some gamers are still using 4GB RAM. It's a constraint.

If you compare with GTA IV at release, it's absolutely fantastic.

The thing with GTA4 was that the sliders enabled people to use ridiculous LOD and draw distances. Some people were not able to handle that. Game was not well optimized though, no question.

Watch Dogs? It has its moments but what's up with the ridiculous VRAM requirements (without good draw distance) and other things. Game just seems unpolished.

Can anyone comment on SLI performance. I'm running a 680x2 SLI (2GB), and I'm wondering if the SLI is borked and whether I should just run one GPU.

So, how to force Vsync externally? The ingame setting is probably the worst vsync implementation I've experienced so far.

Vsync off: stead 60fps in the current area, perfectly fine, but awful tearing
Vsync 1x: game randomly drops to about 40fps with slowdowns
Vysnc 2x: game drops to 15, jumps to 30, so and and so forth, also slowdowns

D3D overrider didn't do it for me :/

Oh god im fearing Tuesday now, pretty sure my rig is going to tank while trying to play this game.

Anyone have impressions for something similar to:

2500k @ 4.8ghz
GTX 770 2GB (am cry)
8gb DDR3 1600mhz
250gb SSD

EDIT: FOUND IT! I find that FXAA has "cleaner" edges.

No, it's more alisased, ergo, FXAA is doing a worse job.

What you should be comparing is textures as that's where FXAA/TXAA does suck versus MSAA. TXAA works off MSAA and adds in some temporal AA where as FXAA is just straight vaseline.
