Official PR from NoA:
NINTENDO BRINGS A SNEAK PEEK OF SUPER SMASH BROS. TO SELECT BEST BUY STORES IN JUNE

May 27, 2014

Nintendo has a smashing surprise in store for fans this summer. In partnership with Best Buy, Nintendo will offer players a chance to go head-to-head with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U before it launches in stores later this year. On June 11 from 4 to 9 p.m. and June 14 from 12 to 5 p.m. local time, more than 100 Best Buy stores around the U.S. will host "Super Smash Bros. Smash-Fest @ Best Buy," an event that features the same demo version of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U that people will get to play at the E3 2014 video game trade show in Los Angeles. Participating Best Buy locations for the event can be found by visiting http://www.bestbuy.com/smashfest.

The four-player demo of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U lets players battle it out against one another using their favorite characters from fan-favorite video game franchises like Pokémon, Super Mario Bros., Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog and The Legend of Zelda.

In addition to the action-filled demo, the first 70 attendees who pre-order Super Smash Bros. for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS at each event will receive a rare collectible Super Smash Bros. gold coin (one per customer, while supplies last). As a bonus offer, people will get a $5 My Best Buy Rewards Zone certificate when they both pre-order and pick up their game upon release.

As one of E3 2014's most talked-about games, Super Smash Bros. will likely draw a crowd to the Best Buy locations, so attendees should bring their Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS systems to the event and take advantage of the perfect chance to play games like Kirby: Triple Deluxe or Mario Golf: World Tour.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are scheduled to launch in 2014. For more information about the games, visit http://www.smashbros.com/us/.

Thanks to Georly posting it in the Smash Bros 4 thread.

Same as last year, wed and fri. (No, i havent checked to see if it was already made into another thread)

Sorry about the thread title, I was not thinking. I forgot not everyone knew about the Best Buy Demo. Asked a mod to change it. Thank you EatChildren!

I thought this for a downloadable demo. My heart stopped.

Nintendo will never do that because they can very closely control the distribution / exposure with an in-stores demo.

The close scrutiny that would occur with a downloadable demo could leave Nintendo vulnerable, in more ways than one.

Terrible thread title.

Anyways wish I could be excited about this but I work those days.

Though after work there's a best buy right on the subway line....

I don't buy that for a second, but I know we won't get a home demo.

Smash Bros. is still an unfinished game with like 6 months to go until release.

An unfinished game with potential bugs and exploits and nonsense that hasn't been hammered out yet.

6 months is a lot of development time for a company like Nintendo.

Good thing I've been so excited for the Best Buy demo that the thread title didn't confuse me.

I could have killed you, Boss.

Well look at the bright side, you accidentaly got more reponses that could could ever hope with the original topic =P

Good to know the dates are confirmed, I hope they expand the number of Best Buys this year, last year had a waiting list and not everyone could demo a game on the Wednesday (Don't know about Saturday though).

I'd say it's more likely that they wouldn't do a demo so early on for download because of potential data mining issues that would completely undermine the character reveal campaign.

Good thing I saw this on main OT.

Didn't even notice that title could've meant downloadable demo
Now hope this thread is at least half as good as the 'Skull Kid in Smash 4 Confirmed' thread

I don't buy that for a second, but I know we won't get a home demo.

The finalized code of Smash Bros. Brawl had a critical, unpatchable exploit that allowed for running unsigned code. It's not that crazy to think that they're holding a demo close to their heart because of that, among other issues.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure that there is one of few reasons why Nintendo don't do shop demo for Smash is the picture below of this post.

why would they release a downloadable demo on two days
I kinda thought that too afterwards lol, but still, I made a terrible thread title. Sorry to everyone who got confused.

And before anyone asks, this was the old title: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Demo on June 11th and June 14th (details coming soon)

This thread just makes me wonder WHY DOESNT NINTENDO DO DEMOS for at least their own games? idc about other games. just... please.

fire emblem, pokemon mystery dungeon and mario golf are like the only thing theyve done demos for

I remember the MS Xbone troll that showed up last year. LOL

I hope my BB is doing this, but they never have done the Nintendo events before, so I doubt it.

Even though i missed out on last years event. I might try to go to this one if it's going to be one of the more local best buys where i live instead of the ones that are an hour drive.
