Next two veterans, Falco and Luigi's Mansion.
I will never get over Flipnote 3D not coming out in NA

:(

I'm sure that most tournaments won't use them, just like they don't use custom stages. I'm sure some of the more casual ones might.

The thing I want to know is... what if a character sucks REALLY bad, and actually changing ONE special into a custom special makes them viable. If the FGC agrees to it, can they approve of 'modified donkey kong', for example, as 'legal tournament donkey kong'?

This is a great question and a more sophisticated version of what I was wondering too. I see no reason that cherry picked and highly analyzed custom moves couldn't be a part of the meta game of S.S.B.U/S.S.B.3D, other than pure stubborness.

Ike still too slow and has a shit recovery? Give him Shock wave so he can approach and super armor on quickdraw, e.t.c.

assuming you choose out of preset options, they will probably be allowed
otherwise, no chance

Changed it up a bit but mostly agreed with you.

I love all you Takamaru and Lip supporters that keep popping up every now and again. :)

That said, I am totally down for Lip and I've made that stance clear a long time ago.

You kidding? I desperately need Takamaru to happen as the retro rep. The more I think about it, the more he seems absolutely perfect for a retro rep. His moveset develops itself; sheathed sword strikes, invisibility, lightning/fire magic, & shurikens? Come on!

Also, dat stage and music will be glorious.

(Keep in mind, I have no attachment to Ninja castle and have never played it, the concept and aesthetics are just too good. I also love rurouni kenshin. :P

Takamaru in Smash would be like Hayabusa meets Kenshin. HNNNNNGH

Guys, I have a confession to make.

I probably wouldn't be nearly as hyped for this game as I currently am if it wasn't for Namco Bandai's involvement. I'm kinda a huge fan of their products that aren't half-assed.

Does this make me a horrible person?

This would be great with the only downside being that you couldn't really practice with those movesets online. Or can you with friends?

Yes, worse than Hitler
Nah, there will be times I don't care about a game unless a certain developer is working on it as well, also their netcode history gives me confidence in the online for this one

No, we all have our own preference.

I'm watching bits of the UK (well I guess the Japanese version would be fine too) Direct and man, Sakurai's voice is fucking way more boss than the US translator would have you believe

Revisiting DK

Dash Attack

We knew since the Smash Direct he had a Dash Attack. It is reminiscent of his DKC rolling attack.

The attack seems to go naturally with DK's running animation, but it is hard to judge from that clip.

It'd be so cool if you could jump out of the roll like in the Retro DKC games. By that, I mean that DK would do a strong long jump just like in DKCR and DKCTF.

I truly like the fact that Sakurai really brings up his voice to specifics moments like Little Mac KO punch.
While the translator doesn't have that kind of emotion.
So it makes it more refreshing to see in this case.

Marth's dash attack is pretty bad dude....
Ike's jab is top tier in Brawl, that's about it lol

The keyword was I, dude. I also stated that Marth's had too much lag to his, hence it sucked but in a pinch you can mix it in to get some space.

You are right about Ike's jab though. Probably the most satisfying jab combo in brawl/project M. I also love T.L.s jab combo in P.M.

maybe a little off topic but does anybody have any videos of people playing brawl exceptionally well? or just awesome moments?

i've seen so much melee, and i know why, but i'd be curious what "pro" brawl playing looks like.

Has it come out anywhere?
Came out in Japan last July and was supposed to come out everywhere else in August, but it never did and has now been swept under the rug it seems. Probably because of the removal of some online features like what happened to Swapnote.

Mario Kart TV eh?

I hope you guys are prepared for the
Smash TV announcement at E3!

I mean it's not too farfetched with the news with Nintendo and YouTube recently, right?

So rewatching these Brawl cutscenes, they really failed at decent music direction for almost all these scenes. They all take place either in this dumb empty soundless void or just play theme music when characters turn up.

Woah, Snake isn't good anymore? I haven't followed Brawl advanced play since like 2009. What did I miss?

Snake is 6th on the tier list, so he's still pretty good. He's particularly vulnerable to chain grabs and his recovery is gimpable though, which caused him to drop a few places.

Man, I thought it had just been put aside altogether. That's incredibly upsetting.

Pic of the day. You can charge up Ike's Eruption attack by holding the button down, but remember to release it right before it fully charges to avoid recoil damage. Let go of the button at the moment the sword shines!
