Says here he was visited by the cops for posting those videos but they didn't do anything and that if they had searched his place they would have found the guns.

FUCK man they were actually really close to stopping it before it happened.

And this is eventually the whole situation in a nutshell. There will always be people who are in a bad place and eventually decide to act on their selfish impulses.

You can only go so far and blame society, because this person was given all the possible breaks to make something out of himself or find a way out from his negativity - there is always a choice.
 
Weird, I just finished Michel Houellebecq's novel Whatever and this kid reminds me of the character Raphael Tisserand.
Only that Raphael skipped the murders, he went home and jerked off instead.

Anyways I think it's a combination of his previous history, mental illness, loneliness, access to guns and possibly some online influences.

It is very poorly written, in an extremely blunt and unappealing manner (betraying the entire concept of 'show, don't tell', but while there is many similarly deluded parts, it is much more autobiographical than that suggests. While I've not yet reached the major events, his misogynistic and narcissistic comments are not as constant as that openiing suggests (they are very frequent though, don't get me wrong). One thing that strikes me, even at this early stage, is some of the pettiness that eminates from his descriptiion of his 'worst enemy' Joey, and the satisfactiion he felt in excluding him from his party as a form of revenge (it's hard to say whether or not this was how he felt at the time, or if he projected more recent views onto the event).

EDIT: He does seem completely unaware as to how far removed from reality he sounds, however.

The little prick was crazy, sure, but lets not pretend his violent lashing out wasn't in part fuelled by our society's treatment of women and the aggression they're frequently subjected to while being told their concerns aren't real.

Don't most sociopaths try to say things that will shock people, publicly? Some sort of attempt to get help or something. I know that crazy cannibal dude in Canada who was arrested in Germany was like that, and I get the impression it's a pattern we often see. People should be much more willing to report someone who is acting like that, but I guess authorities will usually do nothing. Too many old people preventing laws being passed that would allow people to be detained/hospitalized for showing significant signs of sociopathy.

The actual issue here is subtly highlighted in what you believe, if you can honestly entertain it; that that sort of jazz is quintessential, a must. He thought so too. That's why he killed when it seemed he wasn't getting any. The issue I see he fell into was he ran with ideas of what one must have and assumed it must apply to him to. I'm two years older than him, I lack the same sexual experience he did, but I am totally content, because I know the idea that I must engage in sex to be a social idea. For him, he really thought he must, and that became the progenitor to all of his problems.

I'll be frank with how severely he took the desire of relationships: he wanted to eliminate almost all women on the fucking planet (sans a few for reproduction) because he wasn't getting any relationships.

So what exactly is your diagnosis of his problem? You say sex and a relationship wouldn't help him out, but then turn around and say his perception of needing sex and relationship was the problem.

I don't know how I would help someone who shows warning signs like this aside from either A) providing relationship advice or b) suggesting they get professional help if they look really unhinged and in the case of B) I'm not sure how a professional can ignore this being the focus of their patient's thoughts.


Actually a more important question is what are your thoughts on possible solutions? Telling people sex and relationships are just social constructs is too simplistic and I don't see how that would be a satisfactory method of getting through such people.
 
He seemed entirely driven and motivated by jealousy since his childhood, whether it was someone not showing him the attention he wanted, or if someone he perceived as a social lesser received something that he himself felt entitled to.

Despite his deep rooted hatred for women and Asian people, he still seemed closer to his mom and never judged her for having the same characteristics. And he somehow turned that non-white hatred and self-perceived inadequacies on their head and channeled it into some sort of narcissistic self-sanctification. A lot of people with self-esteem issues tend to overcompensate and end up projecting a superiority complex.

All those factors coalesced in a hateful individual that readily accepted (and warped) subtle societal messages and took them to extremes.

He had two housemates, and in his (dull) manifesto, he claimed that they would be the first ones he'd kill, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were among the bodies found at the apartment.

I tend to agree with your sentiment but sometimes I do wonder if there are just individuals who do not have the standard parts in their mind that are supposed to be there in people - empathy and consideration for others.

A lot of people go through tremendous difficulties in their life without causing trouble but then there are others who will kill in the name of some political ideology, religion or because people are not willing to bend to their will. It's always the same thing with these murderers, a sense of superiority and victim mentality. Other people are scum and any notion of perceived outside happiness is a grave sin, because the chosen one can't find any enjoyment in his life etc.

Honestly most people who are virgins at an older age aren't strange or creepy. They are just like everyone else, oftentimes they grew up in a strict environment or they are just a bit more shy than the average person. This guy is fucked up in the head beyond belief. He certainly isnt doing those older virgins *cough* any favors. Basically the reason they are shamed beyond belief and are forced to lie about themselves, which if they are honest people, won't put themselves in a position where they have to lie about their history which ensures their solitude.
