Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Percentage total alternates with player number/name over the character's head I assume

Edit: huh, thought the steam was coming from the background, good to know what to look for in 4 player matches

ahahahahaha

When you stay in the same place for a period of time, the game probably changes the 1-4P or name indicator to a percentage indicator. It's been in older games but not in the versus modes if I'm remembering correctly.

Speaking of which, I finally got the game Monday

Image is weird, but I feel great, like there's a giant wait off my shoulders

So what trophy will be today? Maybe it will be Lucina this time around

EDIT: Sakurai ninja'ed me

Have fun with that, hope you don't scratch or ruin your touch screen.

Shit gets intense in both of those games.

Not HUD/UI would be cool I guess. Shit got annoying sometimes on big stages.

EDIT: Oh its a indicator? Huh...interesting. Guess this will help new players know when to play safe. But it also says to the opponent when to go all out.

Pic of the day is the Lizard everyone was expecting for a long time on the Metroid stage.

we were expecting Yoshi for a while months ago :P

Is it sad that I didn't notice the steam before?

God dammit batty, find a mod to bet against already. Why don't you have your "Troubled Bet" tag yet???

Edit: wat indeed o.O

Pssh. I think if I avatar bet against a mod and won, i'd be banned. XD

Yes, i'm afraid.

Pic of the day. Characters that have heavy damage slowly start to emit steam. When your opponent starts to get nice and smoky, give 'em a solid attack!

I assume this change stemmed out of the cut Brawl feature of chanters showing physical damage after a certain amount of damage (example: Meta Knight's mask cracking). Not really fond of this change, but not enough to throw a hissy fit over it.

Really perplexed by this addition. Seems kind of unnecessary and possibly distracting depending on how opaque the steam is

Probably not very distracting, going by the image.

It's unnecessary, but so is stuff like all the flashy effects from standard attacks and colored trails from launching characters.

It does. Be prepared to fight ranked matches any time and anywhere!
Just to be clear, there's no visible ranking for online multiplayer. This was confirmed in the Direct. The Global Smash Power thing is for, like, scores you get in single player and shit. There's internal stats that will be used for matchmaking, however, so after you do a bunch of matches you'll start being paired with people who are close to your skill level so you have good matches instead of getting JV5-stocked*.

That said, if any of you play at McDonald's and I wind up playing your laggy, jittery ass then I am going to nuke your house. There are good public APs out there but McDonald's usually isn't one of them.

*This is actually fairly rare but it happened to me once and it made me want to never touch Dr. Mario ever again.
