Unlocking shit in a STORE demo makes no sense, regardless of what this guy's excuse is. Individuals are unlikely to have more than one or two matches each, so it'd just be barring the people who came first from experiencing the full demo roster. It's not like a downloadable demo where the same person is going to be playing for the whole time

It was only mentioned to happen for the "Tourney one" though, which would be interesting as something to happen at the end of it like Sakurai comes on stage and picks Ridley vs the Winner.
Well Melee did save that only for the clones.

Still don't get why this is getting any credibility at all. Sure it doesn't have anything that's blatantly fake (Except the suggestion that you can unlock characters in a store demo) but that's because it seems like its trying to play things safe by completely avoiding showing any characters or such that we haven't seen before. If I wanted to leak something like this, I wouldn't be teasing Ridley like that because a plausible Ridley render is literally the only thing that could give this rumor credibility. It's a professional looking fake in some ways I guess (Except that I find it hard to believe Smash would be given such an awful, awkward UI) But we've had plenty of those in the past as well.

Yeah, but on the official site and in various videos character names are also in all caps - only "Wii Fit" isn't. Whatever reason it's the odd one out there, I don't imagine Sakurai would suddenly change his mind for the character select.

Ok Looked again and he said Megaman and little mac are only available for the tourney, but even then does anyone really believe the tourney version is going to be any different than the best buy version? That makes literally zero sense. Why would Nintendo go out of their way to not let people at best buy play those characters?
I would imagine that it's because "Wii Fit" is a trademarked brand name and is represented not in all caps, but in the format shown above. Characters like Mario and Zelda are fine because they are representing the character name, not the series name, like WFT is. It's interesting the Mr. Game & Watch doesn't use this format though, at least not in the last two Smashes.

When we talk about stupid fake leaks like this, we only give the leakers credibility and create incentive for others to make fake leaks. The best thing to do is ignore them.

However, I wouldn't use the capital "Wii Fit" as a complete deconformation because in Brawl, Olimar is always shown in the official website as "Pikmin & Olimar", whereas on the Character Select Screen is just "Olimar". And it's not that the name is too long, as they fit the entirety of "Mr. Game & Watch" on the CSS.

I might be off base here, but 64 used "Battle Royal" as the name for the standard multi-player match, so, since these games don't have subtitles that lend themselves to a good mulit-player mode name, I kinda assume we'd go back to that rather than move to using "Smash," but that's just me.
Edit: OK, it was only called "Battle Royal" in Japan, and was just "VS Mode" here in the states.
Edit 2: Wrong again. It was "VS Mode" in both regions, with the standard match type being "Battle Royal" in Japan, and "Free-For-All" in the US, just like it is in this leak, and now I've undermined my own point.

Not neccessarily. Dixie's the only cut character from Brawl that Sakurai's talked about. Was supposed to be like Ice Climbers with Diddy, except with swapping the lead with their B-Down. I kinda think he just didn't like how it was going and didn't see her as worth being an individual character.
Not that I think King K. Rool is at all likely.

I still expect him to make some sort of physical appearance due to his cult status like Ashley/Skull Kid have, but his lack of relevancy to DK despite its resurgence during the Wii-era definitely works against him.

I'm not sure about Shulk, but I don't get why everyone just assumes the Chorus Men leak is true. I'm extremely skeptical about that character in particular.
That said, I also don't think K. Rool really has much of a chance, unfortunately. I think if DK gets a third character, it'll be Dixie (which I'm okay with).
