Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Yep. This fake leak put me over the edge as far as clamoring for a real leak finally.

Inject the shit into my veins already!

I also have a weird feeling K Rool might be playable over Dixie this time. It just seems totally like a classic Samurai move.

Still discussing them pics?

Cannot wait for the real UI.

I wish they'd have a demo in the UK. It sucks that we miss out. I need my fill of handheld Smash.

A small part of me wants to skip the demo and go in totally blind but NOPE. Not happening. I need to play my Smash a.s.a.p. and it'll be glorious when I hear dat intro music and see the real select screen (lite)

I know who I'll be wrecking fools with if he's available in the demo; he got cut fighting for his friends.

Hey guys, look at this piece of shit I just made.

eeItWar.jpg

It's a prop Title Belt I made for my People's Challenger Contest entry. I kinda want to do a little pro wrestling promo thing with it, and I would have just used a toy WWE belt, but due to the rules about not having other companies products in your submission, I had to make my own. The photo's a little blurry, and hides just how shitty this thing looks up close, even considering it's made of cardboard and duct tape, but most of those imperfections probably won't so up in the video either, so I'm not too worried.

... What if there is no demo near you?

Post it on GameFAQs and /v/ and say it's a leak of a pre-order bonus

I realised something a while ago, but wouldn't Mr. Game & Watch be really hard to see in the Balloon Fight stage?

Since he is solid black anyway,I bet his white outline will make him stand out from the background.

I am really excited to play on that stage. I wonder what stages will be available in the wii u demo. Probably all the revealed one's so far.

Ike isn't cut in the way he meant but in a different way. Wolf will be cut the same way as Ike

I really hope not. ._.

There are two characters that I hate and I don't care about and Wolf is one of them. Hell, I wouldn't care if they ignored the StarFox series as a whole, except Fox of course. I was surprised that they added Wolf in Brawl.

But oh well, opinions.

Heretic. Wolf will be in, more distinguished than fox and falco and he will be CUT

One thing that always fascinates me with people actively wanting veterans cut is that logically speaking, veterans probably take less than a fifth of the effort a newcomer would take, no?

New textures/models aside, 90% of the veterans are essentially reskins of their brawl incarnations with balance tweaks. It's not like cutting 1 veteran would open up enough dev time for anything worthwhile.

Yep. That's why it always frustrated me so much when everyone would wave the banhammer around at Ike.

Most of the characters people want cut have almost totally unique movesets, too.

Ike-uniqe
Wolf-mostly uniqe
Lucas-mostly unique
Rob-totally uniqe
Lucario-totally unique

You would think Toon Link making the cut would shut all the cutists up but nope

1/5 seems like a stretch (especially when some characters like Bowser/Pit/Charizard get significant changes), but I mostly agree that it's dumb people keep advocating veterans getting cut due to the idea they're taking up 'slots' meant for newcomers.

I'm definitely fine with people hating Wolf and wanting him cut because they don't like him as a character...but if you think he's a clone then you're just wrong. He has similar special attacks to the other spacies, and he's a fast faller. That's where the similarities end. He's always felt less like a clone than Lucas to me.

Oh so that's what you meant.

All right, now I love you!

Yay :) I would never want Wolf axed. He is too much fun. I just hope he is buffed a lot. Especially his up and side specials. Most self destructive character behind Ike.

Interestingly enough, the only character I outright didn't see coming back was pokemon trainer. I wish I had been louder about that just for the sheer gloating I could've done.

Yeah.. in retrospect it seems obvious that would happen, huh? That's 3 characters to port over with each needing to be balanced in a way to where they wouldn't suck like in brawl. Messy prospect for the devs, for sure.

I threw the 90% in there for a reason. There's a world of difference between a character like Fox & Bowser.

Based on some of the changes to veterans being observable on the actual development blog though, I'd argue that a lot of tweaks to characters (that didn't get a whole overhaul like bowser) weren't done at the cost of a newcomer but cause time was left to add changes.

After all, ZSS's shooting pose got changed after the direct. Considering how soon the 3DS version will be out that's a really really recent change.

You forgot the Super leaf P.O.T.D. where Sakurai admitted he didn't know if it should allow for tail attacks or not.

Stuff like that makes it obvious what no bloated single player mode like S.S.E did to the development of this game. That and Namdai's involvement are turning out to be a godsend.

Oh I didn't forget, I just figured I'd mention a character-specific example. It's true that the super leaf's attack abilities still being up for discussion this late in development is pretty telling/extreme.

All of this also shows that Sakurai will try to continuously cram as much content in the game as is humanly possible until a clear deadline is reached.

I agree with that sentiment and also think that it could mean the game is further away than we think; very end of summer most likely.

I look forward to seeing Wario's new model. The new brighter colour palette should make his Wario outfit much more attractive.

Team no cuts.

I still am holding out hope for squirtle/ivysaur being unlockables, which is why they havent been shown :P I know squirtles chances are diminished because we already have another water type, but his moveset is unique. They'd have to give him and ivy a new move, but still.

Like neorice said, the work to keep them in the game is way less than the work to put in a new guy.

Hopefully we get mewtwo back, also. Roy's the only one I don't see coming back, because he wasn't "de-cloned" for brawl, so he might as well be a brand new character.

Weren't you the one who complained about his gloves for his classic outfit looking like coloured in fingers? Surely you also look forward to them doing a better job this time round.

Damn you've got a good memory. That was in fact me.

And yeah, Wario was one of my mains in Brawl but I always found quite a few aspects of his model lazy/sloppy.

I don't think I ever used his Warioware outfit when I played him in Brawl.

Admittedly that was very rare but his normal outfit is just better.

I thought his model was fine. Great even, given how the Ware-look stopped people assuming right off the bat he'd be a Mario clone.

It was more how it animated like a pusedo-Mr. Game & Watch that got me. Especially after Wario Land Shake It came out so soon afterwards.

I still think vanilla Brawl's implementation of his trademark shoulder-barge is half-arsed at best, but admittedly when I said it doesn't even count as being a reference a year (or two?) ago was pushing it.
