Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

For me, Isaac and Geno are probably my most wanted right now...meaning I'm probably on the road to disappointment. Isaac maybe, but I'm not delusional enough to expect Geno.

They aren't going to reveal unlockable characters with a few exceptions (Megaman, Luigi, and any other third party characters). And Smash is only one part of their e3 showing, it's ridiculous to expect that many character reveals during it

I'm not talking about the E3 Direct only though. There's a 1.5 hour Q&A, they'll definitely show things there.

This game could have a lot of sword users
if Chrom and Takamaru are added. I'd be okay with that

Forgetting someone, are we

Issac isn't going to be added.

Isaac will probably be an unlockable assist trophy.

Your favorite character not revealed isn't going to be added/will be cut and likley deserves to be
:P

Obviously. Like I always said I don't expect him to be in the game but if he did then he's a bonus addition for me.

Why are you giving up, come on, Isaac's going to be in, no worries

I'm ok with any mario rpg acknowledgement. We've had 0 so far.
Unfortunately, we're almost for sure not going to get any. I'd be happy if we got something Paper Mario related (I'd love a TTYD stage with audience reacting to what's going on in the fight), but if we ever get anything substantial from SMRPG, I will freak the fuck out.

I don't give a flying fuck about Takamaru. If Platinum was making a Takamaru character action game I would give more than a flying fuck, I would give all the fucks. But I'd rather a Sheik or modern Impa cag from them.

Then I'd question your Nintendo hardcorism. You call yourself a Nintendo fan?

With it being a Q & A, what are the chances of some direct de-confirmations on characters? It's not crazy to think someone could directly ask Sakurai if, say, Snake is back, right?

Also, happy birthday, Troubled Bat-man!

Has there been any news on event mode? The events in brawl were pretty fun.

Except the Yoshi team of 50

That event was so hard to in part due to the wii being slow at loading.

Yep agreed with you there. Damn loading of the dual-layer DVD caused the Yoshis to load pretty slowly. Was completely fixed when I switched to HD based loading via homebrew.

I don't care about the main character in a Nintendo game that never left Japan and never became a big franchise. Yeah, I have not problem calling myself a Nintendo fan.

Well it depends on if the entire roster is revealed at E3. If there are still more characters to reveal after E3 they will simply say that they can't comment because if someone asked if a certain character was coming back and they confirmed that character wasn't what would they say when someone 2 questions later asks about another character that is coming back but hasn't been announced yet.

No news on it yet, but I hope the lack of a SSE mode lets Sakurai polish these to hell and back. I'll have to say that I thought Brawl's events to be lacking; didn't have the creativity nor the varying mechanics many events in Melee had. (Come on, no Trophy Tussle?) Crossing fingers!

I know I'm asking too much but I want individual target test per character. It was super fun in Melee.

I think that director event will contain character moves explanation, game mode explanation, etc, but no character reveal.

Probably, but we're still not sure about it, right? There may be a short presentation with an extra trailer at the start/end of it with various characters.

You guys....
I mean, this is the same crowd that thinks Takamaru out of nowhere has a high chance of getting in
And has legitimately expected far more absurd
Just give Isaac some leeway, come on

Isaac still has less of a chance than takamaru, because takamaru gets the 'retro character bonus' that people like ice climbers got. Isaac isn't far behind though :)

That's not 'SUPER MARIO RPG,' that's 'Mario and Luigi.'

We supposedly ALMOST had this song in brawl (there's a filename that implies it was going to be included, i think?) Super Smash Bros Brawl The lost tracks: Mushroom Forest
To quote TCRF
snd_bgm_A12_MORINOKINOKO - The name translates to "Forest Mushrooms". Although the most popular theory is that this was "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms" from Super Mario RPG, its position in the list—which follows a general chronological trend—reveals that it was most likely the theme for Toadwood Forest, from Partners in Time. It would have been yet another theme for the underground version of the Mushroomy Kingdom stage.

Nintendo UK tries to make us forget the NFC slip!

"On 8th May 2014, Mr Iwata announced the decision for Nintendo to release character figurines with built-in NFC functionality that are compatible with video games starting from this year-end sales season. There has, however, not been any specific announcements regarding which software titles for Nintendo platforms will use this functionality. We have no other announcements to make at this time."

I really don't believe in Takamaru's inclusion. I feel the only precedent for it is Nintendo Land having a game based on it, and even then that is a pretty large stretch since it feels like the game was given the Takamaru label after conception since it's the closest thing they can associate the game's gimmick with. Nintendo Land is, after all, basically a collection of tech demo mini games.

Of course I might be biased on account of being bored of sword users. I remember Sakurai saying he preferred to pick characters that aren't built around fighting abilities and I can agree with that since it feels so much more interesting to go with other, more unorthodox choices. Let some dues be paid obviously for inclusions like Ike and possibly Chrom but I don't feel Takamaru fits that bill.

Isn't it odd that Nintendo hasn't shown any Sonic related AT, items or characters in the game? We have 1 for Megaman but none for Sonic

I think that director event will contain character moves explanation, game mode explanation, etc, but no character reveal.
You never know. Wii Fit Trainer was revealed hours later on the showroom floor after the E3 Direct already aired. Since Nintendo is doing multiple events pertaining to Super Smash Bros that day, I wouldn't be surprised if they spaces out the character reveals.

- 1 During the E3 Direct
- 1 During the Tournament
- 1 During the Developer Session

It would be nice to see them back, but given the roster increases since melee its not too likely. The individual target tests were great for learning little nuances about each character though.
The ones in Brawl we're meh and relied too much on items, to the point where pretty much every character played the same on some of them.

No confirm, no deny...the exact opposite of what happened when the hardware rumour surfaced: in that case, they flat out denied the possibility.
So...it's happening, gentlemen?

takamaru being a samurai would give him way different movesets than the other sword users, which is mostly based around fencing.
