Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Pic of the day. Characters that have heavy damage slowly start to emit steam. When your opponent starts to get nice and smoky, give 'em a solid attack!
...that's gross lol

I hope the near-field communication trophy toys heat up and scald you like tiny kettles depending on your character's damage percentage.

I decided to use one of my favorite smash gif that appeared during 2006 right after Super Smash Bros Brawl got announced at E3 2006. I would like to give a prop and credit to whoever made this GIF. I never knew who did since someone posted it in other forum long time ago and I saved that gif ever since.

I don't know for Smash Bros 4, but for me, I'm going to pick up the game!

Remember Sakurai always follow Japanese release date which is tomorrow.

That gif really reminds me of just how damn incredible Sonic being confirmed for Brawl was. There will never be a newcomer announcement hat can beat it.

Totally agree. While I love other characters more (like mega man), it was just the fact that we ACTUALLY GOT SONIC in the game that was mind blowing. Don't even like his games anymore, but it was just mindblowing for me, having grown up in the nintendo vs sega rivalry.

Master Chief.

It would definitely have to be another 'impossible' character, for sure. Unlike master chief, it would have to be one that diehard nintendo fans actually wouldn't mind playing as in a fighting game :p

Eh, I think he was already trumped by Snake. Sonic seemed like he was an obvious inclusion from the minute they announced that they would be including 3rd party characters (then again, so was Mega Man), especially considering how close Sega and Nintendo were getting at that point. Snake, on the other hand, was so out of left field (especially considering we didn't know about 3rd party characters at that point) that it was beyond mind blowing.

Still angry no possible crowd pop reaction for Megaman

imagine that shit at EVO lol

Well it wasn't specified that the "incredible" would have to be positive.

Master Chief in smash is about as incredible as it gets.

Megaman could have been that way had Sakurai chosen to reveal Pac Man at last years e3 and had saved Mega Man for this years
gematsu leak still happaned though

Regarding M2K, his stage/on-screen presence is pretty bad and says vulgar stuff at times. Just the other day I heard him call ZeRo a faggot while playing cause he paused.

He's most definitely the best Smash player, but he is not good at all at maintaining a good presence.
-------------

It doesn't seem like this was implemented in the Smash Direct.

That's not how timezones work.

Thought it was a May 30th release date lol.

I don't know what to tell you if you don't think Melee's barrier to entry is much higher than Brawl's, competitively speaking.
Oh, well, I won't claim that the technical skill level of Melee and Brawl are anywhere near each other, because they're obviously not. My point is that even if you try to simplify things, there are still going to be techs anyway, and that all three Smash games are easy to learn compared to most other fighting games. High skill ceiling, but also low skill floor.

While I would argue that a dragon punch is way easier than a wavedash (due to not needing to master TIMING), even then, I wouldn't even try to compare the two. Wavedashing is something you have to do constantly, and I honestly can't stand having to repeat that series of button presses all the time (same inputs over an over). I'd rather play a game where I don't get carpal tunnel syndrome after playing for an hour. I understand having to stay on your toes and press buttons all the time, but it shouldn't be the same buttons, in the same order, over and over. Especially not a trigger. No game designer would ever wish that upon a gamer.
You only get carpal tunnel if you play Fox.

Kevin Toy - PewPewU

Kevin Nanney - PPMD
Kris Aldenderfer - Toph

No M2K or Mango? Shit sux. I was confident that the finals would be those two, but neither of them are even in it to begin with. I do remember that leaker guy saying that there was going to be a variety of ages and genders, and that seems to be true. Hell, they've even got Wizzy in there. Isn't he like 15 or something?

Hugs winning with Samus and then facing Sakurai's Ridley would make my whole life. I can dream...

No one mentions this guy

Seriously, all of his moves are Smash material!

B - Spear Throw. Can be charged to throw up to three spears. Has a short meteor effect on airborne enemies.
Up B - Spear Copter. Sorta like Wii Fit Trainer's Hoola Hoop.
Side B - Spear Dash.
Down B - Spear Counter.

I do love spear users :( I'd love one spear/lance rep please.

Kain is my number one favorite character design in a video game ever. I would KILL to have him in the game, but alas, he has 0 chance, because there are like 10 other FF characters who would get in before him. Unless we have a 'Square Vs Nintendo' Fighting game, it won't happen.
Which side would Geno go on?

Yeah, not familiar with those three, but the rest seem great. Glad to see Milktea up there, seeing as I thought she was retired (her Twitter bio has been changed to "competitive Smash Bros. player", dropping the "former", so that's probably telling). PC Chris seems odd, he's only recently got back into playing - guess the documentary helps. I peg PPMD to take this shit, he's the best player on that list easily.

Not surprised to see Mango absent, afaik he's not really interested in anything outside of Melee and he's pretty, er, wild. M2K is a bummer, he's a damn good Smasher across all 4 games but his stage presence is probably an important factor to consider. Hungrybox is the most conspicuous absence, though.

The real news here: D1 and Prog. Awwwwww yeah.

I dunno, I'd probably bet on Zero, dude's got Project M+Brawl vs Melee for PPMD.

I like the steam a lot. It'll be a nice way to instantly understand the damage level someone's at. Stuff like actual battle damage is way too subtle, and doesn't give you that instant visual feedback. Plus it makes all the characters feel like steampunk automatons that are starting to overheat hehe.
