What is that?

Well, they allowed us to beta-testing Playstation All Stars Battle Royale's servers for them to see if they can make it stable. Someone out there decided to hacked the files and found all playable characters from the files, and I heard that third-party companies were upset that their characters were leaked out instead of having proper reveal announcement.

Basically we know full roster for awhile because of demo/beta.

im getting annoyed with these in store only demos, i think his is just ridiculous. Whats the issue with putting demos on eshop nintendo!? 0_o

E3 demos are buggy messes that shouldn't be played by the general public without supervision.
Ask anyone that goes to E3 regularly. Demos crash and lock up all the time.
The reason is that demos basically have to be treated as their own game which takes time away from proper development. For E3, they forgo a lot of the necessary evaluations because they know industry people will be the only ones playing them.
If they were putting the demos up on the eShop it would take a lot more time and resources than what they're doing here.

It's the exact same demo that they will have at E3, yes.
And Mario Kart has been the same demo since last E3 with no updates.
They could do a demo for it, but it's unlikely.

Same locations for my state, so that means I'll be fighting for my friends this June 11th, woo-hoo :D

Edit: One of the first 70? Guess I'll be leaving earlier than normal

Be one of the first 70 attendees at each event to pre-order Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U and receive a rare collectible Super Smash Bros. gold coin (one per customer, while supplies last). You will also get a $5 My Best Buy™ certificate when you pick up your fully paid game upon release.
Welp, guess I'm camping out if needed.

Why is it always the Long Island City Best Buy that gets it in NYC? I'd figure the Union Square location would make the most sense to hold the event but I guess Nintendo thinks otherwise. Regardless, I'll be making the trip to get my hands on it.

I wish they allowed more time for the demo. It always gets so packed that I feel pressured to give up my spot when I'm playing.

Will probably go anyway.

Driving 80 minutes because our local bestbuy doesn't have it (which makes little sense. An employee friend of mine mentioned that they sell much more than the location that's getting it. Plus we're in a much more populated area).
But oh well, it'll be worth it for Smash.

Welp, can only make the weekend one at the closest store to me, and the wait for that one will probably be 3+ hours.

At least I'll probably be able to pick up a bunch of StreetPasses.

Nearest store hosting the demo event is over an hr away for me. Last yr they held the event at the Best Buy only 10mins away from my house.

The only Best Buy in Utah that has this demo so far is over sixty miles from my hometown.

I don't think I'm itchin' to play this game that bad. Perhaps more information will come to light regarding what stores will have a playable demo.

Holy shit... my city is on the list. *Not the one that's highlighted* Now I'm gonna board the Hype Train.

Couple of questions if I decide to go:

1. What were the lines like?

2. What should I do if I see a Xbone Troll rep at the event?

Damnit, Nintendo. Fresno is the 5th largest city in California and smack dab in the middle of the state. Throw me a bone. Closest event to me is San Jose and that's a 2.5 hour drive :\

Wow, didn't expect both Folsom AND Citrus Heights to be on there (last time it was Elk Grove only for the Sacramento region). But those times dang it!

^Hah, you'll be angry to know that Folsom and Citrus Heights are like 10-15 minutes away from each other so we definitely could have spared a store for Fresno's sake ;-)

Official PR from NoA

NINTENDO BRINGS A SNEAK PEEK OF SUPER SMASH BROS. TO SELECT BEST BUY STORES IN JUNE

May 27, 2014

Nintendo has a smashing surprise in store for fans this summer. In partnership with Best Buy, Nintendo will offer players a chance to go head-to-head with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U before it launches in stores later this year. On June 11 from 4 to 9 p.m. and June 14 from 12 to 5 p.m. local time, more than 100 Best Buy stores around the U.S. will host "Super Smash Bros. Smash-Fest @ Best Buy," an event that features the same demo version of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U that people will get to play at the E3 2014 video game trade show in Los Angeles. Participating Best Buy locations for the event can be found by visiting http://www.bestbuy.com/smashfest.

The four-player demo of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U lets players battle it out against one another using their favorite characters from fan-favorite video game franchises like Pokémon, Super Mario Bros., Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog and The Legend of Zelda.

In addition to the action-filled demo, the first 70 attendees who pre-order Super Smash Bros. for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS at each event will receive a rare collectible Super Smash Bros. gold coin (one per customer, while supplies last). As a bonus offer, people will get a $5 My Best Buy Rewards Zone certificate when they both pre-order and pick up their game upon release.

As one of E3 2014's most talked-about games, Super Smash Bros. will likely draw a crowd to the Best Buy locations, so attendees should bring their Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS systems to the event and take advantage of the perfect chance to play games like Kirby: Triple Deluxe or Mario Golf: World Tour.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are scheduled to launch in 2014. For more information about the games, visit http://www.smashbros.com/us/.

Haha, I like that they added a bit in the PR that essentially says "REMEMBER TO STREETPASS".

Won't be going to E3 this year. Every email and invite I get is another painful reminder.

Was at least happy I'd get the chance to try Smash, before this popped up and I realized I'm nowhere near a participating store. They have 3 locations in my state, all of which are about 20 miles from each other and grouped all the way on the eastern part of the state, nowhere near the most populated or biggest city the state has.

Brilliant.

Probably not, same thing happened for the MK8 demo, NOA announced the US demo first and then Nintendo Canada announced the one in Canada some days later.
Alright, that's good to hear. I remember they announced both US and Canada for last year's E3 demos, so I was a bit worried due to that. Thanks for the info.

Of course, nothing in Western New York. Everything's closer to NYC than Buffalo as usual. At least one store in our area would be nice, Nintendo!

I still can not believe Manhattan was snubbed. Not to sound entitled, but we do house the Nintendo World Store. Smh.
