Too bad they're like 5 years late on 75% of these memes. Well at least they got watch_doge

Still though, interesting for Ubisoft to include them. Better than trying to be 100% super serious with your game I guess.

I really hate that part of the internet, and that part of the internet is pretty much everywhere. It's just so repetitive and humorless. It's like when you're 8 years old and you repeat the same lame joke over and over again.

Because disgonbegood.gif, legitshook.gif, thisisneogaf.gif and banderas.gif aren't played to death here!

Since they're going down this route, I'll be disappointed if they don't have "This sign is a lie".

People really think that hacking a message board and seeing a reference to a meme ruins the game? I mean don't get me wrong it's not funny, but it's such a tiny part of the game that I couldn't really care less. But that's me.

It's 4th-wall breaking. Moreover, it's breaking with little purpose and pretty bad to boot for the most part. Game-ruining? Doubt it, but when you do see it, it does ruin the mood.

The game takes place in the future. Maybe later ctos will be a thing.

Y'all need to relax your sense of humour a bit, there is nothing sacred about dumb internet jokes. This is infinitely better than the grim, gritty "wake up sheeple" style "hacktivism" angle they could have gone with, and hell look at the sheer number of them, at least there's some variety.

good work I say.

Hrmm, fair enough I guess. I was actually more annoyed when I hacked a Raving Rabbid that was sitting on a guys shop stand.

read the OP?

That's why I said it. You say you'd like to think it's satire. That's why I question your knowing what it is.

This is just terrible nerd shit thrown in at the last second because the development on this game was so fucked. Consider the joke he is putting on the billboard in the future ...is text.

They could have come up with something original and funny. Or at least given some of these relevance to the game. That "This is your brain on CTOS" sign actually got a laugh out of me, because it had context. There's a difference between referencing something to create humor and just regurgitating something that's been said before.

Bleh. Frankly, I'm more disappointed that you can't just hack it with a custom message. And Jesus, the irrelevancy of some of those memes should show just how long this damn game was in the "polish" phase.

In Borderlands & Guacamelee, I was okay with the meme humor. Those games were already comedic, and it mostly fit with the tone. But here? It's really awkward & out of place. Man, had you told me two years ago that I wouldn't be picking this game up on release day - I'd call you a filthy liar. But the little disappointments just keep stacking up.

If they kept all of the references as super dated and old like All your base I'd be totally okay with it. Aiden is like around 40, last time he checked the jokes were about Mr T Eating Your Balls

They should've allowed you to input your own.
Spoiling Game of Thrones for assholes who try to invade you would be leagues better than shitty memes.

Also, I'd argue Guacamelee! did a much better job integrating memes into its world. I mean, it matched the tone at least. Here it doesn't really seem to do that.

oh, that was really hard to read into your post..

anyway, what im saying is that the only excuse I can think of on why they'd do this is because realistically there probably could be (and actually are) a bunch of 4chan/reddit/whatever people who'd "hack" this shit onto signs, so it's not like its that far fetched to think they intend you to laugh at how terrible this whole thing is.. if you wanna give em credit

but yeah, I dont

That is just straight up mean, lol. Can you imagine the rage quitting and hate messages if you put "Tyrion dies next week" on a sign?

DISCLAIMER: I totally made that up as I am not a GoT book reader and have no idea what is going to actually happen next week,

Ubisoft just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Canadian culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Canada, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the Canadian public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Watch_Dogs, nor will they purchase any of Ubisoft's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Ubisoft has alienated an entire market with this move.

Ubisoft, publicly apologize and cancel Watch_Dogs for PS4 and Xbox One or you can kiss your business goodbye.
